Mbappe didn't get a kick of the ball for 80 minutes until someone won a penalty for him to score and then he woke up. He was hardly the only French player you could say that about. Scored a cracking second goal, but for a bloke who scored a hat trick in a World Cup final, I was disappointed.

A true great would've done more.

Mbappe looks a decent prospect, but seriously he didn't kick a ball for 80 mins and only got back into it with a penalty, how the commentators were gushing over him and Messi was ridiculous i thought personally Macallister and De maria were the two best players.

I was annoyed argentina won as I can’t think of a Les Less likeable and undeserving group of players in the tournament. Everybody seems to think messi is still some 14 year old innocent child.

Martinez is an embarrassment and to be honest the referee should have had him in the shootout for his behaviour, wouldn’t mind but he’s not even that good a keeper.

FIFA got what they wanted though as did Qatar, sportswashing is sadly working.

Mbappe scored a great goal no doubt. But in the 1/ 4, semi and up to the 80th min he did little of note, much like the French team. Double him up and take away the inside and he's largely neutered. The one who made the diff for France yest was Coman. Dembele was woeful the last three games.

The only thing that was made up over time was this trumped up, media-driven rivalry btw CR7 and Messi as if nobody else was allowed to outperform them. Something players like Modric, VVD, Lewandowski and to a lesser extent Suarez and Salah actually did BUT were overlooked to keep this media-driven rivalry going. A rivalry btw two players that wouldn't even make my top 5 of the world's greatest players. Sad.

{Ed001's Note - and Iniesta. Barca fell apart when he left because he was the key to their whole system. Massively underrated, as he was as good as Messi in many seasons and should not be retiring without at least one balloon door.}

Exactly, Ed01. This whole Messi-Ronaldo stuff is such a sham that's it's not even worth the time. So essentially, they would have you believe that Barcelona was bang average until Messi was fully integrated in the first team whereas absolute legends like Ronaldinho, Xavi, Eto'o and yes, Iniesta were already there doing massive bits and winning big trophies before hand. As if these guys never existed before he showed up.

Same goes for Ronaldo, a guy called the GOAT whereas he is not even the greatest player ever to come out from Portugal. They would also have you believe that absolute monsters like the late Eusebio, Paolo Futre and my absolute best Rui Costa never existed before CR7 showed up. These guys can do one, seriously.
