It seems like Slot is mentioned as the preferred choice for Liv now and Amorim looking rather unlikely by the media. Ed2, you do mentioned that for you Slot is a good candidate and a good fit for Liv.

With many top clubs looking for a new manager, I would assume he would be looked by others as option. Is there any other clubs interested in him other than Liv?

mfahmee2

{Ed002's Note - Arne Slot (C) Complete wildcard, but a great coach and very good option for many of the sides looking for a coach. Will be considered by Barcelona and by Bayern Munich. He and his coaches have done a great job at Feyenoord and got them back ahead of PSV and Ajax to win the league a couple of years ago. He is an excellent manager and a very pleasant guy. Previously of interest to Spurs and Chelsea. Would be my pick for the Liverpool job.}

1.) 24 Apr 2024 09:14:33
top kudos to you Ed002 for mentioning Slot a while ago,

2.) 24 Apr 2024 11:37:31
Thanks Ed002, always value you opinion and Knowledge of the game!

Out of curiosity, how would you compare slot vs Amorin? Outside of the obvious formation wise

Style play, style of management etc.

{Ed002's Note - I would not consider them entirely different.

Ed, is the rumor about FA going the way of US sports in term of introducing luxury tax to team that overspending true at all? Teams that overspending will get luxury tax imposed on them instead of point deduction/ relegations/ fine as a punishment. Or is it just rumor?

mfahmee2

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of such plans - any move from a level playing field would be more than difficult.}

1.) 04 Apr 2024 21:48:55
I would expect that's rubbish not a rumour. It should certainly be.

{Ed001's Note - why? If it is like the NBA it would be interesting as the luxury tax money gets shared between the teams who keep within limits.}

2.) 04 Apr 2024 22:09:01
Financial deterrents are worthless to the likes of Man City. Only the threat of a points reduction will change behaviors.

{Ed001's Note - people are missing the point, the regs are not meant to be deterrents. They are meant to be there to stop clubs getting into financial difficulty by spending beyond their means.}

3.) 04 Apr 2024 23:38:20
Money doesn’t necessarily guarantee success, only have to look at Chelsea rn and even Utd has spent close to a billion over the last few years. But I would worry that City could spend £1bn and just dominate given how well run they are. And the wealth tax even if it was 100% would just see the other clubs given £50m each in exchange no ed001? Doubt the extra £50m each would help other clubs to compete. Could potentially allow other clubs like Newcastle to spend massively so could allow owners who don’t mind investing money without return but I see it becoming a much more negative thing imo. Think it would see even worse inflationary price rises for players if sovereign wealth fund backed clubs are allowed to spend as much as they wish.

4.) 05 Apr 2024 00:01:58
Likes of city + Newcastle would just spend whatever they like and as much as they like and pay whatever tax they have to. Not near strict enough for me.

5.) 05 Apr 2024 00:03:14
I assume clubs in Europe would also have to adhere to eufas rules too, preventing huge over spending?

6.) 05 Apr 2024 05:48:39
The idea that it is a “level playing field” made me laugh. There is a case that has been dragging on for years because it is ‘difficult’, whilst other clubs seem to be treated to the abridged version of the process.

@Digger, that’s a bit harsh on Newcastle

@Ed01, I understand what you are saying about the rules being there to try and ensure clubs’ financial stability and spending prudence but might it not be better to redouble their efforts to try and weed out potential ne’er do wells prior to them being allowed to take control of the clubs?

{Ed001's Note - fully agree, that's what they should be focused on.}

7.) 05 Apr 2024 13:34:24
@Jaynwa. You can make a case that a points deduction is a financial deterrent by another name.

As an example, if Everton are given another points deduction next week then they run the real possibility of playing in the Championship next season and they may find it hard to get back out again. The points deduction could have a financial impact lasting for years.

8.) 05 Apr 2024 13:28:16
I think the plan is to introduce the luxury tax coupled with sporting sanctions to try and avoid the likes of City and Newcastle just paying the tax. There is also a rumoured salary anchor which I thought was quite interesting. Personally, I see the only way to stop it is by having a salary cap, if all clubs across Europe agreed it would instantly stop clubs getting into financial messes such as Barca. People talk about mismanagement and club owners, but players greed is as much to blame.

