Heard a rumour that we're interested in PSV RB Jordan Teze. Never seen him play, just what I was told. Have a great day all.

I’m shocked that people are writing a season off so casually and say that’s just the way it is. Our owners have hung us out to dry and the fact we’re scouring the market loan deals is testament to their ineptitude. I don’t doubt Klopp has been at fault for some tactics, but I refuse to criticise him until he has the full backing in the market.

Have you seen how much we've spent in the last 24 months? I'd hardly say that's not being backed. Just because we can't spend like other teams. Jesus.

2.) 31 Jan 2023 10:31:52
We're waiting for the right player so we can build our team, by the time we get the right player we will need to start looking at replacements for some of our other players who will be passing their peak. When that happens we can wait for the right player again and continue the cycle. How do you not understand this utterly flawless logic?

3.) 31 Jan 2023 10:33:36
What's the indication that Klopp doesn't get backed in the transfer market? I don't ever recall the owners stepping in to block a move or to pull the plug on one. All indications seem to point that if Klopp wants a player, we'll do our best to get him.

4.) 31 Jan 2023 10:53:17
Obviously everyone has different opinions. I don't write the season off because we've run out of games. There's enough points to play for and secure a top 4 spot. And of course, CL brings us the possibility of another fun run.

I write it off because we have not reacted where needed to give us a better chance. This his not a little blip now. We've been performing like a bottom half team since August and Klopp's attempts to spark them during the many breaks (Queen passing, world cup, 1 whole week between games since the start of the year) so far have failed.

The fact that our best midfield 3 is injury prone Naby, injury prone Thiago and an 18-year old is pretty damning of the squad management.

PS I still believe in Klopp and I still hope for a top 4 finish before everyone jumps on me.

5.) 31 Jan 2023 10:58:10
Brighton have done great things with 'cheap' signings because of their excellent scouting. I wonder if we should be improving our own scouting and recruitment, rather than just blaming FSG.

6.) 31 Jan 2023 10:59:46
Don’t think it’s casually writing the season off more just a realisation that this year is going to be a shocker so no point expecting us to turn the corner every week and end up in the top 4.

Personally just hope we get a new owner by the summer and have some serious funds to spend. Don’t buy all this waiting for the right CM to become available nonsense. If we’d have spend 20mil and anyone who could run Jan 1st we may have beat Chelsea Brighton and Brentford and been near enough top 4. Would have made that money back with champs league earnings.

7.) 31 Jan 2023 11:00:56
Have you seen how much we sold in the last 24 months bakedbean? Pathetic excuse that . Need to spend to stay at the top. We've depleted our squad to raise funds so much now expecting a 17/ 18 year old kids to come in and do the job. It's absolutely criminal what's gone on.

8.) 31 Jan 2023 11:06:32
@Thom43 - do you actually think we should be looking to spend millions on the wrong players? If you do then you might need help.

9.) 31 Jan 2023 11:11:47
Brighton is a bit different, they have the opportunity to give untried lads a chance to perform because the demands for success on the manager are lower. Not knocking them at all, but horses for courses.

10.) 31 Jan 2023 11:22:18
Klopp had £40m to spend this window and he chose Gakpo. Definitely not my choice but he’s the manager and we have to trust that he knows what he is doing.

11.) 31 Jan 2023 11:29:57
We’re 21 off top in January id say it’s long wrote off. Not bringing in midfielders suggests the club have wrote it off too. Klopp told us all how we had the best player in the world in almost every position don’t be gullible enough to fall for them trying to pass off top 4 as some kind of achievement if we somehow ended up there. Arsenal were like that under Wenger for a decade.

12.) 31 Jan 2023 11:32:34
We have not depleted our squad. The players we sold or released have been replaced in one way or another. In fact, I would argue that our squad is bloated with not good enough players. For example, in midfield, we had Fab, Hendo, Milner, Thiago, Ox, Jones, and Keita. 7 players for 3 positions is hard to see as depleted.

13.) 31 Jan 2023 11:38:52
thom43, it's not worth it mate. It's like recruitment to react to an acute issue is the deepest of shame and we shouldn't dare suggest it let alone expect an top club to do it. Shame on you!

14.) 31 Jan 2023 12:28:33
IggyPop_12 yeah, keep telling yourself that the club or owners have not backed Klopp in a bid to absorb him of his part of the blame even after he accepted the blame of him not signing a midfielder this season cos clearly, that will become true at some point which IMO, is never.

We have spent about 300M on players since we won the title and NO player walked in the door that Klopp did not want. None whatsoever so if he did not strengthen say in the midfield then, that is the path he chose and has NOTHING to do with the owners not backing him or are they to blame for him not signing a midfielder for example, whereas the funds were provided to do so?

Yeah like I said, keep blaming others for Klopp's mistakes in a bid to protect him from the criticism he himself admits that he deserves cos clearly, that will make things better.

15.) 31 Jan 2023 12:36:47
FlyPelicanFly good point! I did have another really bizarre idea, I was thinking if we brought one new lad in now it would give him the rest of the season to find his feet so he can hit the ground running straight away next season.

It'll never catch on I fear, too outrageous.

16.) 31 Jan 2023 13:49:20
@thom, isn't that exactly what we did with Mane's replacement (i. e Diaz) last January?

17.) 31 Jan 2023 15:00:21
Yes and that Diaz signing helped us through a mid-season sticky patch and got us firing again. Was hoping we'd do the same again.

18.) 31 Jan 2023 15:46:44
Gakpo?

At this stage and with how rubbish our owners are. Keep him, he’s the best midfielder by some margin.

Neves an excellent option in midfield maybe if we had some legs. He’s a slow midfielder and we need some pace and agility. Moreover a goal scoring mid would be better. Awful option if you ask me.

Lamborini, “too attack minded”. You do realise our goals return from our midfielders are beyond a joke. It’s a position we’ve sorely missed for years.

I am concerned about our club we’re sitting 9th and it will continue if we remain stagnant in the transfer market. The number of people on this site who just settle and get on with it is astounding. I want the best for our club, not wait another 30 years for a title.

Sell him. Great servant, but inconsistent. Spends more time off the pitch than he does on it. We need to move on from Sentimental FC.

And yet Lampard keeps getting jobs? Think it’s unfair to discount him completely after one poor stint.

Our owners are parasites unfortunately and we’ll be stuck with secondary options.

Nunez made the position his own? What planet are you on, he’s played okay but hardly world beating just yet.

I guess Faithworks like mid table mediocrity as that’s where we’re heading with no investment.

Shows how rubbish we’ve been if Conte is lambasting a poor Spurs that are currently higher than us.
