Good evening all,
Haven’t been as active lately on this as been so busy with work so going to catchup now where i can, hope everyone is well too.
What’s everyones thoughts on todays game? Looking forward to your write up Ed mate.
I thought it was going to be a tough game for us before hand, although I did think Burnley would attempt to try and score and win the game….
Nevertheless it was great to get the 3 Pts, regardless off the performance. I do think we are getting a lot of heat by the media right now due to our performances, which i think is unfair. Given we have played 4 different types of games this season and i think it’s been fantastic coming out with 12 pts out of 4.
Bourenmouth are currently unbeaten since playing us. Newcastle was always going to be tricky after the Isak saga and SJP. Arsenal at home, was always a tough game and the way they set up made it a great win an they are doing well themselves. Then finally a Burnley side who aren’t great but practically just put the whole team on the edge of their area and was happy for a 0-0, with no attempt to even really score.
Interesting on some of your thoughts on the game and the above.

It’s all good mate, 12 from 12, some we’ll play better than today some we’ll play worse.
Some games we’ll blow the oppo away, some we’ll get more that we deserve, and some less than we deserve. That’s football Kev.
Personally, I’m loving having such a great team to watch. We’re getting the results, pretty soon I reckon we’ll be getting the performances to match.

I think we've just about guaranteed ourselves the title now.
12/ 12 and we're still a new team learning how to play together?
If this is the foundation we're laying, then forget it, the league is done
lol
in all seriousness, I think we deserve the stick we're getting cos we haven't clicked. That's just outside noise tho. Internally you have to be pleased with the results whilst acknowledging we are a long way off the best version of ourselves.

We dominated but that is minimum expectation against Burnley.
Fair to say we re not connecting the dots yet at the top end of the pitch. Individually we have four extremely talented players but they are not connecting with each other very well at the moment. To be honest, I was hoping with a whole game attacking, we would see that connection develop a little more than I did but these things take time.
It is so important when we are working in this gelling period to pick up points still so thankfully we did that.
We can never question this teams effort and commitment. Still confident it will all come together. Hopefully we see it come together a bit more next few games.

This wasn’t an easy game. Yes I expected us to be better going forward and play with more intensity but let’s not forget Burnley haven’t lost at home since 19th May 2024!
They haven’t played teams of our quality but that run must give them bags of confidence when they play at home and it made them very determined to keep that run going.
Added to that, last season they only conceded 16 goals in 46 games in the championship! Different level of course but it shows that if they can do anything they can defend. So when they defend with all 11 players inside their own box they are going to be difficult to break down. They are a team that loves defending and they did it very well today.

Isn’t Burnley away on a cold windswept rainy day the litmus test of your credentials? I’d say walking away from that with 3 points says we passed that test.

Don’t think we’ve ever had an easy game at Burnley?

Very Difficut when a team parks the bus, Early goals are key against teams like that, but we kept at it and battling and came up trumps, Teams like Burnley will always try and do this as they don't want battering evry week they just want to grind enough points to stay up. we will come up against it more and more but 12 out of 12 is awesome YNWA.

Some great takes there folks, seems everyone is near on the same page.
I agree Robbo too mate, i think yesterday everyone overlooked Burnley and thought we would just roll them over. It wasn’t ever going to be that easy, regardless off how poor we may have been.
They draw that game yesterday and there first few results look okay all of a sudden. 2 tricky away fixtures to United and Spurs, then having us at home aswell as Sunderland in which they beat. If they came out them fixtures with 4 Pts they would have been really happy i would imagine, especially as its still early on.
So i think loads maybe overlooked it abit, although i still think it should of been a lot more comfortable. Nevertheless it was a banana skin fixture which we have managed to come out with 3 Pts.