9.) 05 Apr 2024 14:16:49
I think it would be a terrible idea, spending as much as you want doesn't stop poorly run clubs from going under they'll overpay, pay a fine and then be in financial difficulty quicker. Rich clubs will just spend continuously and even if they're fined £100m (unlikely they'd even be fined this really) and then that's distributed to other clubs that's what £5m per team assuming all of it goes to other clubs? Hardly makes a dent.

10.) 05 Apr 2024 16:12:26
Until we sort out the corrupt people running the game nothing will change. Shoot me down for calling the pgmol, FA etc corrupt don’t care there is nothing else to describe them in my eyes.

{Ed002's Note - so who is paying them off? To do what?

11.) 05 Apr 2024 21:34:05
I’ve always wanted to watch a World Cup in the Emirates.

01 Sep 2023 16:10:15
Ed, is it true that Fulham still not giving the green light for Bayern to sign Palhinha yet and there's only one hour until the German transfer window close? And the Gravenberch deal still not completed because of this?

mfahmee2

{Ed002's Note - Fulham have had a problem brining in Palhinha's replacement and they have until 1800CET to agree the move to Bayern Munich - they can request to send the paperwork later.}

1.) 01 Sep 2023 16:25:45
That half an hour left right? If Fulham don't agree with Palhinha move, will this Gravenberch deal be off?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, half an hour. It should not be an issue.}

2.) 01 Sep 2023 17:05:49
So it is off between Palhinha to Bayern I heard. Would that mean Gravenberch is also off as Bayern can't sign his replacement?

3.) 01 Sep 2023 17:27:30
Do Bayern really need to replace Gravenberchs mins from last season?
He barely kicked a ball.

4.) 01 Sep 2023 17:28:35
If the Gravenberch deal takes a knock because of this, why not just got for Palhinha!

5.) 01 Sep 2023 17:29:48
Gravenberch deal will be off as transfer was contingent on Bayern getting Palhinha in. Could Liverpool turn to Fulham as an alternative.

6.) 01 Sep 2023 17:29:28
Ed002 - sorry to ask. Looks like Grav should be confirmed tonight regardless of Fulham and Bayern not agreeing to let Paulinho go. Are Liverpool working on anyone else? A defender be nice or Salah replacement if we unfortunately agree to a ridiculous high offer.

{Ed002's Note - Not that Ian aware.}

7.) 01 Sep 2023 17:40:53
I'd of been on palhinha 1st. but obviously they won't let him leave as they can't get the player they want now. Too late.

{Ed002's Note - A lesson learned.}

8.) 01 Sep 2023 17:41:29
Whos Ian.

9.) 01 Sep 2023 17:43:03
Gravenberch deal done and not reliant on Paulina.

10.) 01 Sep 2023 17:44:33
Don’t know where everyone is getting it’s off everyone’s who is reporting on it had said the Fulham lads got nothing to do with Graveberch leaving.

11.) 01 Sep 2023 17:50:16
We never learn though ed. I'd be offering Jones and cash for him. Worth a try. He's too good for fulham.

12.) 01 Sep 2023 17:56:18
Liverpool have been interested in Gravenberch since his Ajax days. So now they’ve got him and he’s only recently turned 20.
I wonder will we see a return for Andre in Jan?

13.) 01 Sep 2023 18:54:48
Gravenberch paid for his own plane ticket so would be very cross.

14.) 01 Sep 2023 18:55:37
Welcome to Liverpool Ryan Gravenberch.

15.) 01 Sep 2023 19:54:57
I really wouldve liked us to go for Palhinha . Could see him really making a difference.

16.) 01 Sep 2023 18:04:40
Possibly not now we’ve got Gravenberch. Ed02 what are your thoughts on the red’s transfer window and the players we’ve got.

{Ed002's Note - Gravenberch is a great addition and Dominik Szoboszlai is a very good player, but very, very expensive. Alexis Mac Allister Is a fine player for the price. Wataru Endo is a bit of an oddity for me but is a cheap option for DM. I think CB should have been addressed. The club will do OK.}

17.) 01 Sep 2023 21:22:42
@Burrows Ian aware is a spell check error of Ian Ayre, he's been working behind the scenes this window. Lol.

18.) 01 Sep 2023 21:32:54
Thanks Ed02, I totally agree on CB, I see it as an error not pushing for a LCB.

