One point on Salah/ Slot.
It would have been quite easy to manage that situation. As soon as the fall off started to show Slot should have managed it. His conversation could have been " look Mo lad! Your control is getting g a bit loose. It could be we are expecting to much of you" so what I'm going to do is Play you from the Start in the bigger games. But min 60-70 your coming off. The next game we can start you on the bench. Min 60 your my first tactical change.
What he did instead is bury his head until it was impossible for him to ignor now he has a situation. To deal with.
He's only Kicked the can down the road. When he had to bring Joe G off. Salah looked like a spring chicken?
Manage his mins. Salah is an adult he would have understood the situation.
Just sayin.
{Ed025's Note - how about just telling the truth Chrisy?, "hey Mo im dropping you because you have been a load of Shoite for months now and an embarrassment to the club"...works every time mate..
31 Dec 2025 00:16:26
We don't have a clue what he said to him.
31 Dec 2025 01:21:19
Mo has been in this situation before ( playing crap) but i genuinely think the way we’re playing is making everyone look garbage.
31 Dec 2025 01:41:14
How could you possibly know what conversation Slot had with Mo?
This was always going to happen with Mo as soon as he started getting dropped. He fell out with Klopp over being dropped too it’s just how he is. He thinks he’s entitled to start every game but he’s not.
If he can’t get his head around the fact that he’s on the decline and his playing time will become less and less he should go to Saudi or the MLS where he’ll be the main man again.
31 Dec 2025 05:19:29
I hate this kind of assertion based on nothing but pure speculation.
31 Dec 2025 06:53:51
Come on! This page is full of speculation. A bit hypocritical of some posters to call others out on it.
“His conversation could have been” the OP didn’t say Slot actually said it Florian and Sean.
31 Dec 2025 07:00:01
Sean
Didn’t you say that our preseason was disrupted without any actual foundation? Even tho our results in preseason and at the start of our league campaign would suggest otherwise? Speculation?
Anyway, it’s madness in my opinion to have a £400k a week footballer sitting on the bench. Honestly I would sell him if it’s possible and get a player that can be made full use of.
31 Dec 2025 08:41:33
Faith you’ve claimed down below you know Slots blueprint moving forward.
Is that hard facts or pure speculation?
31 Dec 2025 08:38:33
Ed25 Salah should have said that to him. He Arne why change a winning formula because you’re a stubborn tool.
{Ed025's Note - i suppose we all see things differently FK, myself i thought Salah deserved to be dropped and acted appallingly, thats not to say that Slot is blameless though mate..
31 Dec 2025 09:23:37
OP, no one knows what was said or if anything was said cos Salah himself said there is no relationship with the manager and Slot said there is. He said -He said stuff. Besides, that's water under the bridge, personally.
31 Dec 2025 09:52:13
@sean Dundee: winners are never happy not playing, you can see the frustration he has when we playing cos we’re crap. He’s still the best rw at the club.
{Ed025's Note - the thing is John is he is one of the main reasons you have been crap mate, big players on big wages have to produce the goods..and he has not..
31 Dec 2025 10:43:58
My post was to highlight the fact the whole situation could have been handled better.
Of course I don't know who said what or when.
My whole point was perhaps if they had a man to man chat, Salah may have been more on board? Instead it seemed ( depending on who you believe) there was no conversation just your dropped. Everyone could see it was overdue! I think sometimes managers feel themselves above the individual chat level. I've always found in better to explain why in my work place. Some people don't see it coming as they are coasting, living on past glory, and don't notice what's actualy going on under their nose.
Perhaps it will blow over? I don't think it will. I take Ed25 point but players like Salah deserve respect and a chat to explain. If it's the case he was not spoken to, that is poor man management.
{Ed025's Note - when you throw your toys out of the pram Chrisy you lose that respect mate, what he done was disrespectful and all this "i deserve to play for what i have done for this club" makes him sound like a right tit imo, look im no fan of Slot but there are ways to go about things and he crossed the line..

