Without any inside knowledge, it looks to me like at least one big decision has already been made.
The fact that we are not actively looking for a set-piece coach replacement, chose not to bring Heitinga back in or sign either of Guehi or Semenyo in January despite the groundwork and need suggests that something big is afoot - and it could be more than just Slot's job.

I really hope if Alonso does join, he matches or exceeds a lot of posters expectations, that a former great player is going to propell us from current champions, Progressing in FA Cup and champions League. Having had to integrate 5 new players, 1 who arrived unfit with an injury and some players out of form.
In addition a disrupted pre season with the tragic loss of Diogo! Yes, slot needs to look at a few things! But are we in such a state that we pull the trigger, and if Xabi doesn't work bounce from manager to manager again!
Im a season ticket holder of 40 years, i love our club, i know we have areas of concern but, i want to see him turn this around!

Dont think a setpiece coach or assistant (when we already have one) effects people as high up as Edwards, Hughes and Wards positions.