11 Aug 2023 01:40:57
So Caicedo to Liv is really happening Ed? Will it break the British transfer record?

mfahmee2

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have made an offer above what Chelsea were prepared to pay. They also offer a sell on clause.}

1.) 11 Aug 2023 09:32:15
Sell on clause as in if we sell Caicedo in the future, Brighton will get some of the money?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

10 Aug 2023 11:21:29
Do you know if we have bid for Caicedo Ed?

mfahmee2

{Ed002's Note - I am aware that someone has said that Liverpool have made an offer but at this time all I know is that whilst Liverpool would be interested in the player, I am not aware of any approach to Brighton.}

1.) 10 Aug 2023 12:10:03
Do Liv have the capability to make this kind of signing Ed? In other word, can Liv afford spending close to 100M for a player?

{Ed002's Note - I really do not want to get in to the finances.}

2.) 10 Aug 2023 12:19:00
Fair enough Ed. Do you know if the player have any preferences? Read that he prefer a move to Chelsea.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea as Liverpool has not been an option.}

Ed1, I know it is still too early and no competitive match being played yet, but do you make of Slot so far? Training wise and interview that he has made so far. Also the new staff that being put in place to replace the old guard, what do you make of them?

mfahmee2

{Ed001's Note - I don't have any interest in interviews - they are an absolute waste of time to listen to, they show you nothing other than how well trained in media relations someone is. As for training, it is far too early to judge, it takes time for things to take effect and the only real judge of the training's effectiveness is what happens in matches. The players do look to be enjoying it though, which is obviously a good thing as you want them looking forward to going in to training each day.

As for the staff, I don't know enough about them to make anything of them apart from Heitinga and I am wary of him. His CV is not exactly impressive - even ignoring the fact he played for Everton - and I am not sure working with Moyes is a good grounding for modern football. But that doesn't mean his coaching is not excellent, it just means he has not been in an environment before that is similar enough to Liverpool's to have any idea how he will do.}

1.) 26 Jul 2024 10:53:22
I mean we’d read into it if Slot was coming across like he’s the new special one hahahaha I like to listen and watch. Over a season you can see consistencies in their demeanour and notice changes when things are going well vs when they’re not. The vibe I get from Slot is very determined and pragmatica.

22 May 2024 10:51:16
Ed1, I've seen Willian Pacho name being mentioned a lot in past few days as potential Van Dijk long term replacement. Have you hot any chance to watch him play?

mfahmee2

{Ed001's Note - no, sorry I have not seen him play.}

1.) 22 May 2024 11:30:38
I’d imagine he would play left back allowing Trent to roam into midfield and the defence shuffle over to make a 3 as that’s arnes preferred system not sure where that leaves robbo or beck maybe another loan for beck and robbo as back up because of injuries.

2.) 22 May 2024 11:53:47
Plays more like a left-back than a CB to me. Likes his recovery runs, ground duels and progressive passes into the channels. By no means a Virgil replacement from what I can tell but I haven't watched him over a whole season. His aerial duel stats are terrible.

3.) 22 May 2024 11:53:47

4.) 22 May 2024 12:56:59
FPF, no idea about his stats but I've been reading up on how Willian Pacho's utilised and it's off the left side of a very wide back 3 quite often. So playing at left back in a back 4 that becomes a back 3 when Trent inverts, would seem to be what his experience leans towards. He even actually played left back a few times for Frankfurt in a back 4, most notably in their 5-1 demolition of Bayern Munich. It does seem like that is where his strengths would be best suited in our team.

For me, we should be looking at Jarrell Quansah as the Virgil replacement and Sepp Van den Berg as the Konate replacement. It would mean when Trent inverts we'd shift to a back 3 of Pacho off the left and Sepp off the right with Quansah in the centre, which makes sense given he probably the strongest in the air of the 3 players and also the slowest of the 3 so not the one you want facing up against wingers if he get's dragged out wide.

It's a very young back 3 but that hasn't hurt Arsenal since putting their faith in White, Saliba and Gabriel when they were all 21/ 22 years old. It's just my thoughts of course and Pacho hasn't actually even signed yet so it's all steeped in assumption!

5.) 22 May 2024 13:31:21
MK - I commend your romantic view of these young players.

However, I'd like to get back to winning titles, please.

