Just wondering how the top Chiefs are thinking. Edwards, Hughes and Slot have one year left on their contracts. Hughes will maybe leave end summer. Edwards are reported unhappy that the multi club project are cancelled. Still Edwards and Hughes are running the show.

I just can't get a grip on why? What is the plan? Everything shows short thinking and no one will stand up.

I'm hoping that Slot are gone very soon, but not convinced. With those two in charge, I fear that their ego takes control and panic hits everybody in November. Unfortunately the fans will pay the price.

FSG are really causing me concern at the moment as they've allowed this situation to get toxic and I'm questioning their ambition.

My worry is how their big plans for the summer window are going to unfold.

"I am a director who is leaving next year, would you like to come and play for a manager who is also definitely leaving next year at the latest, but in all likelihood will be gone by October, then after that I have no idea who we're hiring or whether he will even want you?"

It's not the easiest sell to a player in demand.

We won the league last season! I'm no fan of Slot's, but come on!

20 May 2026 19:56:12
So the same FSG that literally saved the club, improved the stadium, built a new training complex, spent millions on new players, brought Klopp in, that FSG, the ones you now don't trust because Arne has had a crap season? Arne is the problem, not FSG.

I will continue to trust them making the right decisions about our club. They have a track record of listening, why all of a sudden do you think that has changed?

20 May 2026 19:59:42
Klopp, not sure it's their ambition I'd be questioning so much as their decision making. But, agreed: they have allowed this to become toxic. When players like Mo feel the need to come out to stop the rot, it's not a good look.

Squad harmony has been a strength for years under Klopp, and Slot has destroyed that. Klopp was given bricks and built a city, Slot was given a city and is giving us back rubble.

It's a bit weird to question FSG's ambition after their massive spend last summer. I really don't think Hughes warrants the dislike: he bagged a manager who won the title, and secured us an array of talent last summer, who have underperformed but will be the base to build the team around (with a new manager or a born again Slot).

If anything, he suffers from the same lack of ruthlessness as Klopp. He should have let Mo go on a high, and cashed in on Mac, who seems to have been carrying some kind of injury for a year now.

So, I suspect he will stick with Slot. A mistake, in my view, as once you've lost the fans, you are done for.

Nobodies had a contraact extension, that speaks volumes. After spending $450m to barely scrape 5th and lose the entire fanbase you can be sure FSG are less than impressed. Don't be surprised if the current hierarchy is phased out. Slot first and the other 2 fools to follow once replacements have been found.

They have allowed this situation to fester cos they have their mates running the show in Edwards, Hughes, Ward etc. This is what happens when you put mates in charge.

You give them way more lattitude than they deserve, with very little oversight, not cos they are very good at their jobs (cos Edwards is a terrinble DOF). But, cos you like them as people, hence love "working" with them even if they are drowning us all.

The fact that FSG seems to have been jolted into action after Salah's post sounding the alarm of the club crumbling just tells you how detached they are with the goings-on at the club. Cos to them, "Mike and Rick got this covered. They'll sort it."

20 May 2026 21:45:50
How has Edwards suddenly become the problem? We were all delighted when he returned.

20 May 2026 22:11:40
I wasn't delighted when he returned. This faux messiah mythos around him because he chose Salah over Klopp is laughable.

20 May 2026 23:39:10
Frode, that's not a fair analysis. Fans were excited by Edwards' return as, rightly or wrongly, he was seen as the driving force behind our great signings (personally I would give Ian Graham that credit).
The whole signing strategy fell apart when Klopp took control of the ship: Gakpo, Darwin were his pushes, against the wishes of Julian Ward.

Any manager has to manage his squad; he can feed into what players need to come in, but it is best for any club that the backroom team drive the choices. Mo over Brandt is a great example of a transfer team having a better handle than a manager.

Edwards is not DoF!

21 May 2026 07:58:32
Rigsby, haven't seen you in a while. Hope all is well. Yeah, Edwards is not the DOF. I meant to say Edwards "was" a terrible DOF, not "is" a terrible DOF.

My overall point still stands.
