Little update re Guehi and Isak.
Parish has got his wish, dragged the deal out so Guehi would be available today for Palace. This will be done before the deadline.
Isak. NUFC, know if they sign another striker it will weaken their stance in regard to the make up of the bid as they wouldn't want to be stuck with him. Wissa is expected to sign for them, as has been reported for ages now. Total expected to be around £130m rather than the £150m. This could go to the wire now and I wouldn't expect anything concrete until later on but I still expect this to be complete.

Longer it goes the more I don’t think it will happen! Sorry about the negative but! Newcastle be happy not to sell and think palace be the same.
31 Aug 2025 11:30:15
Regarding Guehi.
Isn't that a bit risky this late in the window? If he was to get an injury that will not benefit Palace or Liverpool.
31 Aug 2025 11:31:33
As I said at the start of this week we won’t sign either of them!
31 Aug 2025 11:41:29
Looks like you are right Diogo I’d says 50/ 50 on Guehi and less than 10% on Isak.
31 Aug 2025 12:00:51
I get it. As a fan myself, I'm nervous about the whole situation and the way its dragged on. It should of been done sooner but it was never entirely in our hands.
31 Aug 2025 12:05:02
You think he cares if he gets injured
They would be happy just to keep him.
31 Aug 2025 12:07:44
Ooh, so much negativity… Have we not in many ways had a great transfer window?
I believe the two will get done, but goodness me how negative.
31 Aug 2025 12:23:27
Hes no more likely to get injured than if he wasnt being sold. If its the medical people are worried about, would I be right in saying barring a major injury why would it effect it. The medical is to check actual medical condition like heart etc. Not if someone's got a sore big toe that will heal.

Kew17 - Our transfer window has been good rather than great. Wirtz and Ekitike are superb, but I'm unconvinced by Frimpong and Kerkez for now. With the addition of Isak, however, we become a completely different proposition. Ekitike, Salah, Wirtz and Gakpo is amazing - those four plus Isak is absolutely terrifying, and teams simply aren't equipped to handle so much sheer attacking quality.
Without him and Guehi, however, we are short and won't have enough to compete on all fronts again.

You say they would be happy to keep him and leave next summer for nothing. Why not tell Liverpool outright, unless they already have. If they have told Liverpool no chance I am sure we would look to Jan for a cut price deal or summer 2026 for nothing providing he is injury free. Either way Palace lose out.

You are right. We are weak at the back with Kerkez and Frimpong.
Kerkez can improve as he is only 21 but Frimpong is unconvincing.
Etikete is better than most expected and will be a good addition.
Wirtz has too much quality to fail. But with him our style of play will need to change which will take time.
For me, fell we will trade off the controlled style on last year for more attacking approach.
Will be great going forward but too much gap to exploit at the back. Shape is going for a toss.
Would have liked a solid midfielder to be added. who can control the tempo from middle.

Parish' wish was for him to play today, a couple days ago it was his wish to have a replacement first, before that it was his wish to keep the player till next season. It seems Parish just keeps moving the goalposts.
I'll expect his next wish will be for a January transfer.

Fingers crossed both get done then fields mate.
31 Aug 2025 13:02:10
I like others still fully believe the Isak deal will get done just a who blinks first thing going on. Worryingly Chelski are now looking for another striker and wouldn't put it past them to stir the pot if they get a sniff we ain't going in with what they want.

No one knows if the solfp will be in the team tonight? So just wait and see.
31 Aug 2025 13:22:58
SamiKewell - I would have also liked a midfielder. I have long thought that we lacked aggression and power in the middle of the pitch.
Buying players of the class of Isak and Wirtz, however, means you can be tactically flexible with the rest of your team knowing that you have such quality at the sharp end that opponents simply have to prepare for, so Isak is worth more than any midfielder in that regard.
Conversely, a team like Arsenal essentially have to stick to their defensive, U-shaped structure and duel-win/ set-piece tactics, because they will lose a lot of games otherwise - they have nothing like the quality up top that Liverpool do, even when Saka is fit.

I never said he is more likely to be injured because we are looking to purchase him. My point being if plays later he may suffer a major injury which keeps him out of contention for a long period of time. Not a sore toe.
31 Aug 2025 14:16:41
LoweFC you expect all players to be amazing for us after 2 games? If you move jobs how long before you are fully productive? People need to learn patience and so with all the negativity it's exausting. Trust slot Edwards and co and get behind the team and players with positive vibes.

Jesus Christ it was a perfect window weeks a go and if the other 2 come in then I will be an unreal window but still people winge ( still isak ) won’t sign.
31 Aug 2025 17:25:54
Any updates @thefields?
31 Aug 2025 18:46:37
SOLFP starts and captains Palace against Villa.
Red, its going to be a crazy 24hrs mate ?.
31 Aug 2025 18:48:11
I don't see how such a massive deal money wise could be done so quickly. And then will there be time to do a medical. If you're paying 130m+ for a player who has a bit of an injury history surely the medical can't be fast tracked!
31 Aug 2025 19:35:29
Thanks for the reply mate it is indeed probably saving it for tomorrow for the drama of deadline day, do you see gomez leaving thought he played brilliant when he come on today also special mention for dom what a free kick and been amazing the last two games.