6.) 22 May 2024 13:58:57
FPF, do Frankfurt plays with back three or back four? I do think that aerial abilities for CB is really important though. Like how we were so poor defensively when defending set pieces before Van Dijk coming in. We were starting to be better once Van Dijk came because how he would win almost every header when opponent team has set pieces. I don't know how that would translate if he is to come to Liv.

7.) 22 May 2024 15:05:57
There’s a lot to like about him.
Sometimes players play better in different systems with different teammates in different leagues with different coaches.

I’d sign him.

8.) 22 May 2024 15:13:24
FPF, because you don't win anything with kids, right? As Hansen so famously claimed just before United embarked on a period of domestic domination unlike anything in English football history.

We've spent so much time and money upgrading the academy in recent years, and signing the best young talents in Europe. It would be criminal not to utilise it when we actually produce excellent young players. Where we lack proven top level quality in the youth ranks I have no problem if we choose to dip in to the market. I'd encourage it even. For example I am not 100% convinced by Beck or Chambers, nor am I by Doak or Gordon, so I fully support going into the market for options at LB and RW. Even Bajcetic and McConnell I'm not 100% confident on hence why I'd like Koopmeiners to come in to play in the double pivot. None of Beck, Chamber, Gordon, Doak, Bajcetic or McConnell have extensive experience starting at a high level and to be honest I think Bajcetic is the only one who will turn out to be good enough.

That's just not the case with Quansah and Sepp. Quansah started 27 games for us this season. Sepp started 31 for Mainz. These aren't players I am romanticising are ready, these are 2 players who have proven they are ready by starting regularly in the Premier League, Europa League and Bundesliga and actually shining.

Long story short, I agree with you that we can't put blind faith in unproven kids. But I don't think Quansah and Sepp belong in that category anymore. They are senior players who've stood out significantly in the last 12 months.

{Ed025's Note - good post that MK..

9.) 22 May 2024 15:22:44
That's right FPF. Everyone knows you don't win anything with kids.
Personally I like to support and believe in our youth. If you don't fair enough, I'll bow to your obviously superior football knowledge that you have used to have a damning opinion of these players likely without ever seeing them play. Your the type of manager we need.

10.) 22 May 2024 18:03:43
To be fair the “you don’t win anything with kids” must be 30 years old and while there have been young talent introduced to established playing squads over the years Hansen was pretty much correct, his timing was off tho. Can anyone else name me the last time a group like Beckham, Butt, Giggs, Neville, Sharp Scholes all came thru in such a short period of time and had great careers at the same club? Exactly!

11.) 22 May 2024 18:19:28
In my opinion the young ones don't get enough of a chance so when they do I absolutely love it. Throw them in at the deep end, if they don't cope with it then don't play them, if they do, keep playing them. I agree with your post fully MK, I'd just add Bradley to that mate. I think he's going to be an absolute machine for us. I do love our youth setup I must admit, we've got so many talented youngsters who are ready to step up and Slot is known for bringing in the youth, I think this is exciting. Bring on the next chapter.

Believe.

12.) 22 May 2024 19:03:49
Liverpool really need to get a move on and make an offer for him as I've just heard a rumour that Ron Keague is very interested in signing him, Ed002, any truth in this rumour ?.

13.) 22 May 2024 19:49:58
I’ve met his buy out clause.

14.) 22 May 2024 19:52:18
Agree MK scouser. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t sign a Central Defender. Simply because Konate is going backwards, it’s probably the injuries, but this season he’s basically been Sakho. We can’t rely on Virg forever.

15.) 22 May 2024 20:42:50
Btw for clarity I rate our kids and have no issue dropping them in from time to time.

But we need some realism too if you want to win major honours.

16.) 22 May 2024 20:57:34
Liverpool FC8, I’d sign one too. But I’d like Pacho to replace Gomez as a CB/ LB option. Then bring back Sepp to replace Matip. I don’t think it makes sense to not give Sepp a chance. If his name was Branthwaite and he was going to cost £70m people wouldn’t be complaining about him being 22 years old. Some people just want to see money spent in my opinion.

17.) 22 May 2024 21:34:03
No doubt big Arne will take a look at him in pre season MK.

This ederson fella in defensive midfield for Atalanta is an absolute beast. Makes me feel slightly better about them destroying us at anfield because they’re embarrassing Xabis invincibles.

