Good point West, just used Saka cos he was more or less the same age as Doak is now when he started appearing for Arsenal. Worth remembering he got one goal in 26 league appearances that year for people knocking doaks end product.

@Jude, Saka is 21 born on Sept 5th 2001. Doak is 17, born on 11th Nov 2005. There is over 4 years difference in their age.

It’s more than likely that the kid will get ‘his head up’ as he develops and especially if people get off his back. He’s a kid who is learning what it takes to make the next step up. He is years from being the finished product. It would be great if fans, super, casual or whatever else category, stop being so judgemental and let him and the club get on with working on the areas that may need improving. If it doesn’t work out and he’s not a world beater by the next transfer window, we can give Uncle Todd’s travelling circus a call. By 2030, Ben will have reached the ripe old age of 24.

Can anybody who is slating his end product tell me whether they've watched him for more than a handful of cameo appearances? Genuinely.

I've only seen his few first team minutes and that is no time to judge a 17/ 18 year old. Anybody can look good in a yard of space, getting that yard in the first place is the hard bit.

Does enjoy the potential in this player. Decision making will improve with experience and working with Klopp. Mane and Salah's numbers weren't that good before they joined. To compare him to anyone is absolutely pointless. Let's see in 2 years and we could have a worldy on our hands.

Who knows how it will go for him. I do remember a certain Harry Kane tipped for absolutely nothing before 21. He is someone who worked really hard to get where he is.

Equally we all thought Harry Wilson was the new Gareth Bale (before he retired to pursue a golf career during his football career), and that didn't turn out as we thought.

There's plenty of time left for Doak. The boy hasn't even turned 18 yet! We can point out flaws in his game currently without judging him too harshly. He is a bright young talent with bags of talent, and I hope he is able to fulfill that potential with us.

Doak scored 6 goals in 8 youth league games last season. He has end or product and will develop it further. Yet some clowns on here expect him to come on for a few minutes and make endless scores and assists at just 17 years of age.

Fans, certainly those who pay their money, have the right to assess their own players.
What’s worse? Hyping him as Saka or downing him as Traore? Or saying he needs an end product or to get his head up?

@Ron, of course people judge. It’s just the comparisons that are used to form judgements are ridiculous. Comparing a 17 year old who has, literally, about half an hours experience of plating in the first team, against someone like Salah is just plain stupid.

@Quo - agree with your point about new talent being branded ‘the next’ until they become ‘themselves’, so to speak.

Just as a footnote, it was interesting to see the reaction of one of the Members of the Spanish media compliment Doak, saying that. The 17 year old was the best player on the Scottish U-21 team. The lad continues to get good press (albeit this forum being the exception to the rule) .
