Fellas
Whether you like Konate or not just imagine the team this year without him? We were depleted last season. Now add Konate, Robertson who was hardly used, and Salah - I know it’s not even June but me personally I am extremely worried how thin this squad is …..
I say this by not counting on Bradley return or Gomez or Elliott cos when u hardly play u r not really reliable.
I just don’t believe this club will buy or loan 8-9 players.

Add in a coach who gets players fit enough to play intensive football.
A coach who improves players.
A coach who can get players to fit into his system.
The squad was bloated last year, bloated, unbalanced, unmotivated and unfit.
We don't need that many new players in my opinion, but we do need a coach who will get the players fit and will optimise their abilities.
Bloating the squad because your players are unfit and out of form is not the solution.

It seems pretty clear we will recall a couple of loans, buy Wharton and Diomande or Barcola, another midfielder and a utility back. I don't worry about central defence. Guys like Nyoni and Morrison will get more minutes.
We need a new coach though. This one is shot.

I fully agree, we were thin on the ground to begin with without all these departures. No wonder they have blocked Ali's move, but there's rumours about Curtis Jones also leaving.
Didn't Slot say about a 'lot of new players coming in' last season as an excuse? It'll be nothing compared to what will be needed this season.

We are not getting rid of Konate. We are not re-signing him. There's a difference.
To keep him would mean giving him another contract and it'd be like signing him again, which would be a mistake.
We need to do more work on replacements than we thought after the season we had, but Konate thinks he is worth more than the club does.
Him staying would give us another body, but it's not seen as value for money.
I agree. If the two young centre halves are not seen as ready, then a better value Konate replacement shouldn't be too difficult to find.

Doesn't matter how crap we think he is in today's market, it's about 35£ million walking out the door that has got to piss FSG off.
{Ed001's Note - 35m? He is struggling to stir up interest for a free move, no one would pay 35m for him.}

We had to rely on him all season, which was terrible.

Ideally we'd have kept him to allow the new cbs to find their feet, but from a footballing perspective he is very replaceable.

We would have been better off without Konate this season. The chap can't spell 'coordination'. He looks like a child in a baby walker every time he moves. It's just annoying we're letting yet another player go on a free. It's a joke.

Don't hold back Chewy. ?

Chewy, it's like he's playing Whack-a-mole with his feet.