18.) 22 May 2024 21:39:08
How else does a player prove they are ready without being given a chance? No-one had heard of Quansah when he came in for us this season. Who's to say Doak wouldn't have played more with us or on loan had he not got injured. McConnel and Clarke did nothing wrong for us when playing this season during a period we were playing considerably better football than our supposedly superior experienced players when they all returned. Beck has just finished a season being picked out as a star performer playing in a league comparable if not superior to that where Bradley and Quansah were playing last year but he's not good enough whilst those two are?
Nah sorry but I'm not having any of that. I think they should all be given a chance, including Carvalho and Sepp and if they take it great. If not then yeah fine bring someone in.

19.) 22 May 2024 22:54:15
Westwood - by all means you can want to see that.

However I suspect Hughes and the nerds will want to make their mark this summer. Expect churn.

20.) 23 May 2024 12:46:38
Great Post MK. but quansah, Sepp and bradley still had to get their chance.

14 May 2024 03:15:55
Ed1, you are right. Our defense really do need sorting out. It looks like a mess right now. When our forward can score goals, our defense can't seem to defend. When the defender can defend, our forwards can't score goals. Last night remind me of the beginning of Klopp era. Scoring enough goals while also conceding a lot goals.

mfahmee2

{Ed001's Note - it is a mess that will need fixing.}

1.) 14 May 2024 10:12:42
Van Dijk's fallen off a cliff the past few weeks after seeming to recapture his best form earlier in the season. He's not going to be able to play basically every game anymore, do that needs sorting.

The midfield became porous as soon as Endo came off, so we need another Endo. Those two things would fix 50 percent of it imo.

2.) 14 May 2024 10:36:57
Do you think VVD and Quansah isn't as good pairing compared to VVD and Konate? It seems like they both doesn't really have the understanding of what the other are doing. Like when VVD is stepping up, Quansah dropping down or late to step up and vice versa. It feels like Villa can score more than 3 goals last night. Just like second half against Spurs, Villa just going through our midfield and defense with ease. Sure these last few matches doesn't mean anything, but got to defend better than that.

{Ed025's Note - what you have mfahmee is experience alongside inexperience mate, there are bound to be a few teething problems but i think Quansah could be something special and personally i would stick with him..

3.) 14 May 2024 10:43:14
I remember back to that season when VVD was assaulted by Pickford and we used Fabinho and Hendo as CBs. Weakening the midfield had too much of a difference all over the pitch.

The 6 position is critical for me. I think we need to have either an established CDM come in for Endo to backup or the future CDM come in. but I really don't want to see a 10 or an 8 come in and be deployed as a CDM.

it doesn't work.

4.) 14 May 2024 10:52:40
I do think Quansah is good Ed25, maybe Van Dijk could be more vocal during matches to organize the defend better. It seems like Van Dijk and Quansah are both little bit laid back so maybe that is one thing to fix. These last few matches with nothing left to play, could be one of the reason why players doesn't seem to bother to defend well.

5.) 14 May 2024 11:44:34
With looked incredibly porous with Endo on too. It's just Villa didn't take their chances.

I think finally people are seeing this is not Kloppball we have been playing for the last couple of years. It's a poorly attempted imitation of De Zerbi's style.

It literally suits nobody in our team.

6.) 14 May 2024 11:47:54
We need an upgrade on Endo but I would keep him. It shows how fragile the midfield is when Endo has to be the first name in there.
The defence needs sorting but it's like the area under the Old Trafford Waterfall with the midfield being the roof. We need an experienced partner for VVD and Quansah can develop. We've a good young right back and TAA can play there with the right players around him. I wouldn't be averse to bringing in a left back as Robertson has started to creak.
The midfield is the real concern and I think we're expecting a lot of Endo and Bajcetic to sort it and at least one quality addition is needed. Mac, Szob and Grav need to be higher up the pitch and next season is a big one for the last two.

7.) 14 May 2024 12:39:39
We weren’t as bad as we are now when we had Fabinho and he do back there, too many of these lads aren’t giving their all, Trent and Gomez and vvd are the worst…. gomez only gets a by because he’s a utility man. Vvd isn’t a captain and not doing his job so how can he tell others. Quansah is quality and konate has needed to do 2 roles with this inverted full back nonsense…. Might as well have 3 cbs.

8.) 14 May 2024 14:42:29
Trent has been so lax since he got back in the team more interested in Hollywood passes than putting in a shift.

