Have no expectations from players next season. The situation is unprecedented and i hope fans can understand team lost one its member.
I am sure all players will try their best to honor Diogo but i could be a very tough season for some to emotionally come to terms with.

Completely agree, the situation is unprecedented, and it will leave an indelible mark on many of those who knew Diogo. Whatever happens next season happens, this tragic incident has brought into sharp focus the fragility of life and how, in the grand scheme of things, football isn’t the be all and end all.

I'm sure they will want to win for their fallen team mate. I do hope, however, that the customary stupidity of pundits and opposition fans doesn't surface if we start to lose a few games. I'm already seeing a lot of 'people die every day, get over it' nonsense on the internet, I would hope that performance-obsessed and emotionally tonedeaf people don't use grief as a stick to beat the team with down the line.

I agree. I’m struggling as of yet to think forward on the reds it’s probably take a few more days until I get there. YNWA.

I agree with the comments here, but especially PatrickBurgher's. While I applaud the global tribute paid to Diogo and Andre, some comments online have been truly shocking! I'm not even talking about social media or Twitter; I'm talking comments section of major news outlets. Humans have completely lost it, I tell you!

On the contrary, i think Jota's passing will spur them on. If there is any drop off at all, i expect it to be down to the changes made to the squad if anything (how extensive that will be remains to be seen), and the players ability to gel with their new team mates.

Completely agreed with the comments above. As long as the players compete with passion, as they always do, I don't care where we finish next season. This is going to very emotional all the way through and will affect each player differently.

If Diaz were to be sold to whoever would that mean we would then go back k in for gordon?

They have counsellors and psychologists to help them deal with everything else, including things like this. Remember when Alisson's dad died?

I think the advantage they have is they will be together, a lot.
The culture and environment they have developed at the club over the last years will help ensure everyone is supported through this.
It will be strange for the new guys too.

We can either turn pain into purpose. Or we can turn our pain into into self pity. The choice is ours.

Except it isn’t Oli, the tragic circumstance is thrust upon Diogo’s family, friends, teammates, fans - and there isn’t a script to follow. Some will be galvanized by his memory, some will get buried by it, some will find strength, others will find their strength stripped away - nobody should be condemned by their reaction to grief, or have any expectations placed on how they “should” respond. If it becomes too much for some that isn’t self pity, it’s being human, and I would not condemn anyone for that.

Seano, don't get me wrong. I did not condemn anyone for anything so not sure where you got that from. Now, I agree people have the right to deal with the grief in the way they see fit. What I am always afraid of is to allow the grief to take you over to the point that it becomes a hinderance, allow it to overtake us, or dictate how you can live moving forward. That is also not healthy as that can lead to self pity and once that takes a real foot hold on the individual, it can get really ugly.
My father passed away 20 years ago and my mom was distraught for years and spent all that time second-guessing herself to the point that it led to severe bouts of depression, strokes and psychological issues to the point that she almost joined my dad. Now, she is well and doing great. I have witnessed what I speak of.
At the end of the day, we all have a choice to make in almost any situation in life. We can choose what path we want to take and how to get there. For some it will be less hard and for others, it sill be a lot harder cos none of this is easy. Once again, I condemned literally nobody in my post.

Condemned wasn’t the right word Oli, so let me rephrase: I do not think we can simplify the emotion and grief to either ‘use it to give us strength’ or ‘turn into self pity’. It isn’t that simple, and it isn’t fair to term it like that. A lot of people are going to struggle, badly, in the weeks, months, and years following this - I understand you have had personal experiences with grief, so too have I (losing my mother to brain cancer 3 years ago) - all I am saying is don’t be too harsh on anyone. If sone do feel pain and self pity and despair so be it - grief is an emotion unlike no other, and it is a heavy burden to carry, some are better than others at shouldering it.
Again I meant no disrespect Oli, and wasn’t trying to be accusatory, but rather suggesting we not measure a person based on their response to grief.
