He's got the legs of a 35 year old now. Unless you are going to surround him with 9 physical players that do his running, it seems unlikely we will see him back in the Premier League.

I voted an Emphatic Yes. He's a million miles above anyone else who we have for that position. Both the team and him would thrive under Iraola. I'd have him back in the morning.

Even putting aside how he left, I still wouldn't fancy him to be honest. Unbelievable player on his day, but once he started smelling himself he got too big for his boots. Arne saw it and used to sub him a lot. Tuchel and Southgate didn't fancy him and the season he left he was injured a lot too.
I still remember that video where he chose that he'd rather win the Ballon d'Or than the World Cup or captain Liverpool... showed me exactly what his character was, and to be honest, local boy or not... thanks for the memories, Trent, but I'd rather find the next Trent rather than go back personally.

Wow 60% "yes" and 40% "no" so far with about 600 votes. I'm quite surprised by the results so far.
I personally think he's not a good RB, which is what we need, so I voted "no". Our backline needs solid defenders. A solid defence can win you a title, even during periods in the season when it's hard to get many goals.
Our defence right now is so bloody weak. Trent would not fix that at all!
We needed to go after someone like Kayode before he extended his contract last month. I'd love Kounde if that's doable. Trent is not who we need. He's the past; let's move on to better targets.

Greg, I get what you are saying. But Trent was a good RB option during Klopp's time with us.
Where he doesn't work is where the RCB is not strong or switches often.
A lot of people have said we shouldn't be rotating CBs, not least as the specialised position, loosely called 'RB', that Trent played leans on a very good understanding with his CB to step in when he goes up field/into midfield.
My, possibly flawed, interpretation is that Iraola plays a similar way to Klopp, so I can see how Trent, with a solid reliable CB (hopefully Jacquet) could work in the way that he worked with Gomez in our title winning season under Klopp or latterly with Konate (before he got worse!), then I could see the rationale to bring back a player who plays like Trent does.
I voted Yes as I was thinking what would improve our team right now, and ignoring the baggage, the price, the costs etc.