9.) 14 May 2024 14:57:02
Agree gmil he looks like he’s checked out on this team.

10.) 14 May 2024 15:09:35
Eds, it seems like almost all the coaching staff will leaving the club alongside Klopp. New DoF, Edwards and Ward is coming back also. Does all this changes happening at one go concern you?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

11.) 14 May 2024 15:54:21
Gonna be an emotional one on Sunday but it looks like the players are already on their summer holidays or even worse conserving themselves for the Euros and Copa America.

Bit of a sad way for Klopp to bow out in a meaningless game v Wolves.

12.) 14 May 2024 16:48:27
JK, I don't think it's that bad of a way to bow out. There's no pressure to get a result and it's more about Klopp. Can you remember a couple of seasons ago when we played Wolves on the last day when we could have won the League and City were 0-2 and ended up winning 3-2? That would be worse, imo.
It could also be better though!

For me, Sunday will be all about Klopp and the fabulous years he has given us. I'm not going to be dwelling on stuff he didn't do, the tactics, the book he contributed to etc etc.
There have been far more positives than negatives and we might not see the like again. I'll be honest, I didn't think I'd see them again until Jürgen Norbert Klopp arrived at our club.

Ps. and I'll be keeping an eye on the title race. I hope Spurs get something tonight to make it really interesting!

13.) 14 May 2024 22:13:58
@Ed25, have you run out of your tablets, mate? You do realise that you said a Liverpool player might be a good ‘un?

{Ed025's Note - you should realize by now WDW that im like "superman" mate, i dont tell lies and i can see through lead.. :)

14.) 15 May 2024 07:36:05
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nah it’s Super Ed ?.

{Ed025's Note - love it WDW..

01 May 2024 15:07:23
Ed1 and fellow reds here, one month left for Klopp as our manager. I want to ask you Ed1, if you could pick one signing as the best signing under Klopp reign, who could it be?

For me its between Alisson, Van Dijk and Salah. But I'm going to go with Alisson. Because of how hard it is to find a world class goalkeeper compared to a winger or a CB. Also because of how he can single handedly saves us many times and just how good he actually is.

{Ed001's Note - I think I would have to go with the same choice. Also because it was the moment when he showed that he can be ruthless when needed. Klopp had been intending to give Karius the chance to redeem himself, but Karius arsed about with his LK1 'brand' rather than working to improve. So Klopp immediately went out and bought Alisson, just before everyone else jumped into the market for a keeper. It ended up causing a ripple effect which led to a panic buy of Kepa for a record fee for a keeper by Chelsea as they had missed out on Ali. So it also helped weaken a rival as Kepa was terrible.}

1.) 01 May 2024 17:31:44
Favourite Liverpool player of all time is Alisson. I don't think many people, including some of our own supporters, realise how good he is. Best goalie I've seen in my lifetime.

{Ed025's Note - hes a great keeper AW but for me Clemence was probably better if only for his longevity mate, im afraid he would struggle to get in the top 20 of all time great overall Liverpool players though, maybe you are quite young and dont remember the likes of Kenny, Souness, Rush, Keegan, Fowler, Hansen, Neale, Hunt, StJohn, Kennedy, Case, McDermott....and many many more i could mention....i tell you what make that top 50.. :)

2.) 01 May 2024 18:06:39
For me the best signing was 4th choice Mo Salah. Take away his agent trying to get him to Madrid since the day and hour he arrived and his odd little hissy fit but what an incredible player, that can’t be denied. So consistent over his time at Liverpool, even this season when he has shown signs of slowing down, still pops up with 20 odd goals. Sure there are right wingers but like Salah? Pure gold.

3.) 01 May 2024 18:25:46
You are not Live supporter Ed25. In your neutral view, who do you think is Klopp best signing?

{Ed025's Note - its between VVD, Alisson and Salah mfahmee, the thing is that i dont know how much input Klopp actually had mate..

4.) 01 May 2024 18:32:03
The hardest thing is football is scoring goals so it has to be one season wonder 4th choice Salah.

5.) 01 May 2024 18:56:19
Ed025 you left out your favourite there. Firmino.

{Ed025's Note - hes not in my top 20 Walkon, nice fella though but underwhelming as a footballer for me mate.. :)

6.) 01 May 2024 18:59:53
I d go Allison also but I think mane is also in the conversation. We immediately jumped in standards when he joined too.

