Carra mentioned recently that Slot is unlikely to be the manager next season. Ed's or those in the know have any idea who we may go after if true?

Wouldn’t be surprised if Xabi Alonso was initially first choice, and the rumours of player power and Perez being unhappy that Alonso wants the players to actually train and not party in Ibiza after games, we don’t go back in for him should he come available.

Alonso has made a great start, and winning is all that matters to Real so I can't see him leaving anytime soon. In fact I think he'll be there long term.
Iraloa all the way, unless Enrique is up for a change.

At the moment, I still hope that Arne can figure things out over the next 10 games, plus a couple of strategic signings in January that help fix our build up and physicality issues.
If things go belly up for Xabi Alonso, you would hope we are in the mix for him. No doubt Bayern would be there too.
Enrique is another that would be brilliant. He's won everything and has a great personality. But I don't see him getting bored of PSG at the moment. Unlikely.
I really admire Iraola's progress but boy would that be a leap! You wonder whether he needs one more job at a side that is likely to face low blocks more often. We need to see how he fares with that.

Carra didn't say that Slot is unlikely to be our manager next year. He said that he is of the opinion that he won't be. That's a huge difference tbh. He didn't say it as a matter of fact but rather what he thinks would happen. The only fact that he mentioned was that the higher ups would not be shy to dismiss him if/ when necessary and that there are a few top managers who would be willing to join us.
Personally, the only two I'd want is either Iraola or Enrique.

You’re only ever 3 games away from the sack at Real Madrid so anything could happen.
But Alonso turned us down so he would not be on my shortlist.
If you don’t want to come to us then you won’t be asked again.

Alonso likes 3 at the back, a tactical set-up that has a ceiling beyond which it’s not effective. I really think a club going all retro and playing 2 strikers in a 4-4-2 could monster things. A throwback not just to 90s Prem teams, but also the great Italian teams of the Sacchi era.
And you know what? We have the squad for that. Dom on the right, Flo on the left as a drifting 10.

Crazy to me when a current champion manager is being talked about as if he's not top notch. I personally hope Arne's here longterm but if he's not god help the next guy if he loses a few on the trot because unless its Pep he won't have the fact that he's actually WON the league we play in to fall back on.
