Unless I'm missing something, with now Diomande looking very unlikely, I don't really get why we're pivoting to Barcola.

I know he can play on the right, but he seems like a lw (I know he played RW at Lyon). We already have Gakpo and Rio, who can play on the left.

Just seems odd that we are going for something we have when we have a massive hole on the right.

I'm not saying he's not better than our LW options, just seems odd. And it isn't exactly going to be cheap. I can't say I've watched him a lot, but when I have, I wouldn't have said he was a 120m player.

The regular rumour posters on here with the better track records have said we're pivoting to Rayan. Barcola seems to be unrelated to replacing Salah, and more of a Gakpo replacement.

I imagine that we're buying Barcola to start on the left, and somebody else to start on the right. There's no way that we're pitching a move to a left winger telling him he's going to play out of position.

That being said, though, Sadio moved from the right to the left and became the best left winger in the world in the process, so you never know.

I'm not sure who will play on the right, but I'm 100 percent sure it does not have to be a left footer.

Sometimes there might be a little adjustment period, but a right footed winger opens up a different set of options down that side.

I actually like the thought of Barcola right side, but maybe he gets the left if he comes. Either way, someone will adjust to the right.

The quality of the winger is most important. Not the foot preference.

Still trying to replace Sadio Mane, mate.

Something the club's been doing for a very long time now and spent a lot of money doing so. 5th player now? 6th?

You never know. We don't know if Barcola can do on the right wing what Sadio did on the left? And why can't he? It's up to Iraola and the recruiting staff to make that judgement, before buying him.

Salah asked Klopp where he would be playing, before joining, since Sadio was on the right. Klopp simply replied "Sadio will play on the left, you will be on the right". He knew.

Well, as long as the wingers are interchangeable, Barcola and/or Rayan would be sound investments, imho.
I remember, back in the days, when things weren't going quite to plan up front, Bill Shankly got Ian Callaghan and Peter Thompson to swap wings.
Seemed to work pretty well back then.

Everyone, please remember Rio is 17 and still not grown into his body. Expecting 60 games out of him a season could wreck him. Let's have a little patience. We are going to need as many forwards as possible.

As far as I can tell, we've been pursuing both Diomande and Barcola, but some people have mistaken the Barcola move as a Diomande backup plan.
