Hello ed1 hope u well or as well as u can be after another disappointing day for lfc!
As regards Curtis jones I've always thought he could progress to becoming really good player for us if injuries stopped. His injuries have stopped and he hasn't progressed at all, I've been disappointed in him. I only caught start of game yesterday between 1 thing and another but I seen jones come on and to me his attitude in 1st 10mins he on was a disgrace, walked about and give impression he couldn't care less imo.
I know we've had awful season everyway so it not just him but if he is as big a lfc man as he says he is he should be bursting a gut for club regardless whether he likes manager r not. I know u have been a fan of jones threw the years I wonder what your opinion on him now? To me nyoni, on limited bits I've seen of him, could easily do jones's role and bit more.
{Ed001's Note - Jones let us all down once again, there is no excuse for strolling about when we are losing. I have to be honest, I would be seriously reconsidering his new deal.}

I'm with you, Digger. Very surprised he didn't kick on. I'd still like to see him under a different manager, but certainly a lot of the blame is on him.
I thought once he quickened his passing a little bit, he would become a fine player, but instead of improving his weaknesses, he seems to have regressed in his strengths.
I do hope we keep him, as I think he would perform better in a high-work-rate, high-intensity environment than the slow, low-intensity environment he is in now.
{Ed025's Note - but Davey he is one of the main culprits why the tempo and work rate is so slow mate..

Although Curtis is ok to have around, I don't see he offers much that Trey couldn't, or even Endo. I'm not sure what he's really good at.
Usually, with a prem standard player, you would have one major stand out skill set or physical attribute that sees you get picked most weeks. He can shield the ball and pass backwards and sideways, that's not enough.

Jones has the tools to be a good player. Remember he had the England call up n was MOTM when he played, that's how he should be playing all the time, but for some reason the penny never dropped.
Wasn't it Milner who said he gave a pep talk to him n Milner said looks like I will have to give another one to him because he looked like it never sank in.

He looked totally disinterested last Sunday when coming on against Spurs.
I genuinely think Slot has lost the dressing room.
Yes, they turned up on Wed against Gala, but they've lost 10 league games this season, which is the most in a decade. And, in the majority of those losses, the players look like they don't have a care in the world.

It's such a shame. The lad is obviously extremely talented, but as the saying goes, talent only gets you so far.
It feels like he's become a bit stubborn with everything that's gone on behind the scenes. Instead of rolling his sleeves up and showing everyone what he's made of, it comes across more like he's sticking his fingers up and saying, "I know how good I am - I don't need to prove it."
That's the body language I'm getting from him, and it's not a great trait.
It's starting to make him look poor, both as a player and as a person.
Sad, really, because I liked the kid.

Jones lacks desire, I don't think he believes he needs to prove anything. Listen to him speak; it's all "I am good at this" or "I am better at this than some of the players."
I honestly think he has the same quality as Jordan Henderson, but Hendo had that purpose. He wanted to prove people wrong, and he was good enough. Even when Rodgers offered him to Fulham in his early 20s, he said no, I want to stay and fight to become better.
Finally, when Jurgen sat him down and told him that he was no longer going to start every game, he said thanks for the journey and left, because he had that desire to keep playing.
You will never improve if you don't think you need to. I would like to see him chasing back and see tackles flying in, rather than him running around waiting for someone to give him it, so he can pass it five yards backwards.

Always liked Jones. His attitude was always right, even when his game was a bit off. Top player when he moves it quick. But in the last while something's off, and, like said above, he was terrible when he came on yesterday.
22 Mar 2026 10:03:11
Jones wasn't good yesterday, tbh. He did a lot of strolling around which I cannot let go of, like others on here.
Sadly, if it were only him doing that, then that would not have been such a big deal, as the issue is isolated to one player.
Now, when you have other players doing the exact same thing, then the problem is collective; hence, the root cause can only be found elsewhere, imo.
22 Mar 2026 10:11:03
Again, they are professional players. Paid to play football to the best of their abilities. If they are strolling around, that is on absolutely no one but themselves.
22 Mar 2026 10:11:21
I've never seen a more over-rated player. If he wasn't from Liverpool he'd be playing in the Conference League.
22 Mar 2026 10:13:13
Jones just isn't that good, much like all our midfielders. He is okay at times, but hasn't really improved since about 2022, and is 25 now.
I'm a harsh critic, and I think even Szoboszlai has major weaknesses in his game, but I'm not overdoing it by saying that the only reason to keep Jones is to have a Scouse connection in the team, and that's really it.
22 Mar 2026 11:06:49
How much longer should the club give him? Yes, he is a Scouser, but that is not enough to keep him at the club. He has not improved since he broke into the squad. I think, for his own good, he needs to move on, maybe abroad, play where the pressure is not on him to perform.
22 Mar 2026 11:19:21
I must be in the minority on here, because I have always thought that he was not good enough to play regularly for Liverpool. Too slow, holds on to the ball, hardly ever a forward pass. Needs to move him on in the summer.
22 Mar 2026 11:20:47
Players look slow and disinterested because they're fed up dealing with an incapable manager who deploys ineffective tactics and can't even keep a group of elite-level professionals fit enough to run for 70 minutes, let alone 90. It's a complete and utter joke. How he ever made it past November is beyond me. He's been found out. The summer can't come quick enough.
Jones is a decent squad player; he can cover a number of positions well. I don't know exactly where we are with the limit on foreign players, but bringing in homegrown talent of similar capability and experience to Jones would cost you a fortune. He has shown flashes of brilliance at times, and he could definitely improve under a new manager.
I think he's been extremely frustrated, both with himself for not breaking into the first team given the promise and expectation, and even more so with Slot.
"It's not all about having lads that are nice on the ball and just play and play and play."
Clearly, Jones was talking about Slot's extraordinarily ineffective, high-possession-based Temu tiki-taka tactics. That was back in November. No wonder they're fed up. Nobody can recognise a manager's incapability more so than the players. Once the squad decides the manager is making all the wrong choices, the situation becomes untenable. Talk amongst players, questions, and doubts quickly turn into a complete lack of trust.
22 Mar 2026 11:38:49
Course it does chewy. That way you get to take absolutely no responcibility for the abject performance you and your teammates put in yesterday.
{Ed001's Note - well you give no responsibility to Slot, so why should the players take any? You are fine with him buggering off back to Holland and not even putting in a bit of extra work analysing the complete balls up he is making, why is it you want to attack the players only?}
22 Mar 2026 12:23:05
Nobody on here has ever once said the players should take no responsibility. The general consensus is that the brunt of that weight must be shouldered by the manager due to the glaringly obvious, ineffective tactical changes he's made. If you can't recognise those changes then I don't blame you for having a deluded viewpoint, technically it's not your fault.
But your feeble attempt to shelve all responsibility onto the players when the managers made such drastic changes from what was a perfectly working formula is beyond ignorant.
22 Mar 2026 18:59:32
Florian blames the players for the exact same thing Slot does. How ironic.
