I've been a long-time reader but rarely post. After today, though, I wanted to share my perspective.

The club seems to have failed to create a joined-up vision for how we want to play. The summer signings are good players, but they don't appear suited to how Slot wants his team to play.

Personally, I don't understand why a side that was performing so well needed such a significant overhaul in either players or tactics. It felt like it only needed a couple of additions and a couple of departures.

Instead, Slot has been left with a poorly balanced squad that is lacking in key areas.

The Jota tragedy will have been difficult for both the players and the club, and that shouldn't be overlooked.

Ultimately, though, people have to be judged on their specific responsibilities.

Slot needs to motivate the players and find a system that works with what he has. I also believe he should help shape the club's overarching strategy — and in that regard, he has fallen short.

Hughes was brought in to sign top players who fit that strategy, but instead it feels like recruitment has been handled like a game of Football Manager.

Edwards has allowed all of this to happen.

So, in my view, all three have fallen short.

I don't have the answers — and that's always harder than pointing out the problems. As a fan, though, all I really want is a cohesive club, with players who are playing for the shirt. At the moment, we're getting neither.

It may be time for Slot to go, but there's little point in making that change unless the wider structural issues are addressed as well.

Good post.
Seems to be a disconnect between what we put on the pitch and our overall "strategy".

That, for me, is why getting rid of Slot only is not a fix. Because all those involved are culpable.

Slot drained all our bench and youth players of all confidence, and us as fans confident in them by refusing to play them. What a s****y thing to do, he needs to leave now.

04 Apr 2026 19:37:51
A good starting point would be someone ringing Slot tonight and telling him to do one.

04 Apr 2026 19:39:31
Didn't see the game as I had a family occasion to attend and there was no way I was gonna forgo that to waste 2 hours on an LFC game under this feckless manager, for I knew from jump, I was never getting back.

Edwars and Huges allowed this to happen cos they made it about themselves, pure and simple. The manager has been failing from the off this season, but they literally came out to support this manager while he was struggling and failing cos again, they made it about themselves.

Screw the club, the fans and our ambitions.

They told us to, "Suck it up. We back this manager and all his nonsense and we ain't changing. Do your worst". That was it for me. I guess, this is what you get when you have mates running the show. No accountability nor consequences. Instead, they continuously rewarded bad behavior till this day. Slot ain't the issue no mere. Those two enabling clown are.

Winning the league their first season in charge was the worst thing that could happen. All 3 got way too cocky and decided that they knew what was best individually, forgetting that Liverpool is a team effort. The situation's untenable, all 3 need to go as soon as the season's over, otherwise the players will start looking for a move, Macca and Konate have 1 foot out the door, Dom and Ekitike must be on everyone's radar, plenty of clubs would love to pick up Isak on the cheap.

We're heading for disaster if this doesn't get sorted asap.

Oli, you miss every week, mate.

Supporting a super successful club on the TV from thousands of miles away is a choice not a lifestyle.

04 Apr 2026 21:03:19
Well said, JK. Let's face it, if Oli and many others like him never watched us again, they'd hardly be a great loss to LFC. If that offends, I couldn't give a flying f***.

04 Apr 2026 21:45:20
Rome, you lust think I give a flying football what your pompous "I go to games hence, I am a better fan than you" arse thinks, yeah? You and your pathetic ilk can go fly a kite, as well. I didn't know you existed and pretty sure you won't be missed either. See how that pathetic rant can be aimed at you, now? The other geezer need not be paid attention to. Not now. Not ever.

We have people who go to games at Anfield booing the team or leaving before the games are over. I read that the away fans (the most loyal I keep getting told) were leaving the Etihad 10 mins or more before the game ended. We got fans waking up in the middle of the night to watch us play and now, can't be arsed. Are you now better than them because you watched till the end or go to Anfield, suddenly? Yeah, not flex you think it is because no one cares.

Just so you know. You will never, ever be a better fan than any LFC fan inside or ouside the shores of England. Get over it and for your own sake, get over you pompous, self-absorbed self. Just some friendly advise.

04 Apr 2026 22:28:20
All 3 of the Stooges need to go. The club is being run by muppets with zero business acumen, and the owners are now too old to give a flying...

Happy days. Could be worse, could be Hicks and Gillett or Moores and Parry, but only just... We need to be very careful lest we fall into an abyss.

04 Apr 2026 22:40:10
Oli, you're right. Your support for Liverpool rivals my support for 91 other clubs in the English leagues. I don't watch or go to their games either, but on the internet I can say I support them.

Which, in this day and age, that's all that counts.

04 Apr 2026 22:34:14
Who mentioned going to games, Oli? Go back to your YouTube or whatever streaming platform you watch us on.

And to get things right, people who pay to watch us, home and away, here and abroad, are better fans than you and I, so swivel on it.

05 Apr 2026 10:35:27
Rome and JK, I have a lot of time for you guys and respect your opinion, but the whole "you don't go to games so you're less of a fan" argument is incredibly narrow-minded.

I've been a Liverpool fan for just over 30 years, and have only managed to the occasional friendly against Scottish teams because, for one reason or another, I've never been financially in a position to justify the trip to see us at Anfield. Even now, when I do have the means to do it as an absolute special occasion treat to myself, I have 3 young kids who I would rather spend the money on.

I don't care if someone says "you're a bigger fan of your kids than you are of the club", because that's true, but I don't particularly appreciate the inference that someone is a lesser fan because they can't get to games.

Fair enough, Oli has a way about him that could be considered slightly antagonistic at times, but not one of us knows him in the real world and can't judge him on the fact that he doesn't attend games live.

Sorry guys, as I said I respect both of you as posters and as fans, but as fans of a globally huge club, this is a bit of a silly drum to be banging.

05 Apr 2026 11:11:05
Rugby, you seem to like to get offended by my posts, mate.

I've never ever said fans that go to games are better fans than ones that don't. But I've also never claimed to be part of the best fans in the world brigade.

Choosing to support a highly successful team is a choice.

And then choosing to not watch them when they aren't playing well sounds very much like a glory hunting plastic fan.

If it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck, then usually it's a duck.

05 Apr 2026 13:14:57
I don't like getting offended at all, JK, mate, and I'm generally pretty thick skinned, but if you're denying you bust Oli's chops because he doesn't go to games and has an opinion, then that's just not true.

Liverpool are a successful club, but that's not necessarily the reason many fans choose to support them. My dad is a bluenose, so at a young age I chose to support Liverpool because it would be good banter, my knowledge and love for the club came after that.

As I said, I respect and enjoy your posts, and if your opinion on something differs from someone else on here, then that's fair enough, but not being able to go to games is not a reason to deride that person's opinion/take.

Incidentally, I do agree with you that saying you're not going to watch the team you claim to love because they're playing badly is plastic fan behaviour. In fact, it is pretty much the very definition of a plastic fan.

Anyway, agree to disagree as this thread is now on page 4 and it's a pain in the hoop to try and find the responses. Happy Easter and all the best.

05 Apr 2026 13:44:51
Rugby, that's where we'll have to agree to disagree then mate. There's plenty of posters on here who don't go to games and I've never questioned them as fans.

I'm sure Oli appreciates you defending his honour and If we beat PSG on Wed night I'm sure he'll be back in his ivory tower citing he watched the game despite confirming himself he never ever watches Liverpool.

"05 Feb 2024 11:11:12
Thanks, ED033. I don't watch games live anyway and only watch it recorded in the evening so i'm all good, personally."
