Believe it or not I'm looking forward to the game sunday. Brighton are playing unbelievable football at the minute but I always think we perform better against sides that try and play against us rather than sit in a low block for 90 mins.

You would assume Isak, Wirtz and Barcola are all due to start after being rested mid week (for the most part) does Rio, Gakpo or Munoz (if he's fit) start on the other side though? I personally would love to see Rio start to try and build off his midweek performance!

If we come out the blocks & start like we did on Tuesday then I think we'll get turned over.
Got to start with intensity and put them under pressure. Yes they're in great form but they're also probably due for a sub par performance & they've an away trip tonight which might affect them.

Like you I'd like to see Rio start. His confidence will be sky high.

I think both Barcola and Munoz were absent from training today.

3 wins in 6 days, 12 goals scored. Why would you not be looking forward to the game?

{Ed666's Note - because we’re playing Brighton and they are quite good and we are are in a transitional period of our development

Barcola was doing individual sessions basically giving some more time to recover.

It should be a fun game. They are on a great run and scoring for fun but there's no reason why we should be worried.

They play tonight in away in Europe while we have have a clear 4 days between games. Couldn't ask for more really.

People are looking forward to our games again, something must be going right.

Spot on Ed, they're absolutely flying at the moment, playing some great football. I do think this will be a very good measure for us in many ways.

Ron, that's the biggest difference this season, despite the hit and miss performances I do look forward to watching us play.

Is it weird to always look forward to watching your team play?

23 Oct 2026 07:53:02
We're 7 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss so far and we're still some way from what this team can be capable of.

Fingers crossed for an 8th win on Sunday.

Brighton basically played a full B squad last night so will be even more rested than our boys though.

Ed, Brighton have alway been tough for us even under Klopp. because they have the type of system to take advantage of our flaws and again, this goes back to Klopp's days in charge.

Im looking forward to the game as well but as someone said, we have to start fast, not get drawn out of position too much in the press and stay compact because they play the exact way Villareal play and we all know what can happen if we get pulled out of position as much as Villa real did.

{Ed666's Note - like you said mate they’ve historically always given us a tough time even pre Klopp. I’m old enough to remember them knocking us out of the FA Cup in the late 70’s or early 80’s that game still haunts me. I’m interested to see how Gross plays I know Ed’s 001 is a big fan and I think we need to keep him quiet because he is an extremely capable player creatively as well as a goal scorer.

Brighton knocked us out of the FA Cup twice in the 80s. The first time was at home & it was Paisley's last season so it meant he would never win the FA Cup as manager.
The game was played on a Sunday which was unusual at the time, as well. It was the first game I'd missed at Anfield for ages & my lift vowed that I could never miss another home game ?.

I still remember the result coming through. I was stunned. Ex Liverpool player Jimmy Case scored for them too.
They made the final that year but it was all about Sir Bob not getting his hands on the FA Cup- and a double- as manager, for me ?.
