I had the great opportunity to attend the match yesterday. A real bucket list item for me. Had great seats in the Kenny Dalglish stand, on the opposite end of the Kop. Got a great view of both goals and the celebrations.
Had a few observations about the match:
- I can see what Ed has meant about Konate in the air. He won a lot of battles, but his headers just sort of went everywhere.
- I thought Kerkez and Bradley really played well. Bradley had Grealish very frustrated and Kerkez played a really good all-around match. Good bounce back for him.
- It's weird to say this because he had an assist, but Salah's passing was awful. Other than his assist, I don't remember seeing him complete a pass. I'm confident he'll hit top form, but he struggled. I did think Gakpo played well also.
- I really hope Ekitike does not get used as a top sub when Isak is fully fit. I.

I have been thinking for a long time, that Salah's passing has been awful, bar the odd ocassion when he finds a man with a worldy, the easy passes always seem to go nowhere where they were meant to go.

Salah has always been like that this isn’t anything new, the difference is he is not as involved in games as he is marked out and older/ not as electric. This means we notice more his giving the ball away, as his in game involvements are fewer. However, he is still a threat and still producing, it is just the nature of being an attacker that is always looking to make things happen. With the additions of Wirtz, Isak and Ekitike we will slowly wean ourselves of the deonednch on Salah and have moe of a spread of goals. For me, he is still one of the first name on the team sheet, along with Ali, VVD and Gravy.

That pass and goal were football art.
A masterpiece of football in its thinking and execution.

Salah is a high risk high reward player, so we need to forgive him for wasteful uses (or non uses) of the ball because his involvements so often lead to a goal. This has been the case since he joined us - I for one do not want that to change. Although I do think he would benefit from more 70 minute games and the odd rest to try keep him sharp as possible.
{Ed025's Note - try telling him that JB..

025- He’d throw a little tantrum- but I think he needs to just get over it and Arne needs to do some man management…. appreciate that’s not always easy.
{Ed025's Note - i think we may have seen the best of Mo JB, you now have 2 players who are challenging him for the best striker mantle in Isac and Etikite mate and his nose may be put out of joint a bit..or is that just me hoping?..

Well he’s never really needed to pass it much as he gets the ball and dribbles into the box at lightening speed.
Now he’s losing some pace he can’t just zoom past his man so he’s got to pass it more.

Spot on, Man. of. todd. Salah has always been this way.

Only a few months since he was on Ballon D'or form, i love the clutching at straws every season when it comes to Mo?.

You didn't see him zooming past three Athletic players and scoring last week, Ron?