7.) 01 May 2024 19:07:22
Matip has to be up there considering he was a free.

{Ed025's Note - if he was free...you were robbed Amorin.. :)

8.) 01 May 2024 19:22:47
Allison, Salah, VVD and Fabinho for me. All 4 of those equally. Ali, VVD and Fabinho gave us that solid platform for the rest to thrive. Great defences win titles. If you’re not solid at the back then you’re very very unlikely to win titles.

9.) 01 May 2024 20:08:53
Klopp had some input into VVD signing for Liverpool, they had a cosy up on the big dipper. VVD for me because he is the one we will miss the most. With Allison out and Mo not playing well we still ended up 3 points clear with 7 games to go.

10.) 01 May 2024 20:16:18
Alisson easy for me.
VVD and Salah not a million miles behind though.

11.) 01 May 2024 19:59:13
Im more the same age group as ED025, some amazing players over my lifetime. Sometimes forget just how good we have been. So hard to say best plater overall, but best keeper has to be Clemence. A keeper ahead of his time, Ali runs him a close second. Best Manager, PAISLEY always.

12.) 01 May 2024 20:36:26
Best keepers? Surely smeichal or van Der sar have to be up there also, bad spelling sorry.

13.) 01 May 2024 19:54:44
Ed025 you listed a load of great players there mate but no Barnes. Was that an oversight or do you not rate him?

{Ed025's Note - a bit of a brain fart im afraid Baz, right near the top of that list for me mate and one of the most skillful players i have ever seen mate..

14.) 01 May 2024 21:03:16
Alisson for me not only fantastic keeper but a humble lead by example kind of character in the dressing room and that for me is part of why Liverpool has had an amazing run since he arrived
The assist against United and the top corner finish in the dying minutes are bonuses but his ability with his hands make him one of my favourites.

15.) 01 May 2024 21:11:35
Mohammed Salah for me. Year in and year out, consistently was available to play, scored that minimum 20 goals a year, broke LFC records regularly and is just a serious professional always at work. Recent touchline hissy fit aside. Alisson and VVD are very serious contenders but just half a step behind Salah, for me.

16.) 01 May 2024 21:38:14
Vvd for me. the 1 player when he is out or not at his best we cannot make any attempt to replace.
Weve lost ali+ salah at different times threw the years but we got bye OK. When vvd out or plays below his best we allover the place defensively.

17.) 01 May 2024 22:45:35
Rodgers signed Firminho.
Any of the four of Alisson, VVD, Mane or Salah, for me.
Robertson has been outstanding value for what he cost, too.

18.) 01 May 2024 23:43:19
I’m with Digger - Virgil Van Dijk.

He’s what you call “a multiplier”. His presence improves all the players around him.
He gives more confidence to the fullbacks to roam forward. He allows the team to go full tilt on the high press. He gives confidence to all the other defenders and the goal keeper and is a calming influence.

We went from ”good team” to genuine challengers when we bought Virgil.

Salah is a brilliant player but Virgil made the difference to the team.

19.) 01 May 2024 23:53:03
Great shout about Robbo @Rigsby.

I’d go for Ali as the best ‘signing’ and Robbo as the ‘best value for money’ signing.

If you talk about the previous manger his best signing was Bobby and his best value for money signing (quite possibly in the club’s history) was Millie. Despite the fact Brendan was / is a self promoting tool he did have his moments.

20.) 02 May 2024 01:28:45
I mean does Salah even count as a Klopp signing? Yeah he signed off on it but he wanted Brandt and 2 others instead.

21.) 02 May 2024 07:56:42
Yes, Salah counts as a Klopp signing, fuser.

22.) 02 May 2024 08:00:58
This Salah is not Klopp signing is not much of a discussion is it? There is no way to know that if Brandt who Klopp want did come, he will not turn Brandt into a world class player. Plus Klopp have the final say on who we sign right, it mean that Salah will not happen if Klopp doesn't approve it.

23.) 02 May 2024 08:48:55
Another vote for Virgil.

24.) 02 May 2024 21:13:04
VVD and Alisson were demonstrable game changers.
We won the lot when we signed them.

