There is clearly something wrong up the hierarchy. How can it be ok to go into the second half of the season with only 2 center halves? It's like Edwards and Hughes have written off this season. We are 4th for crying out loud and the way Villa and City are playing, could actually end up 2nd.
Why would one not buy the 2 players that we so desperately need is beyond me. I will not be surprised to see us doing nothing now and then going ahead and spending 50 million on an unknown CB, when we could have got Guehi for much less.

Two centre halves one right back, and for 30m we could have a prem proven international defender who can cover both who we were hours from signing in the summer and who wanted to sign for us so you assume the due diligence is done. The only way it makes sense is if the focus has turned to Alonso coming in the summer and keeping the funds for him, although doesn't he like having 3 centre halves. Semenyo I can live with even though he would of instantly improved us, but I felt Guehi even at 30M with six month left in his contract is good value for a prem proven international with good attitude and professionalism who wanted to join the club, I only hope city and palace agreeing terms is what we are waiting for and from the Guehi camp it's to give us a prod to get our arses In gear….
but if VVD get injured, we will be looking favourites to win the europa league next season and playing teams we never heard of on Thursday nights………it one of those situations that seems to make no sense and you hope either we are bringing a better player of have something in the pipeline,

I'd really like to know the Eds's and itk's opinion on this. Both players want to join, both players are proven prem quality, both can play in more than 1 position and I'd argue both walk straight into our starting 11. Why have we not moved for either, especially guehi?

Yep sure, they are a shambles. The same two guys you were all praising in the summer for the best window in living memory! Wirtz, Isak, will come good, Frimpong a good squad player, Kerkez I'm not sure, a poor selection for me, and yes we 100% need two centre backs, but we may now also big for Guehi, and we might be pushing for others.
Schlotterbeck as good as Guehi at least, Bastoni better than both, Bastoni and ZTonsli through the centre would be ruthless good if you ask me.

Your reply really worries me. If it's genuine incompetence then I've given the yanks too much respect. I'm leaning towards not being able to or wanting to match what city could financially.

Edwards may not be everyone's cup of tea but he's been at the club before under a world class manager and chief executive etc he will know Hughes is a turd by now,
