I’m less excited about the possibility of Rayan than I was about Diomande and that was already an extremely low bar. However, outside of an Olise, there’s very little quality out there. For anything more than 50-60 million, he looks like your typical Savinho type, the odd flick and trick, but generally a whole load of nothing.
I think Munoz will be the star signing regardless of who else we bring in. For 100 million, Barcola is an outrageous price, but then again we spent that kind of money on Wirtz so compared to that he looks a relative bargain. He’s also a good few levels above all of our current midfielders.

Diomande has better stats than the other two. Had a very poor World Cup.

He kept it basic in the World Cup but what do you expect when he is brand new to the International scene and very young, however, they clearly see someone in him to call him up and actually start him.
I personally, really liked the look of him in the Premier League last season considering his age and a brand new culture/football style.
He seemed very mature in his performances and appeared to have good decision making.
I would be more than happy to take him and he's only going to get better.

I cannot wait for the Wirtz haters to eat their words.

So basically, there is one right winger you would approve of Liverpool signing?

Agreed TjRed. Wirtz is an extremely gifted player and it's just adaptation time for him to come good.
People underestimate how different the game is from Germany to Premier League. It's not just speed and physicality; defending is totally different. Takes some time to get used to it.

Olise to Real.

It's not a case of "Wirtz haters", TjRed. When you pay the amount of money that we did, we all expected more from him. He was bang average, and I'm being kind. He needs to step up this season and justify the outlay.

Rome, Wirtz didn't ask to be bought for that price enuff with making such targeted statements like that cos that's not his nor any player's fault, for that matter.
You say Wirtz was bang average. Well, so was the whole team, so going after him alone seems like scapegoating.
Now, if you agree that the system and tactics did not help team (nor anyone really), then again, you are just scapegoating.
We will see what happens, cos not only Wirtz is under the microscope. Guess what? So is the manager and many other players, regardless of how much they were signed for.
17 Jul 2026 09:45:45
You're totally correct, Rome.
17 Jul 2026 10:34:26
OliRed, Rome is entitled to his opinion.
Do you not think that expectations increase when players are bought for huge sums? Mine are.
Or maybe I expected more because of how highly he was talked up on here.
Let's hope he starts to meet our expectations next season. ?

The slow football didn't suit Wirtz and apart from Sobo and Ekitike the rest were as bad.
17 Jul 2026 17:18:41
Give it a rest, Oli. Is Wirtz a relative of yours? I'm not scapegoating him. I'm responding to a remark made by another poster. I could easily be slagging off one of our other players, which is my right to do so. I hardly think they'll be offended.
