Alonso confirmed to Chelsea.
That's one ongoing rumour that can yet again be put to bed.
I'm actually dreading our club starting the season with Slot in charge, hopefully they aren't blind and deaf at FSG.

Remember what happened with Semenyo and Guehi?

History repeating itself again????

17 May 2026 10:28:55
I'm absolutely livid. The state of the club right now is shocking, and they are collectively setting us back years, if not decades. I won't give a s*** if only Slot goes. We're at a point where Edwards and Hughes also need to go to even make it acceptable. I'm at whatever stage there is after having given up. F****** amateur hour.

17 May 2026 10:34:47
Alonso won't work within the DOF model and wanted a say on transfers. Iraola is totally OK with that model, but what surprises me is that, knowing Edwards and Hughes will be leaving in a year, why rule out a potential candidate for this reason?
Jurgen was happy to work within the structure, but clearly had plenty of influence on who was bought.

It seems Edwards wants total control whilst his summer splurge is looking average at best.

17 May 2026 10:47:32
Put us back decades, Dan-ish, Jesus, lads aren't half dramatic on here, ha.

17 May 2026 10:52:32
Well, the 3 clowns have most certainly set us back 1 decade.

17 May 2026 10:52:43
If that happens, and they keep slop, I, like many others, won't be watching, and I certainly won't pay to watch. If I do relent, it will be the way I watch 3pm kick offs: no Sky Sports, TNT, or LFC TV, and I certainly won't try to get tickets when I'm in the area.

17 May 2026 10:54:07
Why do people keep giving credit to our owners, because they "saved us" nearly 20 years ago, we're forever in their debt. They come across as clueless and they've been relatively lucky thanks to Klopp.

17 May 2026 11:07:33
Because they deserve credit where it is due, Frode.

17 May 2026 11:15:48
First Madrid and now Chelsea, two clubs who are absolute bin fires. At this stage, you've got to start questioning Alonso's judgement!

17 May 2026 11:30:03
Alonso is the manager, not the head coach. That's a start to fixing the bin fire.

17 May 2026 11:32:13
Like I've said countless times Rum, these 2 clowns just want someone who is a Yes man

By reading Ed1 reply earlier, it seems as though they are trying hard to tell FSG that Slot must stay because they twisting the stats to make him look good.

This is a huge red flag and could have devastating lasting effects on the club

We're probably in a deeper crisis than we ever imagined

17 May 2026 11:35:12
If what you say is true, Fsw, then Chelsea would be even less of a viable destination than us. They don't simply have one sporting director, they have multiple, and nobody really knows what responsibilities each of them has, but Maresca walked because he wanted to sign players that were actually good for the team rather than the likes of Garnacho and Gittens.

17 May 2026 11:35:19
And Shankley's Ghost, they deserve criticism where it's due.

17 May 2026 11:35:38
Do you guys really think Chelsea won't still have a DOF model? Are Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley leaving their roles all of a sudden now Xabi is in? Will Boehly and Egbali now sit back and watch without interfering?

Nope.

17 May 2026 11:49:31
We're doing a great impersonation of a binfire ourselves, GG, so his judgement is at least consistent if nothing else.

17 May 2026 11:54:18
PatrikBurgher, check Ben Jacobs update. Alonso's wish re control over transfers has been granted, to a certain extent.

17 May 2026 13:49:08
Couldn't agree more, Frode, I never fell for the whole "FSG saved us" narrative. Klopp saved us. FSG did right by the club, not because they're passionate fans or lovers of the game, because they're an investment group and they make money by realising the increased value of their assets.

Their main goal is to someday sell the club for profit.

You can commend them for being responsible owners and at the same time understand what they truly are. Interestingly, under their ownership we've got it wrong with 3 out of 4 managers, so who really saved Liverpool?
