A few reports abound about us potentially being linked with Dani Carvajal (usual click bait sites) on a free.

When I first read it, I thought "this could be interesting", he's still a top RB when fit.

However, a) I really liked seeing Araujo there, especially if we have non-specialist RWs ahead of him, his more defensive approach means there's more of a solid defensive unit behind them.

b) it's the whole 'when fit' thing. He's missed 80 games over the last 2 seasons with injury, the most serious being a cruciate ligament tear that kept him out for most of the 24/25 season.

So my view, if any of these stories were true, would be a 'no thanks', esp as Ronald has come to us for gametime.

However, does anyone have an alternative view?

I agree, Zed, and would add that he's probably done at the top level now, would bring a different set of problems to a position we've got plenty of problems in at the moment.

I'm happy with Araujo and Frimpong covering it depending on the opposition, with Bradley to take the place of Frimpong when he's back fully fit.

The big problem with Araujo playing there is we currently have no other CBs available for the bench.

That's true livered, we don't have other CBs, but we do have a RB in Frimpong, should any of the 3 specialist CBs on the pitch get an injury.

Also, Gomez is due back in mid-September and Leoni in mid-October, so cover is coming.

Also, looking at our bench in the last game, Endo and Gravenberch could play CB in a pinch, albeit not as suitable as Gomez or Leoni.

I think we have adequate cover with Bradley and Gomez coming back.

A middle aged, one legged Spaniard RB. You don't see many of them limping about these days.

I think we can’t register any more over-21s non-homegrown players, can we?

So he wouldn’t be able to play for us…

He had a sweet beard back in the day though - we don’t have enough strong facial hair in this team. There I said it!

I said it before and will say it again.

Besides being completely toast/finished at elite level and unable to speak a lick of English, Dani Carvajal is well known in Spain for his extremely conservative political views and openly supports far right parties.

Keep that nazi scum out of our club at any cost.
