Ok, I’m going to risk ridicule from posters and especially Ed002 (sorry! ) but I have read a couple of clickbait articles (PaisleyGates, Football365 etc) that we are potentially trying to gazump City to Gvardiol.

I’m sure they’re hopeful nonsense, but wouldn’t that be just awesome?!

I think he is worth the money and I would be happy with just him and Lavia through the door. Aside from financial constraints, it would not make sense for two reasons.

One, guaranteed starting minutes. I'd be happy for him to start every game and let van Dijk and Konate fight it out for the right sided berth. There is the possibility of dropping Robertson but with the amount of changes we've made already I can't see us adding to it by doing that.

Secondly, we'd have to be shifting Tsimikas, Phillips and Matip for it to make sense in terms of spots in the squad, and I'm not sure we're going to manage that anyway.

Like you say, definitely clickbait. It came from that Spanish publication, Fichajaes, which somehow manages to outdo Marca in the lying department. Still worth having a conversation about though as I suppose all of the above would also apply to Colwill, who somehow seems more feasible (although not by much) .
