I do wonder if we might go for a Barella type transfer out if nowhere ?.

Andrewo

{Ed002's Note - Nicolo Barella (CM) Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have had approaches turned away. Don't be surprised of a significant offer from Newcastle or PSG or a further approach from Real Madrid - but Inter don't wish to sell and would no doubt demand something towards €100M or so. Liverpool or Spurs may show an interest but Inter have not been approached by either although they have sent scouts. The player does not wish to leave and is expected to sign a new contract. Long term interest of Chelsea went with the player wanting to stay in Italy - although they could yet try to persuade him otherwise and have spoken with Ale Beltrami who acts as an intermediary. Beltrami has also poken with Manchester City. Wildcard may be an approach form Arsenal or Manchester United who have instructed a third party to enquire on their behalf. Newcastle seem a less likely solution.}

Quick question for the Ed’s if they have time.
I have been looking through some of the alternatives for DM and see Forfana of Monaco has been mentioned on here as a viable alternative (if we we’re interested I’m not sure)
What type of player is he and would he fit the bill for us?

Andrewo

{Ed002's Note - would be a great choice but no interest from Liverpool.

1.) 14 Aug 2023 19:36:53
Ignacio and Fofana are obvious choices. I wanted Lavia but if he is choosing Chelsea, move on now.

We should be pushing hard for a CB in parallel to this DM hunt. It's just as pressing.

Most important transfer window in years and here we are. My patience is truly gone in this window.

And I'm not having Sangare over Florentino, Dacoure or Fofana. Yunus Musah went for so cheap is an excellent player. I know I'm jumping the gun without knowing what's going to happen in the next few week but Sangare links have me worried. I see him levels below other options. I'm hoping if we do go for him that he is far better than his match highlights show. Has anyone want he'd him live? Looks like a really poor tackler to me.

2.) 14 Aug 2023 20:04:54
Forfana probably wants to go to Chelsea though.

3.) 14 Aug 2023 20:09:29
Yeah I’ve only seen Sangare a few times but from what I’ve seen I would rather just play bajcetic. Or Thiago and Mac allister together.
I am sick of hearing about Caicedo and Lavia turning us down if they are getting offered 8/ 9 year contracts who can blame them that’s nearly all their career covered. Nobody is turning that down unless you are a true fan of another club and just want to play for them.

4.) 14 Aug 2023 20:34:34
Grino- exactly, who in their right mind would turn down those terms and Chelsea whether you like it or not are a big club now and a big draw. We may have dragged our heels but getting these fees agreed earlier would have only brought forward the end game of Chelsea out bidding us, we still have 2 weeks left of the window and no disrespect to Bournemouth, playing them at home on Saturday doesn’t scream the sort of game we desperately need to bring a DM in for.

5.) 14 Aug 2023 20:40:19
Scotty pippin regretted such a deal ?.

6.) 14 Aug 2023 21:07:19
Pereira, Luis or Kessie would do.

7.) 14 Aug 2023 21:21:18
Kessie is absolutely horrendous. Thankfully he’s going to Saudi to save us from ourselves.

11 Aug 2023 13:32:46
Hi Ed’s

It seems the Caicedo deal isn’t going to happen.
Quick question and I’m no expert on the finance side, but would Luis from Benfica offer something similar in terms of the profile of player.

Andrewo

{Ed002's Note - Florentino (DM) Scouts continue to watch Benfica but they have no interest in selling Florentino Luis unless his buy out clause is met or nearly matched. Seen by Barcelona as a potential Busquets replacement, but, too expensive although they would look to include a player or two. Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool spoke with his agent last summer. Manchester City want to upgrade Kalvin Phillips and Florentino fits the bill. For Liverpool he would realistically be a Fabinho replacement but they are looking at others so can realistically be discounted for now. PSG were interested but have moved for Ugarte so they can be discounted. Napoli, Arsenal and Milan offer less likely options although with Tonali now departing Milan we may see an increase of interest in him but at nothing close to his buy out clause and they will want to include players. Wildcard would be Chelsea but they have a much preferred option. His sale would also be dependent on buying a replacement and the one they have in mind is edging toward a move elsewhere.}

1.) 11 Aug 2023 13:54:43
For Liverpool he would be a Fabinho replacement. well that spot opened up, let's get him in there!

TBH I'm not sure why Caceido is so stick on Chelsea, they we're an even bigger basket case than us last season and I can see Pochetino lasting till Xmas unless they win pretty much every match - the owner looks a bit like a very rich nutcase.

Good luck to him I say!

2.) 11 Aug 2023 14:21:27
Never get excited before the Lean.

3.) 11 Aug 2023 14:25:32
His buy out is around 100 million I think ed2 said.

{Ed002's Note - €120m.}

4.) 11 Aug 2023 14:32:41
My mates and I have a feeling that Caicedo’s agent wants a bigger commission he can get from Chelsea and that’s why their are second thoughts.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with that.}

5.) 11 Aug 2023 15:14:43
London life/ the fact his mother lives in London?

Hi Ed’s

Hope your well and a big thanks for putting up with us all and the info you pass on ?

I’m interested in your thoughts on Quansah, he look a unit for his age physically, but do you think that he has the right attributes to become a good premier league defender?

A big leap I know but could he turn in to a Colwell for Liverpool?

