Ed025
I see you are already a big admirer of JJ
I think he has been our best signing so far, although I see Barcola getting better with time, smooth, great at reading the game, great tackler.
What you think? Already better than Branthwaite and Tarkowski ?.

{Ed025's Note - i think JJ a very good player Hughesy, was very disappointed with the cheating against Brentford though i must admit, he has a long way to go to be better than Jarrad and Tarks though mate even though Jarrads injury record is a big worry for me, im reserving judgement on Barcola..

Flo, I thought he was going to mention David Unsworth for a second there.

One's injury prone and the other one's a plodder. my grandma is faster than 'Tarks' and she died in the mid-1970's.

Cheating, Ed? How does being essentially headbutted constitute cheating? I understand that what happened to Jacquet is very different to a headbutt assault that might occur outside a pub, but Brentford probably thought "let's rile this naive kid up and see his reaction", only to find their silly player fell victim to their own trick.

Violent conduct, or even behaviour threatening/simulating it, is a red card offence, period.

{Ed025's Note - come on Lowe he hardly touched him mate, they were both at it but only one of them rolled on the floor and stayed down as if they had been hit by a truck...so yes he cheated, he is hardly a kid either he is a 6ft 2in bundle of muscle so dont start with all that pony, you might think thats fine for a player to get another professional sent off for something so trivial...but i dont..

He hardly touched him hasn't been a defence since the 90's. One hit the other with his head, and there's a history of it not being punished if JJ doesn't go down. It sucks that it's the right thing to do in that situation, but it's on the refs and the rules for making it that way.

{Ed025's Note - so you admit that he cheated then Alvy?..

JJ got a 2 hand shove to the chest and then squared up with a smile on his face as if to say what are you doing. The Brentford player then tried a sneaky side swipe with his head whilst keeping his eyes locked on the ref in an attempt to feign a non violent action.

He knew what he was doing and fully deserved the red.
They started the housery and then took it too far and got punished for it. That's the way I see it anyway.

The big issue is that players need to feign injury or being hurt in order for the refs to actually make a decision and follow the rules, honesty is not rewarded whatsoever. Look at Haaland last season, blatantly butted by Gabriel but didn't make anything of it and red does nothing, similar with penalty decisions where a player is clearly fouled and impeded but gets a shot away and refs happy to play on however if they throw themselves on the ground for minimal contact it's a pen! In my mind we need to punish diving, simulation and play acting while also awarding pens and sending offs etc when they are merited even if the player doesn't make a meal of it.

Big Bob Latchford wouldn't have fell over eh Ed?
Ever remember big Dunc when he played for Ragers? Now that was a head but! If memory serves he got sent to jail for it?

{Ed025's Note - Big bob would have headbutted JJ into the stands if he started all that lark Chrisy, and if he was confronted by Big Dunc he would have shat his kecks mate.. :)
