I'm drunk but I think Arsenal might sneak the league this year, we're rebuilding massively and it's a ridiculous ask to expect us to get close (if we do we should be overjoyed and not just content, let's not have that man utd 2000s mentality) .

City losing gundog and b Silva is going to make them weaker no matter who they sign imo, utd are just rubbish, Newcastle. Why am I even writing Newcastle? Spurs, Chelsea they'll be lucky to get top 4 (sorry Ed002)

Arsenal have done very good business and have clearly strengthened. CL priorities might take their toll, if they do and our new midfield hits the ground running, maybe.

Arsenal look good on paper. They have spent big money and the majority of arsenal fans i know expectations are high. Both Liverpool and Chelsea were terrible last season and I can't see that being the case again. I Personally think arsenal and Newcastle will struggle for top four mainly because of Europe but im drunk too so il tell you something totally different tomorrow.

Current-era Arsenal couldn't win the league with an anti-matter powered league winning device.

If Saliba didn’t pick up the injury at the end of the last season that kept him out for the last few weeks Arsenal would have been an awful lot close to City than they did.

Arteta did very well and the experience they had of getting close will stand them in good stead if they get to the same position again.

They’ve bought well too. Rice is good and a couple of mates of mine who live in Holland rate Timber. Havertz seems like a waste of space to me - unless he just suffered from his confidence being shot with the lack of a plan from the procession of managers down at the Bridge. Overall they have strengthened.

I think Arsenal will go close again this season.

For me as it stands United look the weaker of the six vying for top four this season.

I think Newcastle will struggle to stay in the top 4 as they haven’t got the biggest squad and they aren’t used to playing in Europe midweek.

I think Chelsea will be a lot stronger than last season and will challenge top 4 with us and Utd with arsenal and City battling for the title.

My surprise package for the season are Villa. They have done some good business there and in Emery have a very good manager.

I’d say City look a bit weaker with Gundogan and if Silva leaves a lot depends on KDB staying fit, which is 50/ 50.

I think Arsenal look a bit stronger with Rice and Timber, although buying Havertz is an odd one. If Saliba gets any better and stays fit ….

I’d say they are the two best placed at the minute.

Then I think, in no particular order, us, Chelsea, United and possibly Spurs who will be different under Postecoglu, provided Levy let's him get back n with the job. You could possibly include Newcastle but they were ‘patchy’ last season and with the extra CL games and a bit more pressure to do better year n year they might struggle.

Of course there is a while to go in the transfer window so things might change. A couple of good mids and a good defender for us and we get closer to Arsenal and City. It’ll be interesting to see where everyone is when the window closes. If we sign Lavia, Kimmich and Inacio I’d be happy.

Isn't it top 5 this season for CL due to the new league format and EPL clubs doing well in Europe over the past 3 seasons.

Surprised to read earlier we actually took more league points in 2023 than Arsenal. I think it'll be us and City in the top two spots this year.

Arsenal had their chance last season.
This season they will struggle more.

It’s City’s again.

OP, you said it yourself. You're drunk, lol.

All jokes aside, I think like Ron Kreague said, Arsenal screwed up last season and frankly, I do not see them winning it this coming season. When we had our chance, we took it even tho we needed two bites at it and our team was way better than this Arsenal one by a mile, Rice and Timber notwithstanding.

Also, Rice is a talent and clearly strengthened them BUT someone still needs to explapin to me what the point of the Havertz signing is cos I don't get that one esp. at 65m? Timber? I don't rate him at all but that's just me.

Moreover, Arteta has shown his incompetence and inexperience time and again and we know he has issues with playing 3 times a week which is what is headed their way with CL footie. Arteta for now, ain't that guy and Arsenal ain't that team yet. Don't be surprised if we finish ahead of them next season. For me, it's City until things change.

I think it's going to be a slug off this year. Everyone is gunna weigh in with no runaway team.

I don’t see Arsenal as title winners this season, they have strengthened a bit in Declan Rice but to be honest I’m not a massive fan of Rice and think he is WAY overpriced, if he wasn’t English then there is no way he transfers for over 60m! Havertz is an odd signing for Arsenal and the Jury is well and truely out on him. Arsenal will be in the top 4 mix no doubt but I just don’t see a winners mentality in the squad or manager and think they come up short again.

Utd had somewhat of a resurgence last year under ten hag who managed the squad well and addressed there apparent dressing room issues however there squad is messy and not at the level to challenge in particular midfield and attack, in the absence of some major signings ( Kane) I predict struggles for Utd this season and think they miss out on top 4.

Tottenham - NOT A HOPE of top 4 if they loose Kane! A bad start to the season sees the manager gone by Xmas.

Chelsea- a complete unknown but we know what you get from a Poch team, a few more signings will come in like Caicedo which will make a huge difference- bit of a wildcard this season but top 4 is well within there reach and could potentially be vying for 2nd place if they stay injury free as they have no other distractions

City- a lot being made of there outgoings and how this will effect them however Pep does this so well and will get complete backing from the board to replace any outgoings with top talent. Even without anymore reinforcements they would still be arguably favourites so my fear is they strengthen before the window closes and win this year at a canter.

Liverpool- this will likely be a transitional season with the wholesale changes made to our midfield which is less than ideal. Incomings so far have been spot on and the next 2/ 3 additions could be crucial to where we end up at the end of the season. Top 4 is a must and I think we will achieve that but I don’t see a title race for us- I do think we will win the Europa League.

Liverpool getting into the the top four will depend on who else we sign. With Hendo and Fab potentially leaving in the coming days I feel we need top talent to replace them. I’m not convinced by Lavia but hope to be proved wrong. This coincides with another CB also.

22 Jul 2023 12:57:23
Arsenal won't be in top4. All their signings are tosh and i don't see Saka and odegaard having the same season and as of today They still don't have a striker.
No team has won the league without a 25 30 goal striker.

You don’t want the mentality of United winning the league 6 times between 2000-2009 then Skezza? Must be drunk as you say ?.

Haha this discussion is great, I was drunk last night lol, my reasons for arsenal being there or there abouts is:
All their players are young and only getting better with more experience. I think Timber and Rice are great signings (not so much Havertz but Arteta will probably play him in an attacking midfield role not CF which is his best position) . He is very hateable though.
I do also feel they are a CB injury away from going totally to pot so it'll be Interesting how CL effects them.

Can't actually wait for the new season to see what/ how our team lines up. Exciting times with so much change in the league (feels like a changing of the guard with so many established PL players departing)

Also someone mentioned 5 teams qualify for CL this year, that's correct - new format to the CL coming next year I believe.

It’s hard to tell, I think Arsenal have been very smart in the window after a decent season, we know personally that it’s hard to keep up with this city team.

I think we have also had a decent window so far we wanted midfielders and we’ve got two so far, a solid CB and a intelligent holding mid who’s strong in the tackle and a good interceptor (basically a peak Fabinho) and we could also challenge.
