Liverpool v Burnley - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Liverpool v Burnley - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

The Ekitike-Wirtz double act has to be what the next coach builds around. One of the few positives in this season.

Thanks for the review Ed. I agree with all that you wrote. We have the players to be playing much better and be much higher up the table. This season does feel like a wasted opportunity seeing how all the teams around us seem to be faltering.

{Ed001's Note - that's the most annoying thing, this is a missed chance. It is not so much that we are not winning, it is that we are not even challenging with a squad that is so much better than results suggest.}

Cheers for the write up, Ed.

You raise an important point. Even if he was given the CB so desperately need, it wouldn't change what Slot is serving up.

I expressed my concerns about Slot not tapping into the power of Anfield last season. Luckily we won the league without needing it. However, he's missed a massive trick in not leveraging it to save this season's malaise.

Thanks ED001, once again you've hit the nail on the head with everything! If I am not mistaken there had been boos heard in a couple of our previous games also.
It's pure ignorance that Slot and his team have not listened to what the fans want.

Earlier in the season you had an excuse with poor performances with the bedding in of new players, but when there has been no improvement at all and then senior players are speaking out it speaks volumes.

ED001.spot on with the review. I wanted Slot gone during them heavy defeats n that terrible run of 9 losses from 12 games, when was it for you when you thought, this can't go on.

{Ed001's Note - after the Villa and Madrid games, when he saw how to have success but decided to revert back to this terrible football again. That just said to me that he is too stubborn to see what is in front of his face and will just carry on doing what he thinks regardless.}

It does make you wonder what on earth is going on through Slot's head sometimes, every time we put a team to the sword in the first half, instead of telling the boys to do more of the same, Slot does the opposite. If we had scored a second or third then he can look to make changes and take our foot off the gas a bit. I hate comparing Slot to Klopp and the last thing I'd want to do is suggest that Slot should do what Klopp did, but this was the mentality that Klopp was famous for cultivating and it's what kept us fresh to win the biggest prizes too- put the game away early, then make changes to shut up shop and slow the game all the way down by playing keep ball.

Maybe he's decided that, as a dead man walking, being pragmatic is a wiser solution for him moving forward. Better to have unbeaten record than anything effective or representative of what is possible. Hard to motivate yourself when it seems everyone knows your keeping the seat warm.

Hi Ed001 - Thought you would mention about the first half penalty.

There was nothing in it and Gapko went down like a feather.

If it was given against us, many of us would have take the ref to the cleaners.

{Ed001's Note - I just completely forgot sorry. I agree, it was meant to be included in the bit about players going down easily.}

19 Jan 2026 13:27:35
ED001, very true, the Villa n Madrid game was our best this season, you'd think he would have stuck with that formula.

19 Jan 2026 13:29:21
Ngumoha playing a bit like Luis Diaz when he comes on. He has the beating of his defender with ease but not the delivery that's needed. He is very young and will improve so the best compliment i can think of is that i prefer we have him on the left than the more experienced Diaz.

Ed01, I said on here 3 months back when I gave up on Slot that as soon as a manager makes it about himself and trying to prove a point that he is right and is going to prove that his way works, they lose my support cos he doesn't give a rat's behind of the fans and the well-being of my club.

Most importantly, he no longer cares about actually doing his job i. e win games.

Get this guy gone, ASAP.

"My club" again, Oli. Nice.

19 Jan 2026 21:05:44
Rome, it's your club too. Are you happy now?

19 Jan 2026 22:05:10
I don't refer to it as "my club" Oli. It's an expression, I don't think I've ever used.

And I'm always happy.
