Ed 001
Really enjoy your articles.
Would be very interested to read your report on the slagging match/ hatred between Owen and Shearer and I know long ago said but Shearer was close to signing for Liverpool?
Is that true was it a KK thing that he was coming or the lure of playing for us. Would be a amazing read.
{Ed001's Note - so do you want one on Shearer? Or just the argument between him and Owen specifically? They were really good mates before it you know, it was Shearer who persuaded Owen to sign for Newcastle. And yes Shearer was close to signing for Liverpool, he was just a kid at Southampton then. IIRC we pulled out of the deal because we already had Ruddock and he was becoming a problem, him and Shearer were good mates from the academy and were a lot of trouble together. So we gave up the idea.}

Razor was a below average player, a drunk, a bully and an all-round arse, one of the more unlikeable players in our history. Clough, Dicks and Ruddock, what a rubbish transfer window that was.

I knew we showed interest when he was at Southampton but I never knew we pulled out due to him being trouble. Who would've thought that about someone who seems quite dull. Another thing to dislike Ruddock for. I remember shortly before he signed Ruddocks agent was rumoured to have sent out a come and get me plea to the whole of the Premier league as there was so little interest. Only a rumour like but if true that should've set alarms ringing and served as a warning to steer clear.

Getting too old for your hip lingo ed1 ?.

Now you have mentioned both Ed
I’m going to ask for a Shearer profile and an article on the argument. Why, who started for what reason, when it did it all start. I’ll have the lot please sir ha.
{Ed001's Note - ok mate, put it on the list for you.}

I've read that Shearer could have joined us when Bobby Robson was manager, too. Robson dropped Shearer and he wasn't happy about it.
Shearer and Owen didn't see eye to eye when the former was caretaker manager at Newcastle and questioned the latter's commitment to the relegation battle.

Is this Ruddock guy the same one that you mentioned before as the most problematic player to wear Liverpool shirt? Even worse than Diouf?

Would u say ed1 that ruddocks problems where acholism mainly or just a bad egg?
{Ed001's Note - just a prick. The alcohol was a symptom, not the cause.}

I had the displeasure of seeing Neil Ruddock, at a fund raising night, a couple of years back. After he did his not funny stand up bit, he did a Q&A where he just insulted the person who was asking. He was paid loads for the gig, for just being a complete and utter a*se.

Ruddock was a total liability and a clown. Totally useless. Both he and Dicks are certainly 2 of the worst signings LFC ever made during my lifetime of support. Terrible players, horrendous attitude and a stain on our club. Bad days indeed. Thank God we are where we are today.

Was Dicks a trouble causer to? I remember him being told to train with the kids and Roy Evans certainly kicked him out of the team fast enough. I just thought he was not good enough.

I read the same Rigsby that Shearer was close to coming to us
I wonder if it was the King Kenny era (2nd stint) when that was a possibility?

Bigbaz, all I'd say is that his surname is most appropriate.
