Rumours about players.
Liverpool amongst others talking to Romas Turkish RB celik who's 28 and out of contract next summer. Valued under 10m.

Wilfed Singo from Galatasary. RB/ CB 25 has a 55m buyout. Done well but that's in Turkey.

Reports from Turkey in October was that Galatasary want Salah and met his reps who sounded positive.

Konate not wanted by Madrid who I believe have turned to Upamecano. Bayern then may turn to Konate.

Liverpool given green light for Hungarian Alex Toth for €15m from Ferenvacos. Only 20 seen as the next Dom.

Host of prem clubs including us have been scouting Leipzigs Ouedraogo. Highly rated young midfielder.

Guehi we hopefully can get in Jan. Just pay what palace want. Semenyo also looks close.

So it seems we are still looking for a midfielder or two plus a RB and CB.

I find it staggering that Real Madrid even considered him in the first place.

Anyone who has watched him over a sustained period will know he is erratic with his decision making, unpredictable in general, positionally inept, physically weak, can't head a ball properly, has a loose first touch, passes without looking up and runs down blind alleys when he carries it forward.

He's just very fast, decent in the tackle and tall enough to get first contact on lofted balls (even though he has no idea where they're going) . He's just a 6ft4 Wan Bissaka. Nobody will change my mind on that. I've watched him over 100 times now and he's impressed on less than 5 occasions. Quite possibly the worst CB to play regularly for the club since Sakho.

Alex Toth is a very good player, he's a long way from the finished article though and is another press-resistant technical midfielder who isn't as good off the ball as he is on it. He has the frame and physical attributes to reach Dom's level in time though.

I take it your not keen MK ??.

How many right backs does a club actually need? The area’s were genuinely short of quality are centre midfield and central defence.

Reusch, I said this 3 years ago and people berated me for it. I feel so sorry for Van Dijk at times. People always talk about Ferdinand and Vidic, or Terry and Carvalho. Who was Van Dijks stalwart partner? People will only ever mention Van Dijk in conversations about great Prem defenders/ defences, never his partner. Because he's never had a good and reliable one.

Virgil is now no longer elite in my opinion, but he spent all his prime years for us carrying Lovren, Gomez or Konate. He only got a decent partner for the 10-15 games a season Matip was fit. People are finally opening their eyes to just how bad Konate is now that Virgil is no longer good enough to carry him, but he's always been this bad. It was just masked by Virgil.

I'm tired of tip toeing around the muppets who claimed he is better than Guehi in the summer just because he's taller. Konate's a bad player and we should've replaced him years ago.

I think we need a right back too VV. Bradley is injury prone and although committed he's also quite erratic on the pitch. He's not a great defender imo. Frimpong will eventually play as a winger I believe.

JG will More than likely depart too. If there's nobody of note available from the academy then really a RB would be required. It's obviously not a priority currently over other gaps. Anyway just my opinion.

Konate on his day is an elite level center back, I don't care if I get pelters for saying that, and I realise that those days seem like a distant memory, but at times last season he was matching or even eclipsing Virgil with the standard of his performances. I don't know what has happened with him, I don't know what is going through his head, but I'm not going to jump on the wagon of folks berating him for having his head in Madrid, I don't think any of us are well placed to know that.

Also, MK, Gomez at his height of his powers looked like a world beater for years to come until he was hit with an awful injury. Let's not act like he was an average player being carried by Virgil. Matip wasn't half bad on his day and Lovren, while he was never a top tier center back, was more than serviceable for the most part, though he had a similar problem to Konate, one mistake and he would begin to fall apart for the rest of the game.

I also think you're wrong for saying that Virgil is no longer elite, but we'll leave that disagreement for another day.

Wasn’t gerrard susceptible to back injuries early on classed as growing pain? Don’t call Bradley injury prone he’s a young kid growing in an elite football world obviously he’s still growing. Once he becomes stronger he will walk into most teams.

I'd give Ramsay a game at RB. Slot alluded to Endo and Chiesa not impressing enough in training to warrant a start. Maybe Ramsay is in the same boat. But given his performance against Palace I'd put the round peg in the round hole and give him a crack at West Ham this weekend.

Good players from last season and new signings haven't turned bad over the summer. Everything I read is tactics and Slot. I've never seen a manager so close to the sack abyss change absolutely nothing believing it's all of a sudden going to look like 1988 Netherlands.

He's either the sole smartest guy in the room or looking to get sacked (implication being he can't see it coming) . I know what my money is on.

28 Nov 2025 17:20:30
That’s what a great player such a Virgil does. He makes his partner look better than they actually are. Gomez wouldn’t have looked a like a “world beater” (he wasn’t btw) without Virgil by his side.
I agree with MK that the only decent CB partner Virgil has had was Matip. Virgil needs help and he ain’t getting much at the minute.

{Ed025's Note - there is no doubting VVD,s quality Irish, but even he has let standards slip over the past couple of months mate and he need a kick up the arse as well imo..

28 Nov 2025 17:35:42
Slot said Endo and Gomez weren't impressive in training so he kept playing Konate who has been absolutely dreadful in every game apart from maybe one this season. Great management that.

28 Nov 2025 18:16:15
Do appreciate the comments on VVD following our current form, also that Konate and others have been carried by him. I think ane hope VVD has more to offer though as he has so much quality.

28 Nov 2025 18:18:58
Totally agree PB. People quickly forget how good Ibou can be and why he starts for France and Liverpool. Not many CBs could of coped covering the spaces he did when we played an aggressive high line under Klopp, and not to mention covering for TAA. He's been awful this season and does seem to get in his own head.

VVD is 100% still elite. Last season I thought he was peaking again. This season everyone simply looks terrible for some reason. But VVD starts for every club in the world right now. Maybe not Arsenal due to the established partnership but as an individual he's still better than both IMO.

28 Nov 2025 22:36:05
Imagine being a defender having to play behind our rubbish show of a midfield. Its would make Alan Hansen look like Kvarme.

28 Nov 2025 23:45:19
Was he Norwegian?

29 Nov 2025 06:42:09
Konate is in no way an elite level CB

He makes one sliding tackle in a match - up goes the “Ibou” shout- and then that’s what people remember

His positioning is awful, as is his reading of the game.
