Hi all,
Manchester City have made a late approach in the window for Gakpo. I imagine he still is Spurs bound once we get our incomings sorted.

Any word on us bringing in a dm Victor? Cheers.

If we sell a fit Gakpo and replace him with an injured Minteh, with the season already underway, then I will have lost all confidence in the club's recruitment team.
24 Aug 2026 16:39:54
Sell/swap him for Marmoush and Gonzalez.
24 Aug 2026 16:40:44
I think we'd be replacing a fit Gakpo with a fit Barcola, NK.
24 Aug 2026 16:43:26
Ain't no way City are in for Gakpo that's absolute bunkum.
24 Aug 2026 16:44:03
Keep him, he was one of the few threats going forward yesterday.
24 Aug 2026 17:05:46
We need him until January anyway as a striker option... Would be foolish to get Barcola and sell Gakpo, given on the right we only have Munoz. Rio on the right was toothless, and I felt sorry for the boy yesterday.
Minteh is out until November as well, so why not get him in January? Isak has hardly shown anything yet, and I do not see him capable of playing 2 matches a week, week in week out. So we definitely need Gakpo as a striker option imo.

Selling Gakpo is a moronic move but I'd settle on a swap deal for Marmoush with £30m coming our way if the club was adamant on him leaving.
24 Aug 2026 17:11:39
If City are interested, then I'd ask for Marmoush in return since City are looking to sell & he can cover the front line.
24 Aug 2026 17:16:58
A DM won't solve the issues. Caicedo hasn't solved Chelsea's.
24 Aug 2026 17:22:12
Why would we sell to S***y????
Must be click bait. Would they sell to us? Of course not.
They should be in 1st division now after all the years of rule breaking (allegedly). Makes you wonder how much money has greased hands to smooth over all of the mess they got into.

Newcastle just signed Nico Gonzales. Would've liked him in Liverpool as he plays a variety of midfield functions like box-to-box, regista and defensive midfielder.
But we may not need to sign a CDM as I've read that Jacquet started his career as a midfielder, hence the comfortable ball control.
Maybe, we ought to try him in front of Vvd and Araujo? Either as a lone CDM or as a pivot partner to Szobo.
With regards to Gakpo, as long as City drives his value up in a bidding war with Spurs, I'm happy to let him go. Maybe, 95m-110m based on current market sample.

If Bayern were genuinely in for Rio for, say, £50m, would you let him go, or Wirtz for, say, £95m, instead of Cody. Given we need to raise funds to buy two attackers, and we seem to have a limited number of saleable assets, we could shift one of them instead to make it happen.
I'd clear out Chiesa on a free, Elliott, Endo, Tzimi for small fees, just to get rid. Promote youth to replace those 4 and use the wage headroom to bring in an additional centremid like Sadiki.
I'd sell Macca or Grav to help fund it.
Finally, go to Brentford and put a big offer on the table for the right back c£60-70m. I'm sure he'd prefer CL football even though he's just signed a new contract. If that's an absolute non starter, then go for a loan of Trent with an option to buy back.
In Jan, if Kerkez doesn't shape up, look to replace him.
That would be the end of the window we need, shelve the Brighton lad until Jan, if at all.

Caceido has been great for Chelsea. They've been woeful as a club and they've bought horribly, but he's been very good.
24 Aug 2026 21:56:35
Marmoush would not be an option, as they oversold Savinho to undersell Marmoush, so they didn't have to pay the sell on fee.

Barcola Rio Ekitike Isak Munoz Minteh looks good, but I'd keep Gakpo until Ekitike is back.
