With the injury to James Maddison today (and if it is as bad as first feared) could this open the door for Harvey Elliott to get his move back to London and also be playing for a team in the Champions League?

03 Aug 2025 18:21:14
I think it will accelerate things. Hopefully the injury isn't a bad one for his sake but doesn't sound good.

I like Harvey and if it happens, I hope it is a loan and not a sale personally.

03 Aug 2025 19:02:11
I reckon they’ll want to sell Harvey and Darwin stone. Pulls some money back doesn’t it.

Spurs needed a top rotational player with Maddison hence their interest in Gibbs White. Hopefully now they go Elliot. We wanted £40-£50m.

Realistically, as much as we all love Harvey, he will never be good enough to start for a team challenging for the Premier League. He just doesn’t have the physicality. Very good on the ball but that’s no good if you have no pace and no strength to hold people off.

He needs to find his level and unfortunately that is below our level. I hope he has a great career, he deserves it but it won’t be with us.

I see him at a West Ham or Spurs and having the odd flirt with the national team but not at a team that is challenging for major honours.

Hes just turned 22 Robboslostlegs, there's plenty of time for him to build his strength. He's not even a proper man yet.

03 Aug 2025 20:25:44
I'm 58 and still not a proper man.

03 Aug 2025 20:26:30
Really LFC8 of course I get the club would like to make a profit no matter what but we’ve already brought in 100+ million from sales If Darwin does go that’s potentially putting our sales at 150 million I don’t think the club would then mind Elliot going on loan for game time.

03 Aug 2025 20:36:33
Doubtless lots of Chelsea fans thought the same about Mo Salah.
Harvey has time to develop.

03 Aug 2025 20:55:21
his problem is his speed. you even have it or you don't. it can't be taught.!

03 Aug 2025 21:06:44
But if Elliot stays and gets minimal game time like he did last season he won't improve. Players need to play to improve so it's pointless him stating if he's not going to get regular games.

03 Aug 2025 21:55:13
Elliot would suit spurs if they play him in the no.10, slot obviously doesn’t rate him so better to get money in.

03 Aug 2025 22:02:14
Elliot is a great player . can pick the pass out, shoot etc but he is not the quickest player, usually you can improve things with time but not with speed. pity but think he's best going somewhere where he'll be the main man.

03 Aug 2025 22:46:36
Ron, I remember seeing Salah at Basel and he stood out. His pace was electric and he had something about him.

Elliott simply doesn’t have it. He’s a talented player but he has no pace, no strength and is an absolute liability defensively.

You could see against Milan you had Elliott and Wirtz both the same age playing as two tens and Wirtz was on a different planet to Elliott.

I love Harvey he’s such a great kid but he’s just not ever going to be good enough.

03 Aug 2025 23:43:23
Harvey had enough pace and strength in Paris.

It’s not all about pace, a lot of it is the system you’re playing in.
I think he probably needs to go to get game time, but there’s definitely a player there, he’s just not being utilised optimally.
