Now City have effectively been found guilty, they really need to set a precedent and make an example of them. Stripping titles is pointless, as we know they were tainted anyway, the record books will show this. But it must be a huge point deduction to the level that we have never seen, this point deduction should carry over to the following season until they are back in positive points. The owners should also be held accountable, they can afford any fine they get so should be forced to sell the club due to the fraud that has clearly been committed.
I'm fine with rich owners owning clubs but the level of this cheating has never been seen before in English football, or that's been highlighted at least, so city should be the poster boys of what this level of cheating brings. The rewards of cheating were huge for city with them growing the club like they did, so the punishment should fit the crime.

Hearing rumours that Everton will be relegated for this.

Why is Everton suddenly getting brought into this, exactly?
Serious question.

It's a joke Oli.

There's a running joke online Oli for the last few years about the FA punishing Everton again before City get punished mate.

If owners need be 'fit and proper' to take control of a club then that's what needs to apply here as well as the stripping of titles, and demotion to several leagues below (see Glasgow Rangers for the latter). Over on the Man United side they've suggested that Big Jim and the Glazers are put in as new owners.

Thanks, Taurus01. Been seeing the same thing as well so I thought there was some truth to it esp. with the City "Bomba" having just dropped.

I think the Premier League can only affect punishment for Premier League purposes. They can't make the EFL relegate City to league 2 and they can't inflict a points deduction in the EFL - they can recommend a punishment but it would be up to the EFL.
The Premier League could give City a 60 point deduction for this season - effectively relegating them and then ban them from PL competitions for say 5 years.
That would be effective punishment IMO.

Maybe we can finally get Semenyo if Citeh get relegated.

Never mind all this stuff that City did, when are we getting a DM and an RB?
26 Sep 2026 00:59:13
I don't know, WDW.
But City shop at Harrod's & we shop at Poundland.
That was a big thing on here but the bailiffs are not at our door ?.

Like we've saying for a good while now, football isn't a sport anymore. There was an article in one of the broadsheets that sticks in my mind from a couple of months (maybe a couple more) after Mansour bought City and it focussing on the economic motivation in buying the club.
At the time there were certain markets that, allegedly, didn't deal with the UAE and the purchase allowed introduction to the potential markets through the guise of sport.
My own opinion - and I'm absolutely, certainly not able to provide any proof whatsoever, not being an international finance, expert, lawyer - is that City were just a means to an end that had nothing to do with football.
I really liked City in the 60's and 70's - I liked Joe Mercer and Colin Bell was one of my favourite players and I liked the (real) City fans who stuck with the club when they went down into the old fashioned Division 3. They were lads who liked their footy and supported their team through thick and thin. I still liked City them and feel really sorry for them.
The fact of the matter is that the club won the three Premierships, the FA Cup and League Cups because they cheated. They couldn't have got to where they were and achieved what they did without breaking the rules means that they didn't actually win anything. They bought the Cups by using illegal means within the context of the rules of the game.
As I say I feel sorry for the genuine supporters - they have been duped by people solely seeking benefit for their business and who regard football as a means to a business end.
As for the owners, those complicit and the 'nouveau fans', they should hang their heads in shame and Clear off back to wherever they came from.