People saying Slot has ruined Salah's form and confidence really need to have a hard think about what they're saying. First of all Salah, for better or worse, is not a player that ever lacks for confidence, that's what makes him an elite player, he is no longer as affected by misses, setbacks as he used to be when he first came to us, he stays in the game from first minute to the 90th minute and usually comes up with the numbers. He always believes he is the best player on the pitch even when he is playing like the worst, that is what makes him great, but it is also what makes him petulant when he has to step back for the rest of the team to thrive.
Second of all, there have been games this year, against Chelsea for example, where we were hitting Salah with the early ball out wide so that he could isolate Cucurella, exactly how he likes to receive the ball. I don't remember him having more than one successful dribble that night, he skied or dragged wide opportunities that he would usually bury after getting open in the box.
I am not somebody that believes that Mo is finished, his whole career he has been proving people who have doubted him wrong. I don't think he has lost that much pace either, in a foot race I still think there aren't that many full backs that can catch him in a straight sprint.
However blaming Salah's form on Slot and Slot's tactics is bizarre, particularly when there have been many games where we are still feeding Salah in the positions he loves to be in, he just hasn't produced, plain and simple. He is having an absolutely terrible season by his standards, that's just the truth (though there have been games where he has looked close to his best but not scored or assisted, like against Villa or Real, and coming off the bench recently) . There could be any number of reasons why he is playing badly, he could be affected by Jota's death more than we know, who knows, but using Salah's form as another stick to beat Slot on the head with is a very weird thing to do.
31 Dec 2025 12:40:40
Personally I think it’s a taint on Jota’s memory to keep excusing players poor performances and efforts on his passing.

Ed25 before you call Salah every insult in the book, I propose you go listen to what your own ex players Landon Donovan and esp. Tim Howard had to say about the whole Salah outburst on their podcast.
Essentially, Tim Howard said elite players with elite mentality (he played with Keane, Scholes, RVV, Ronaldo etc., btw) who have the type of drive to be the best every game and like Salah has proven to have, will accept being benched for a game or two PROVIDED the team is playing well and winning. Then, you let them back in the team to keep them hungry and focused.
If the opposite is happening and the team is still playing crap and not winning then sorry, they will NEVER accept it. Like ever. That is the reality with such players. Gerrard didn't accept it. Roberto Baggio didn't accept it when Del Piero took his spot in the 94/ 95 season. CR7 didn't accept it at United and Ruud Van Nistelroy didn't either at Utd. Juve and United eventually sold them off. See a trend here?
The only thing you can do is you either keep winning games to justify the decision (like Juve did and won the title without Baggio that season) which we weren't at the time. Or you sell them like Juve sold Baggio to AC Milan and United sent Ronaldo packing. Again, see a trend here?
So if you're not going to sell them then, you're going to have to manage such elite players and keep them hungry and motivated cos like it or not, you need them to succeed at the end of the day.
{Ed025's Note - and thats ok if they are producing the goods Oli, the fact is that Salah has been a total waste of space for a good few months now mate and because of HIS failings decided to throw the manager under the bus, now im no Slot fan but there is protocol you should follow if you are not happy...and that does not include slagging people off and running to the press because you were deservedly dropped, just my view of course..
31 Dec 2025 14:00:37
That may very well be so, jk, but the fact is that we have no way of knowing either way.
31 Dec 2025 14:12:21
PB Salah’s hardly being dragged kicking and screaming onto the pitch and out to the Afcon.
Quite the opposite he’s kicked off as he wasn’t playing.
You’re correct we will never actually know but if Salah, the manager of club and country and some of the best psychologists and doctors in the world think he’s ok to play then I tend to believe them over your opinion.
03 Jan 2026 13:03:37
JK - I can't believe I have to explain this but here goes. OP speculated Slot's actions and then used that speculation to assert Slot has done something wrong. That is really different to making a comment about how we're playing football.
