Wirtz has taken the number 7 shirt.
{Ed078's Note - quite some shoes to fill. Callahan, Kenny, Suarez and Macca. Also Smicer, Robbie Keane and Kewell, so some smaller shoes too.

Well he’ll definitely do better than the most overrated player, or maybe underperforming if I give him some benefit of doubt, that I have seen at Liverpool in my lifetime! I can’t remember being so excited about a signing and then so disappointed with the outcome as Harry Kewell!
{Ed078's Note - there's no way you can compare this potential with Kewell. I've met Harry a couple of times here in Aus and enjoyed ribbing him about his piss poor injury record with us. He took it well. Wirtz is on another planet.

Now now Ed Smicer? Not having that and also Suarez should only be mentioned alongside Kenny when it pointing out how he threw him under the bus. Talent wise Suarez was far superior to Kenny but as a fan if I was asked who I'm glad we signed mist between the 2 then Vlad all day long.
{Ed078's Note - we're not talking about the quality of the men, but the outrageous talent they had. Sorry, the grub Suarez wins hands down compared to Vlad. My bracketing of Suarez with Kenny was to do with the quality of the player wearing the shirt. The quality of the men is worlds apart. Kenny is a gentleman. A true ambassador. I've met him numerous times (first time snogging his babysitter in his front room, wow did he put me in my place in 5 seconds) and every time he has impressed me with his humbleness and presence.

I know I will be biased but King Kenny, as a player, is the best I have ever seen in the flesh and the best ever in a Liverpool shirt.
So many great memories of this guy and his abilities which, I believe were so underrated (albeit still rated) by the wider football world. The fact that he is a beacon for all things good about humanity just makes him ab even greater icon.
Of those memories the one that still lingers for me is one (of many) where he influenced an outcome without touching the ball! The decoy run in the 1986 cup final that, taking players away, created the avenue for Rushies crucial goal I could watch over and over (indeed, call me a saddo, I do)!
A true gent and a true legend you are right Ed!
Personally, I don’t put Suarez close definitely as a character but not even a player (to which he did of course have special talent) . I wanted him gone in all fairness pretty early on I wanted Kenny to carry on into his 40s :) .
P. s. I trust me made you marry the babysitter?!

Snogging Kenny’s babysitter? You must be very old!
{Ed001's Note - my aunt often babysat for the Dalglishs. I am beginning to wonder if my uncle knew about this!}

I'm pretty sure Callahan wore 11 not 7. A couple you've missed off the list are Kevin Keegan and Billy Liddell (or did he wear the 8?) .
Steve Heighway should've been a 7 or 11 but wore 9.
As to who was best Dalglish or Suarez, the Uruguayan loses out as he missed too many games through suspension - 49 games in less than 5 years!
{Ed001's Note - didn't Liddell wear lots of numbers as he played all 10 outfield positions during his time with us.}

MetroRed - Same here. Such a shame. maybe he was not bothered after joining.

Suarez would be chomping at the bit to join this lfc line up today.

Let's be real, Suarez was an absolute mess of a person and dragged our club in the mud but as a player he was absolutely ridiculous, I don't even know if I've ever seen a player that unplayable at his peak, he just looked like he could nutmeg whoever he wanted and score whenever he wanted to, and he could run and press non-stop when he felt like it, had peerless vision to pick out a pass or execute a sliderule through ball too. Mo at his peak approached that level of sheer video game-like ability, at his best weaving through challenges Mo was pretty much at Messi levels (obviously Mo is still one of the 5 best players in the world but in a different way than before), but Suarez was at that level for a good few years with us and for Barca, and he was dependably excellent too, rather than some sort of mercurial genius who showed up one game and disappeared for the next two or three.

Thanks Ed078 but I didn’t compare, or I don’t think I did.
HK was one of those you mentioned in your #7 worn shirt brigade and it reminded me of my huge disappointment in that signing which I went on to express in my post.
Again, Wirtz or any other player in my lifetime aside this player 100% tops my list of my most disappointing based on expectation v outcome! It wasn’t even the injuries.

Snogging babysitters? You Eds have "colorful" lives, to say the least. ?.

Ooops sorry I said Saurez was a better player than Kenny which obviously was a typo. I ment better to Vlad but Vlad had his place after the Istanbul goal and his pen . Soz Ed but I'm glad u snogged Kennys babysitter and I agree. The man is more than a player and a manager. I didn't mean to argue.
{Ed078's Note - Sharon was her name. Same age as me but tought me a thing or two.
