Just a idea based on current lack of strikers in the market how about putting Harvey Elliot up front plus points highest goal per min except for Salah does well in big games PSG and cup final intelgent quick passer would thrive with Wirtz HG gives his all loves club on low wages . IMO a fair shout as a stop gap until the market either produces a new talent or is more realistic . His injuries have been impact related he is not injury prone per say. Negatives physicality height anyone see this or am I so far off base?

Harvey Elliot at centre forward?

He’s not good enough to get a game at centre midfield or at 10, why would he be better playing out of position as a striker?

{Ed077's Note - Sell. Take the money and run

I wouldn’t be my idea of a solution, far from it.

17 Jun 2025 12:12:14
Not seeing it myself mate. Probably the worst position for him as he lacks pace, strength and thrives better in space rather than the hustle and bustle of playing between two burly CBs.

17 Jun 2025 12:30:34
Alisson would be better up front. In fact he might be better than Nunez!

17 Jun 2025 12:33:53
Or we can just buy striker stop all this square pegs round hole crap.

17 Jun 2025 12:39:36
I’d echo what everyone has said. Harvey is unfortunately not good enough in his preferred position so playing him out of position can’t be a good idea.

I think we should sell him this summer while he still has a decent value. He’d do ok in Spain I think but the Premier league is too quick and the players too strong for him.

Elliot as a centre forward is a non-starter for me Bauldy. You mention his goals per min but you need to remember that is massively inflated because 1) it is a small sample size cause he's barely played, and 2) he's coming off the bench against tired legs. Look at his numbers in games he has started and player the full 90 and they're not even close.

Then physically he doesn't cut it as a premier league forward. Lacks the pace, lacks the physicality, it just wouldn't work.

Perhaps you are saying rather than play him centre forward, play him INSTEAD of a centre forward, like a false 9 but even deeper, in the dual 10 formation we played against city when we had Szobo and Jones as the dual 10s with no striker. This in theory could work, and could suit Elliot - but if we were to play this formation it would 100% be Wirtz on the left and Dom on the right. And then even when SLot has played this formation, he has played Jones there, because he doesn't trust Elliot's physicality. So even if we did play this formation, Elliot wouldn't start, and would be behind Jones in the pecking order off the bench. I just can't see him having a future with any variation of our system.

Not for me.

17 Jun 2025 12:45:22
He's painfully slow and not that clinical. Why would we do that?

17 Jun 2025 13:11:11
Bauldy66, Elliott in CF? Talk about shoe-horning a player in a position that is more than alien to him. Might as well sell him and be done with it.

17 Jun 2025 13:29:59
Ellot is a great little player . but he seriously lacks pace, also a bit weak but can play though. he'd be better suited to a team abroad were the game is slower . think he'd excel say at Dortmund.

I'm no data analyst, but I get the impression people aren't too happy at the prospect of Elliott playing centre forward. I may be jumping to conclusions.

17 Jun 2025 14:43:56
I agree with Ed077 aka Seamus re Harvey unfortunately he's just not a permanent starter for Liverpool.

{Ed077's Note - he just hasn't been able to get a consistent run out on the field, and thus his career has started to stagnate. Injuries have hampered his development. He needs to play regularly now. Playing U21 for England isn't enough for him, shouldn't be

17 Jun 2025 14:50:22
I’d rather have Fred Elliott at centre forward.

17 Jun 2025 14:56:45
Good shout, Kenny. I say, I say, a good shout.

17 Jun 2025 15:07:51
And you have a very attractive sausage, if I may say, Kenny.

Thank you. You’re a saucisson (saucy son) of a gun!