10 Mar 2024 06:01:11
Ed1, you have any idea whether Konate would be available or not? If not, would you put Quansah or Gomez at CB?

mfahmee2

{Ed001's Note - last I heard he was expected to be fit. If not it would be Quansah for me. I would want the centre backs to stay as a pairing throughout but Robbo and Bradley are unlikely to last 90 min so we need Gomez as cover at full back or even to start at full back.}

1.) 10 Mar 2024 06:39:49
Will you watch the match Ed? Me personally, I don't watch when we play the likes of City or other rivals. Might be a bit superstitious, but I would rather wake up tomorrow and knowing the result than being anxious watching the game itself. If we win, I will watch the replay, and if not I won't be bother about it.

{Ed001's Note - yes I will watch, I don't like to miss them.}

2.) 10 Mar 2024 08:22:55
I think Bradley looked a leggy, so with have to go

Khelleher
Gomez
Van Dyjk
Robertson
McAllister
Endo
Szoboszlai (but could be Elliot)
Salah
Nunez
Diaz.

3.) 10 Mar 2024 08:44:01
Take on Citeh with only 10 players from the off. I like your confidence.

4.) 10 Mar 2024 09:35:22
Missed Konate.

5.) 10 Mar 2024 10:15:48
Nice save, Jones Red. Has this happened in real time that you forgot to add Konate, would you have run onto the pitch and stopped the game? And if you did that, pretty sure Darren England would have said, "Can't stop the game. I can't do it". LOL!

6.) 10 Mar 2024 14:16:19
No Konate in todays match day squad.

Ed25, didn't you say that you met him once and he seems to be a nice guy. And it have been suggested to me that he has done lot of charity around Liverpool and UK in general. Doesn't seems to me that he is a footballer who love rich and lavish lifestyle. But that's just my opinion of course. And like you, I would not blame the guy if he decides to leave just because he doesn't feel appreciated by the club. This should have been deal with by the club a long time ago.

mfahmee2

{Ed025's Note - i did meet him once at the Whitechapel project mfahmee which is for the homeless in Liverpool, nice guy but as you say opportunities like that do not come up very often and im sure Jude will have been selling him the dream when they meet up with England, good luck to him however it goes mate..

No interest in Ait Nouri from Liverpool Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Not right now.}

What happening with Inacio Ed? Are we still talking with his agent or has that ended? Or any other CB for the matter. Time is running out. Honestly thinking a CB is more important than a DM.

mfahmee2

{Ed002's Note - There were talks with his agent about 10 days ago.}

Ed, does his contract years include next season in which he is being loan to Valencia or its start next season?

mfahmee2

{Ed002's Note - It starts now.}

Ed1, putting everything aside, how good is this Giorgio guy? Watch him a bit at Euro, seems like a good shot stopper but don't know much about his distribution skills. Ignoring the fact that we got good young keepers aside and the fact that we probably wouldn't see him in LFC shirts in atleast a season or two.

mfahmee2

{Ed001's Note - no idea, never seen him play.}

You still in Philippines Ed? Or you moved back to middle east? Dubai is it?

mfahmee2

{Ed001's Note - back in Dubai now. Time zone was too much for the footie and it was difficult to watch anything there anyway.}

Its crazy to me Ed1, I have seen a lot of Liverpool fans that keep on praising MacAllister and criticizing Szobo even though its clear in the past few matches that Szobo is playing better than Macca. Granted that both are not playing at their best. Seems like Macca is immune to criticism as as compare to Szobo. World Cup winner tax probably.

mfahmee2

{Ed001's Note - it was the same last season, I think it is because the commentators love Macca and always talk about how good he is, no matter how he performs.}

You've said before that big hand Pickford is at same level or better than as Alisson Ed25. So clearly you're not always right.

mfahmee2

{Ed025's Note - sometimes i say things tongue in cheek mfahmee to get a response, and its up to you to decide if im serious or not mate...but i am pretty perfect.. :)

I do wonder Ed1, how do Semedo keep his place at right back sometimes. Everytime I watched him, somehow he will make crucial mistakes that will cost his team. Its also unfortunate for Wolves I think, their squads is definitely better than being bottom of the league. A bit unlucky I think this season.

mfahmee2

{Ed001's Note - they don't have good full-backs mate.}

Ed1, I don't know if I already ask you this before but do you think Slot use Szobo further up is to use him to initiate press and also knowing that he has the engine to run up and down compared to the other two midfielders?

mfahmee2

{Ed001's Note - his creativity and ability to hit a shot as well.}
