I'll have to not look at anything football related from March to possibly September now that Arsenal pretty much won the league
And that irritating arrogant POTtrash will go on and on with his philosophies and gimmicks he comes out with

Not bad for over a billion spending to reach the top spot

Then you will get the Klopp vs Arteta questions and memes

God help social media if they win all four comps.

I can't stand them either, but I'm becoming resigned to letting them have their 15 minutes of fame.

I'm more looking at the bottom of the table now, and hoping Spurs go down. I live in North London, and I'm surrounded by Spurs fans who, I have to say, are the worst fans on the planet.

Most won't even watch the games now, they have completely checked out. Some are even saying they hope they go down because it will serve the owners right.

I've never known a group of fans who hate their own team so much.

This website is a bit of a microcosm of the way all Spurs fans are. They'd rather whinge and moan about the team and boo them off the pitch than actually try to help by supporting them. It does remind me of some posters on here.

Sticks and stones and all that, mate. We all know who the better manager is, and the style of footy we played to win our trophies...

Arteta may just become the next Slot then, after winning this PL this season.

Hopefully, there's another style shift in the league and he's stuck with a squad of rugby players.

Varry, the only moaning people do is about Slot and rightly so. You and certain posters are digging deep to protect him which is fine, but it doesn't disguise anything.

4 of my mates are Spurs fans and they're all pretty good lads. At no stage do I ever look at them and believe I'm part of the greatest fans in the world and they are beneath me.

Unfortunately, some Liverpool fans even look at other Liverpool fans and think and believe that.

To be fair, the amount of pain Spurs fans have had to endure is quite extraordinary, I mean, there's an entire adjective widely used by all football fans to refer to their club, I'd forgive them for having some kind of complex as a result.

Most of my friends are Arsenal fans, and the rest are Liverpool fans. Interestingly, all of the Arsenal fans got on board during the Wenger years (they are all 30-ish years old), and fell in love with the style of play with Bergkamp, Vieira, Overmars, Pires, Henry etc.

Now they defend Arteta to the hilt, say he's a bit of a genius, and love the Stoke City tactics, saying stylish football just doesn't work in the modern world, etc. I find it all to be kind of bizarre. Of course they can't be taken as being representative of Arsenal fans at large, but I just find it odd that they fell for a club because of a certain style, and have become so accepting, even enthusiastic, about a style that is pretty much the polar opposite, even though it has yet (for the time being) failed to yield results.

Wenger's Arsenal were more often than not a joy to watch. I've never watched a full Arteta Arsenal game outside of playing Liverpool.

It's like Yin and Yang. Just hope this current Slot philosophy of playing football doesn't take us down the same path.

What pains me the most is that we are gonna lose our title to this specific Arsenal team w/o putting up anything resembling a fight. Not even close. A team this dire is who we are gonna lose to after smoking one of the best teams ever built in Europe to break our title drought and win no. 19? Really? Sorry, that, to me, is absolutely criminal.

I can take an L cos I understand you cannot win all the time, and sometimes teams are better than you, play and perform better than you. What I, however, will never accept is when my team did nothing anywhere near close to putting up an honest fight. Not in a million years.

To me, that will always be on Slot for this season, end of.

15 Mar 2026 10:22:17
Yeah, agree with that, Oli. Not putting up any resemblance of a fight all season is the killer for me. As u say, u can't win all the time, and u can't play well all the time, but u should fight all the time.
If Liverpool are beat it happens, but go down swinging.

I still stand by my opinion that it's not all Slot's fault. There has been a disconnect from the transfer team and Slot, and somehow we haven't been well equipped to perform like we should this season. Edwards and Hughes have a long term plan to blow up the team and slowly replace all the key pieces, and that plan is only about half complete right now, they made a wager that we would challenge regardless because the squad was strong enough. Little did we know that Mo would founder in this new system and we would be racked with injuries. Still Hughes and Edwards didn't think it was worth panicking and buying targets who weren't top of the list in January, and felt like we could get CL anyway.

For Slot to be able to win now, he would need the personnel required to correspond to the way he wants to control games. In this way I think the video by the Athletic is quite instructive, in that we have a team coached by Klopp to play with speed and aggression, and have bought a mix of players who are used to playing at varying tempos, and what we have is a bit of a mish mash of players and as a result we are not the best at playing fast or slow, even though we have been able to muddle through with a mix of both up till now, at least well enough to be in the mix for top 4. If you look at it from that perspective that's actually a tiny bit of an achievement.

We can say Arsenal are crap and play crap football all we want, the thing is that they have a clear philosophy, have bought all the players they need to make it work, and have stockpiled players in all the positions that matter to provide cover and consistency for that style of football. They are slow and boring, but that's by intention and design, and they execute what they are trying to do well. That is the difference between them and us at this moment in time, and there is no point bemoaning the fact and complaining that we haven't put up a fight.

We can only hope that there is a clear vision at the top with the kind of football we want to play and whether we have the personnel required to do it. What seems clear to me is that we need to play more direct, front foot football, that seems obvious to lots of people on this board, because that's what our players clearly excel at, the likes of Ekitike, Frimpong, Kerkez, Gakpo, Isak, they are direct, instinctive, athletic players.

It's pretty clear that a change of coach is necessary now, lest we spend a huge amount of money changing the DNA of the team, but questions surely have to be asked of the transfer team for buying players who, on paper, are top class players, but who don't appear to be the best match for Slot's own vision. Surely the priority should be, if you're going to back your coach, to give him the tools he needs to play the football he wants? I think Slot has made some bad decisions this year, like playing Macca consistently over Jones when Jones seems to be tailor made for Slot's style of play and has consistently shown this, but I still can't help but feel that he's being made to be the scapegoat for the failings of planning from above.