Thanks

Andy O.

Andrewo

{Ed001's Note - he is not left-footed, so no. He is very good for his age but still has a lot to learn, but he could never cover full-back like Colwill can. He is a centre-back with an excellent passing range on him.}

1.) 28 Aug 2023 10:19:27
Actually that reminds me. Since Quansah came off the bench, does that imply that Phillips is now 6th choice? Or was he injured?

Cos if he's dropped behind Quansah, why are we continuing to keep him?

2.) 28 Aug 2023 11:11:38
I’m surprised Phillips has never handed in a transfer request. Perhaps he’s actually happy at Liverpool.

Let’s be honest he’s probably on the most money in the squad for what he’s paid to minutes played.

3.) 28 Aug 2023 11:23:17
Konate and VVD, the starters, are not available for the next game against Aston Villa. So you're left with Matip and Gomez as the next pairing. But to protect yourself against potential injuries during a week of training, or during the actual game, you've got to keep the next pair ready and available (Quansah and Phillips) .

4.) 28 Aug 2023 11:35:10
That is at this point the only explanation that makes a lick of sense JK.

5.) 28 Aug 2023 12:38:40
JK23 - Phillips is on a salary he will 100% never earn again in his football career. He’s not giving up that for a cold, soggy away day at Colchester.

6.) 28 Aug 2023 14:12:07
LoweLFC, you could be right. Keep in mind that Phillips nearly move to the States to study at a Uni till he got his chance in the 20/ 21 season. Or at least, that's what I heard at the time.

13 Aug 2023 10:05:09
Can’t we get a Time Machine and get back a prime Alonso ?.

Andrewo

1.) 13 Aug 2023 10:26:21
I'd prefer a prime Gareth Barry.

2.) 13 Aug 2023 10:28:32
I would use it to go get mbappe rather. or even better get rush or kenny.

3.) 13 Aug 2023 10:40:44
Rigsby, I beg you let’s not do that.

4.) 13 Aug 2023 11:04:17
I’d take Gareth Barry now to be honest ?.

5.) 13 Aug 2023 11:05:32
Rigsby must be Rafa, its the only reasonable assumption from that post. He was the only person in world football who thought that was a good move.

6.) 13 Aug 2023 10:54:01
Ok, Oli. We'll get a past it Gareth Barry then.

7.) 13 Aug 2023 11:13:05
Rumbled, WYred.
But we'll continue to work haaaard with Stevie and Carra, for sure.

8.) 13 Aug 2023 11:25:18
What a player he was ????.

9.) 13 Aug 2023 14:28:27
Bajcetic is his successor.

10.) 13 Aug 2023 14:50:02
Absolutely Ron. Bajcetic is going to be a star. ?.

11.) 13 Aug 2023 15:21:04
Rigsby, definitely not him.

12.) 13 Aug 2023 16:23:03
Definitely not, Oli.
I thought Barry was alright; he was no Alonso but he was decent enough.
I think we'll sign a defensive midfielder but I've no idea who it will be. I thought it would be Lavia before all this Caceido business but things have changed.
Norbert will get someone in.

13 Aug 2023 08:39:50
I would love us to get Florentino Luis from Benfica, he looks class.
Great in the press, excellent ball recovery and quick to make the right choice of pass.
I can’t see anybody else who’s attainable at this level.
However I’m sure others will have their preferences and know much more than me.

Andrewo

1.) 13 Aug 2023 08:50:17
We must stop assuming that players (or players agents) automatically want to do a deal with us.

It’s foolish in todays market to assume transfers don’t happen because the owners are potless or the scouts are ignorant or the manager is clueless.

We have to ‘sell the vision’ for the club to the player and the players representatives.

2.) 13 Aug 2023 09:12:08
Isn’t it mainly down to wages Ron?

3.) 13 Aug 2023 09:12:45
You can sell the vision all you like, but when another club's owner steps in, completely undermines his own sporting director, ratchets up the original offer by almost 50% and tops it off with an 8 / 9 years contract, I suspect there's nothing you can do lol.

4.) 13 Aug 2023 09:14:44
Can’t disagree enough Ron. I don’t think Liverpool should have to sell anything in my opinion.
We are one of the BIGGEST teams in world football, with a wage bill and history to match.
If you don’t want to play for Liverpool then you are clearly deluded, have your eyes set on Real Madrid or you don’t want to play 70% of your football in cold and wet weather ?.

5.) 13 Aug 2023 09:59:43
There is a reason the worlds biggest names don’t typically come to Liverpool, and perhaps even why’s r don’t sign them. Liverpool is where you make your name. It’s naive to assume that the worlds players think of Liverpool the way we do as fans. That way of thinking feels a bit 1990s.

6.) 13 Aug 2023 10:30:36
We should tell these potential signings that the ale is flat and overpriced in that London, that they can't make a proper pan of Scouse there and that you can't leave your back door open anymore because Reg and Ron are dead.

7.) 13 Aug 2023 10:35:36
The reason is obviously money Faithworks.

8.) 13 Aug 2023 14:24:21
Andrewo - if we can pay £111 million for Caicedo, then we could trigger Florentino's release clause of 120 mio Euros. It probably won't happen though.

Just be interested to see who does come in now by the end of the window.
