Curtis Jones. stay or sell? The young man had a serious eye injury which on a personal level must have scared him and thrown his life upside down. Never has been given a clear run of games to gain confidence or match sharpness or indeed feel like he really belongs in the team. Alternatively, not given a chance because he's deemed not good enough. I mean, if he can't get a kick of the ball in this current team, then he's absolutely just not good enough. The English dani pachecho. All the skills to be a player but too often physically out muscled, not consistent enough, doesn't do simple work often enough. how do you solve a problem like Mr Jones?

Sell. Can’t get on the bench most weeks, never Fit when we need him.
Living off a Goal against Everton in the cup.

Watching him for England u21’s he looked really good. Obviously that’s not the same level as the premier league but he showed serious promise.
It might be a case of him needing a decent run in the team to see him at his best it’s just a case of Klopp doing that which doesn’t look likely.

As much as I think there’s a player there I think we’d be better off selling him, get a decent fee and he’d move on likely to a Villa, Wolves sort of team where he’d get a lot more game time.

He is on the transfer list it just never happened and it is now too late. Can see him at Southampton or Bournemouth. Unfortunately our training sessions and physios/ medical department are so bad that players get injured on the regular and never recover. When Belly joins I fully expect him to get a serious injury within weeks and miss the season and never return to his best. We are a team or club full of crocks only Salah doesn’t get injured and maybe I would hope Trent got injured a bit more often to be fair.

Agreed Kingkev. It seems that the early hype and support from Stevie G may have inflated CJ's opinion of himself. He holds onto the ball for far too long, although he had the best posession rate of any player in the squad last season as he tried to be more Gini like.
He looks to be mid to lower table level to me, and probably only worth 15m, so perhaps best kept as a home grown option, if he wants to stay.

A successfully football career is dependent not just on skill and effort, but also a fair amount of luck. Maybe you can attribute some bad luck or bad timing to Jones' situation. But the point is that he has played well for Liverpool U18s and U23s in the past, and plays well for England U23s as well. But it's been 3 years he is with the senior team and there doesn't seem to be a breakthrough in sight. The fact that Elliott and Carvalho come on in games first when Jones is fit, already tells you a lot about what Klopp and the staff are thinking. My view is sell, with some regret. But it's a crucial summer with hard decisions needed. He seems to be a well liked person in the squad, always joking around in the training videos I've seen. I'd put Jones in the same situation as Kelleher.

He'd have been sold a while ago if we didn't try to be too clever and put a daft price tag on his head.

I like the guy, but we need to start offloading injury prone players. Sell if we can get any sort of decent money for him.

He is nowhere near good enough. Reminds me a bit of TAA, with his approach. Shows quality and skill in patches but lacks concentration and strays out of position too often, like Trent.

Sell. He simply doesn’t know what his true position is. If he can’t get ahead of Keita / Ox / Milner today then I doubt he has any chance making it to the team next season.

Jones has had four seasons to stake a claim, plenty long enough. I appreciate the eye injury has probably hampered his time up to now, but it is far from the only injury he’s had. We need need robust, injury-resistant players.
I wouldn’t stop at Jones, either. All injury-prone players, including Thiago, should be gone this summer.

He’s championship level in his 20’s now and he’s not going to go any further with us!
Seems a sound lad and I like him but for his own good he’s needs to leave!

Definitely sell he’s had plenty of time to prove himself. Ox and keita get played before him which says everything!

I think he should be allowed another season given the injuries he has, unless we get a big bid for him (which is unlikely)

He’s homegrown, scouser, young, happy to play a squad role.

Had 4 years to stake a claim? He’s 22!
He’s still very much a kid with his best years ahead of him.
Not to mention until this season the first team has been pretty settled and almost impossible to break into. And the season he could have got some decent game time in he got an unlucky injury.
For me he’s a keep for now, he’s local and home grown and will likely be happy to play for his boyhood club as a squad player on not obscene wages.
Right now I don’t see him becoming the first name on the team sheet, but a future reliable squad player and I do think he needs to figure out his best position and push on a bit but I would give him next season for him to try and realise his potential before throwing him away.
There’s more and more of a push for clubs to start using home grown players so I wouldn’t be so quick to throw one in the bin so quickly.
If I was to put him on a sell list then he would be quite far down the list, there are plenty ahead of him who need shipping out.

Keep him as a squad player for now definitely. He is still young and can make it. Would have hoped he had played more this year with all injuries. Honestly prefer him in the middle to Elliot.

I like him, but we’re carrying far too many passengers at the moment.

Can we afford squad rule wise to lose all these homegrown players.

Rumours have it Phillips and Williams (not even sure he counts as he’s so young) are available.

Milner and Ox are out of contract. And if Jones is to be sold that’s 5 homegrown.

With our big war chest this summer obviously Bellingham being a LFC fan means that’s one and Mount will be 2. But throw in Mbappe, Pedri and Gvardiol as well as the other 10 signings Klopp would need to take the whole of the FA to Blackpool to try and blag they are all home grown and within FFP.

Much like Carvalho, Jones definitely has ability but he needs to have a defined role. Are they midfielders or forwards? Both are probably natural number 10’s which we don’t use so I don’t see their natural ability being made full use of. There is potential there for both to fit into either our CM or false 9 role but it’s up to the club staff to coach those positions and the players to make an impact in training to break into the squad. Trent, Elliot and Bjatecic (spelling) have shown that age is not an issue and if you earn a place you’ll get a place so now they need to do the same. I would keep them both for another season to see how they develop but if they don’t kick on I think they go next summer.

THIS was Jones season to cement a place in the squad for me, and it's been dreadful from him again. Time to get shut in the summer. Never going to achieve much in the game I doubt Jones unfortunately.

Sadly I agree @Magico - the fact that Curtis hasn’t been able to push himself into a starting place in the sign this season isn’t a good sign. I think the time may have come for him to try and lick start his career at a new club. It’s a shame because he seemed to have a fair bit of potential. And he seems a sensible lad when speaking to the press.

{Ed014's Note - lick starting, is that some weird fetish I’ve never heard of? ??

Certainly is Ed014, although to be fair ‘l’ is just next to ‘k’ on the keyboard ?.

On a separate note - I mention he can’t get a start and look what happened ??

What’s your prediction for this weekend’s result? As we look like we are about to turn another corner I’m predicting a 4 - 0 for Jurgen’s boys.
