So on Iraola.
Good start I think. Lots of positives in the general play and lots of areas to improve, which I believe we will see as the season goes on.
Question though; he has always talked about having short contracts and that's fine, so what do we think the deal is? Will it be an annual renewal of a 2 year contract if he does well, the occasional running it down if the likes of RM/Barca come calling or the family want to go back home?
The whole 2 year contract thing is just so alien to me that it feels like we will constantly be worrying about if there'll be a renewal at every seasons end.

What's more important to me is the communication between club and coach so they know what is coming up.

Yeh I wouldn't worry, contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on. I like it, backs himself and not looking for an easy payday if things don't go well (see Chelsea). If he does well he's in a strong negotiation position come the renewal.
Let's not worry about that, once he falls in love with Liverpool the rest is history. when was the last time a club poached our manager anyway?

He's only just signed a 2 year deal, speculating on what the next one will be (if there even is one) this soon, is completely pointless; it's not even a discussion at this stage.

Because the man is not going to commit himself to an enormous, all-encompassing job if there is a strong likelihood it could affect his family life. In my opinion, that is about as fair as it gets.

Can't remember any manager wanting to leave lfc. Either they run out of steam and needed break/retire or it didn't work out and they and the club parted ways/sacked.

I think the manager has been clever taking a two year contract. The pull of LFC is something you have to take you would regret it for the rest of your life. In his case he has watched the mess at the club under Edwards, Hughes and Slot so has opted for a two year deal in case it is a sh*t show and let's be honest the transfer window would not fill you with confidence so I think he has made a wise decision but I hope he is here to stay.

Makes sense. There's an element of honour in it by saying "if I fail, it won't cost as much to sack me", but also means that if Iraola does a great job, he's in line for a tasty wage rise without having to sit on a big contract.
To me, it shows the faith he has in himself, while also giving him the flexibility if his family/home life takes him back to Spain.

@Chewy, it depends if one likes to torment oneself in dreaming up the worst case hypothetical scenario and then convincing oneself that it'll happen. I believe it's the 'glass half empty club'.
