Reckon we will get Mbaye and Barcola.. but we’re waiting for PSG to drop their valuation and by leaving it late and discussing other targets they're likely to take a lower offer the later it gets.

PSG want EUR70m for Mbaye and we value him at EUR50m. We are right to pull out of it. You can't tell Leverkusen EUR45m then up it because we are in for him.
26 Aug 2026 19:57:08
That's why I think we will get him, because they don't need him, and the closer to the window closing it gets, the more likely they are to accept £50m and we get both Barcola and Mbaye.
I feel we're flirting with other players to test PSG's resolve.
{Ed0666's Note - All will be forgiven if this is the case

Wishful thinking ed ??
{Ed0666's Note - Gonna be a long, brutal and painful 5 days mate

Richard Hughes driving the clown car more like.
26 Aug 2026 18:31:08
It's not even Cirque du Soleil levels of clowning, it's your bog standard £39.99 per hour rent a clown.
Hughes entering the room by falling through the door, proceeding to tumble across the floor, knocking chairs over, then star jumping up off the floor and honking a brass horn.
Honk!! Honk!! Honk!! Let's get these negotiations started!!
{Ed0666's Note - That visual made my day. You are certainly articulate Snoots

We look desperate and clubs smell blood.
What a let down. Assuming deals were getting done when in reality Hughes is like a lost puppy.
We're short on the wings and we've the weakest midfield in the top 6. An injury as well in the middle and you're wondering how Hughes had a job this summer.

We don't have the weakest midfield in the top six imo.
{Ed0666's Note - it might not be the weakest on paper but they are doing there best to show they can’t play together
26 Aug 2026 19:12:52
The paper would beat us in a 50/50!
{Ed0666's Note - brilliant ?
26 Aug 2026 20:01:43
I agree, FM, but put Wharton and a Camara/Kone type in there and it's a title winning midfield. Along with our title winning forward line of Barcola Ekiteke Mbyae. That's a serious team.
{Ed0666's Note - I honestly would take any of those midfielders right now Camara, Wharton & Kone in that order.
27 Aug 2026 06:50:05
Sadiki perhaps?
26 Aug 2026 14:55:17
We'll go for an injured Sarr from Palace but not go for Wharton from Palace. ?

Jack Grealish on the horizon? LFC and Sunderland vying for a season-long loan deal?
If you can't beat them, join them?
26 Aug 2026 14:44:55
Without having a go at Hughes (don’t think he needs any help there) I thought we had a scouting network? Does he take no notice to them? Really can’t wait for him to leave and hopefully the next person has a bit of a plan instead of looking under cushions for wingers.

Genuine question, but would people prefer we cover the RW position now, or go with what we have and target it next season?
For me, any signing we make now will be either a panic buy, short-term solution or both. Would it not be better to re-evaluate in January, or, worst case next summer? When we have more time and can see if any target emerges or develops enough to be an option. Hughes has made a right balls up of this window, and his negligence, incompetence and inexperience has led us to this awkward position.
Either way, this is a really poor position to be in. Ironically, Hughes' best window for us was when he sat on his hands, did nothing, and we managed to win the Premier League title in that season, with Klopp's existing team, and Slot's tactical changes.
Be interested to hear people's opinion, an unpopular question but one that has been on my mind.

We don't have anything now to go with. We are playing a 17 year old left-winger there because that is the best of a very bad bunch. Happy to sign a stop-gap if that is the only option, but we cannot let the window close without having a single right-winger at the club.
Mbaye is available and cheaper than what we are being quoted for mid-table Prem players. It's a no brainer for me, but I don't think it will happen because Hughes will want to save face and not go back to PSG for him. I'd go for Rayan next summer too.

Not sure where he's based, but hoping our Ed77 (Seamus O'Deeps) is safe after this flood in Nepal.
{Ed077's Note - I live in the suburbs (outskirts) of the capital city, Kathmandu.
Nice of you to check in Taurus, I'm safe and fine ?

Hi all - does anyone have any insight into what Richard Hughes is actually doing or even any theories as to how his day-to-day job is working at the moment?
Al Hilal looking at Martinelli / Watkins and rumours Hughes is somehow double jobbing and working on these deals in addition to his role at LFC.
What’s he doing at Liverpool if reports are true around Barcola negotiations being above his head?
Thanks!

He does absolutely nothing. He let down Iraola, he has made our squad worse than before, and has not bought anyone. Pretty sure we will miss Barcola too. He is incompetent.
26 Aug 2026 12:45:20
I'm not defending him (as he is doing a horrendous job) but technically he has signed Jacquet, Araujo and Munoz.
26 Aug 2026 14:21:33
The Jacquet deal was arranged in January, Araujo was a loan, and Munoz was a release clause. The transfer window has been open almost 3 months.
