BBC reporting Salah is in the squad for Brighton.

12 Dec 2025 22:18:28
Interesting to see if he is on the bench or in the starting 11. For me, he is on the bench. He’s been out of form and we are starting to play better.

Given the reported injuries I’d go:

Ali

Joey - Ibou - VVD - Robbo

Grav - Macca

Don - Flo - Curtis

Hugo.

Hutchison long since retired.

13 Dec 2025 00:30:02
?? I meant Corleone.

13 Dec 2025 02:39:48
We are not starting to play better! We are getting better results.

13 Dec 2025 05:10:00
I disagree @Sanjit. We are looking more solid in defence and one or two of them are playing themselves into form. I didn’t say we are playing well yet but the last four matches we’ve started to head in the right direction.

If isak isn't fit to start id like to see salah take his position up top. Whatever mo's future with us is I don't think it's wide. Only 1 game before he heads to afcon so we'll worth a try imo.

WDW, the last 4 games are not a high bar, are they? . Vs WH we were poor in terms of actual play. Same for Leeds and we conceded 3 in 25 mins or so so not sure where the "more solid defensively" point is coming from. Sunderland?, Man, you have Chiesa to thank for that othersise, that would have been another humiliation. Let's not gloss over that pathetic perf. just cos we didn't lose which, we should have.

The Inter game, I won't count cos CL away games esp. in that stadium is all about getting the result and we stuck at it and when our oppo. came, we took it. Hats off to the team and Slot on that.

The reality is that we have been poor all season and some of the stats are pretty damning compared to last season. That is a fact. The hope is that we can perform better and do better. That's all it is, IMO.

We conceded 3 through a daft penalty and set pieces. In open play we didn't give them a sniff and as ed001 said, we were cruising to a win before we collapsed. Slot has said that we haven't been giving up chances in open play anymore, is he wrong to say that? Is that not progress considering how often we were getting done in transition in the games prior? Shouldn't you give the coach some kind of credit for fixing one aspect of what has been crippling us in this bad run of games?

It's like you want him to fix every single aspect at once, but what I can see is that he is taking proactive steps to make us press better and to make our build up better- against Leeds and against Inter the spacing between the players was WAY better, Konate was passing the ball so much better because he was operating in an area he was comfortable in with support around him. Surely you can see that?

I don't get why you need to repeat endlessly that what Slot is doing won't work in the premier league Oli, repeating the same point ad nauseam isn't going to get Slot the sack faster.

I can't help but feel a bit irritated by folks complaining non stop that we are slow and laborious, but can't appreciate the little adjustments that Slot is making to make us harder to play against, so that we can exert more control in the midfield, not get done when we lose the ball and so that we can pass the ball up the field better. It hardly seems fair that all this is swept under the rug simply because people have made up their minds on the manager.

I'm not saying I want Slot to be our coach for the years to come, but I'm not going to simply discount what he's doing on the job while he's still here.

13 Dec 2025 13:44:39
PB its quite comical that you say we don't concede through open play so you want to give the manager credit for that yet we have conceded the most set pieces this year. and yet you're irritated by folks moaning about our slow football but can't appreciate little adjustments. are you serious.

13 Dec 2025 14:11:24
Nobody is making excuses for conceding through set pieces, that needs to be corrected too. But not conceding in transition and exerting more control in the game, tightening the midfield and fixing the spaces between players, are these not aspects of the game that have been problematic? If we just need to fix conceding goals through set pieces, then that's better than having to fix a whole catalog of problems.

If you can't see that we've made baby steps towards correcting the problems then we have then I don't know what to tell you.

13 Dec 2025 15:26:57
Pb . but if he never changed the way we play in the first place, he wouldn't have had to fix something what wasn't broken . he played that silly horseshoe what left us completely open .

so no I can't see little improvements. all I can see is we've been atrocious n that's down to Slot . you want to defend him great . but trying to fix things of his own making is bizarre.

13 Dec 2025 19:47:42
"I don't get why you need to repeat endlessly that what Slot is doing won't work in the premier league Oli, repeating the same point ad nauseam isn't going to get Slot the sack faster"

Just so you get it @PB, I can say whatever I want however many times I want to say it and that literally applies to you, too. Same, I can complain as much as I want if there is stuff to complain about that are not being fixed.

Or are you now trying to tell people when they should complain and how many times they should make the same point just cos you're irittated? Not arsed what you're irritated about, personally so there's that. And Slot getting sacked tomorrow or in May has nothing to do with me as I control literally none of that. If he deserves the sack, he'll get it, end of.

Now back to the actual debate. Yes, he should fix every single part of it cos HE broke it. If you can't understand that logic then, what are we doing here?

@Strom has said, Slot should get NO credit for trying to fix what he deliberately broke esp. if it was never broken to begin with. Nope, no cookies for him. You can bake him some if you want BUT we all don't need to do that.

14 Dec 2025 00:07:05
@Oli, I’d say last season’s CL finalists being beaten at home is a reasonably high bar.

14 Dec 2025 00:11:57
@Strom, are you saying we should keep the same squad forever and not try to improve? I assume you didn’t want the club to buy anybody before or during the summer transfer window.

I’ve had a look back through the forum posts and honestly I couldn’t find anybody who wrote - it isn’t broke so we don’t need to fix it, please Liverpool don’t buy anybody! Perhaps I just missed your posts?

14 Dec 2025 08:34:45
Wdw . nobody has mentioned anything about getting new players, but we all know we needed them . its about PB praising Slot for not conceding in open play n him wanting to give credit to his actions, even though we concede from corners, set pieces etc . we were saying why should he be getting praise when our play this year is all about his changing how we play in the first place .

in other words he broke a winning formula n now is scrabbling round trying to sort it when it didn't need changing in the first place . we just won the league n the new players could have just slotted into place in a winning system.
