Ed25 my mates a Brighton season ticket holder and says that Mac A and Moises are brilliant together. Is there any outside chance we could buy both or is Moises 100% moving elsewhere?

They surely wouldn't sell both together. I personally think caicedo is 100% perfect for us but mac alliister is very impressive at the moment also. Bellingham and either or would be sorted for years with baj. Still need a cb with konate. . but can see caicedo and mac allister going elsewhere anyway unfortunately. More teams with spending power.

{Ed025's Note - liverpool will have money to spend magico but how much is the question?, if they were serious about jude then i believe you will get those two at a similar price mate..

Would be exceptional business ed but I won't get my hopes up for that. I'm still expecting bargain bin acquisitions to be honest. But as you say macallister seems the better of the 2.just because he probably is a better fit personality wise. Think the South Americans other more work ethic. if that makes sense.

Brighton keep losing their best players, but then get even Better.
It’s astonishing really, they finished 16th in 2021.
9th last season. And now are 6th with 2 games in hand.
In that time period they’ve lost Cucurella, Bissouma, Trossard and of course G. Potter, Yet got way better every single time.

Can you imagine Caicedo and MacAllister in our midfield with the strikers we have, the protection they would also offer our defence…do you think Brighton will sell both this summer or look to keep hold of one, I know they tied Caicedo down to a new contract after Jan window so would likely be reluctant to sell?

Neither will be cheap with price tags of over 70m each, not sure I see FSG spending €150 mil on 2 players although I think it would be smart business because they are both quality, are 1st team players and have shown themselves in the premiership. There are other targets such as Gravenberch, Thurman, Ugarte who may well thrive in the premier league and would be cheaper ( I’m assuming) however I don’t think it’s the time to take unnecessary chances. We have messed around in the transfer market for the last number of years ignoring the needs of our midfield and have paid the price with dropping out of champions league, that is fine for a single season but we can’t afford to miss champions league football for consecutive seasons because right now the fight for champions league is intense and will only become more difficult in seasons to come. Not slating other potential targets as they are no doubly talented and may well be unreal in the premier league but I don’t think we are in a position to mess about and take risks.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate, these owners are not stupid and know they cant afford another barren season...they are savvy businessmen and wont want to see this major asset lose credibility or value..

Well Ed25, I don't know about not biases. I do remember you once said that Alisson is average and the mighty Pickford is better than him though.

I do agree with the name you mention although Robbo for me has been poor for sometime now.

{Ed025's Note - robbo has regressed a bit since he lost the outlet of mane mfahmee, but he always gives 100% and for the money you payed for him was an absolute bargain mate, with more help and protection from a better midfield and with diaz now back i expect him to get back to his best..

ED25 - you dig Trent out a lot for being some sort of diva. What’s your justification? He trains, he goes home, he’s never ever in the press, he’s not in the limelight for being a party boy, he doesn’t do fashion shoots in women’s clothing, he gives back to the local community, he doesn’t play up like Bruno Fernandes on the pitch, he gives to charity, he has set up a foundation, paid for out of his own wages for young lads who don’t make it in the academy, he does what his gaffer tells him to on the pitch, from what I know he still lives with his mam.

Utter tripe - Jurgen Klopp is clearly trying to invent a new hybrid right back / midfield role that Trent is trying to learn. The boy is red through and through and would run through brick walls for 3 points.

He is a 24 year old kid who wants nothing but success for the reds. Your constant digging him out is embarrassing, he is the best right back in world football and I don’t understand how you can ascertain his face looks “sulky” - you think the best manager in world football would put up with that? Ed25. Fair enough mate. I love Trent but admit up until the change in position and tactical set up he was well below standards and he even admitted that himself. He does look a lot happier recently, which makes a change to earlier in the season when he looked miserable and half bothered. If we get a quality midfield and defender then he will truly thrive in this right back on paper but midfield in game position. The guy is a class above and besides KDB there is no better passer in Europe for me. You may think that’s red tinted or an exaggeration but name me a better passer that him, KDB aside of course.

{Ed025's Note - i have said on many occasions how talented i think he is alonso, great crosser of a ball and can pick out a pass that not many can, not a great full back though mate and his body language is not great at times..

Just to point out that for interceptions, successful tackles, successful tackle % Trent ranks 2 among defenders (beaten by konate) and third overall (thiago 1, konate 2)
Trent is a more successful defender than matip, vvd, Robertson etc.
He is ranked lower on aerial duels but then most fullbacks are.

He really isn't anywhere near as bad at defending as people say he is.

As for "being caught out of position" he isn't caught there, he's clearly instructed to play further forward. Do people honestly believe that Trent has simply been ignoring instructions and drifting out of position against his managers wishes for three years? And klopp just accepted it?
Of course not. They've obviously been trying to find a way to utilise his passing range and finally bit the bullet and admitted he just needs moving to midfield.

The Trent bashing is over the top from some people. Are there areas for improvement? Yes. Every player has that.

Finally the idea that he's not being picked for his country so he can't be that good is ludicrous. Baggio didn't get picked for nearly 10 years despite being the best forward in Italy does that mean he's a bad forward?

Fowler rarely got picked for England even though at the time he was only 2 goals behind shearer in prem golden boot, was he a bad striker?

Conversely bad players often get picked because all managers have their own personal bias which affects their selections.

I'm not going to say he's the best right back in world football because I've never actually thought Trent was a right back, he was a midfielder playing as right back and I think he did pretty good all things considered.

Kemlyn, nothing wrong with Ed having a different opinion mate. Personally I disagree with Ed about him having a diva-ish attitude since I think him not tracking back is an instruction from Klopp and the coaching team. His defending has been poor on occasion this season but that's because he's out of position most of the time due to what I said above. But if Ed has an alternative view to that then it's fine too. No need to force each other to agree to one another's viewpoint.

Exactly. I don't know how he has got this reputation as a "diva". He is b y all accounts, a very nice guy. His charity initiatives go far and wide. And though he didn't have the best season football wise, it should in no way make people question him as a person.
Also, imo, he is our most talented player along with Diaz.
