That result was coming we haven’t played well all season. Need to use it like the Forest game last season and go on a run now. Need to be much more solid we’re very weak and easy to create against get that right first.

Does Slot know what he is doing. Szob starts in midfield, then gets moved to right back instead of bringing on a right back. Then brings on a right back and put Szob back in midfield. Also what does it take for Slot to realise that Chiesa either starts or comes on sooner.

Elliot,

Dont't really know the definition of 'Troll' but Elliot your it.

No LFC supporter could write that and believe it.

27 Sep 2025 23:56:50
Dude. That guy won us the league last season. Come on!

28 Sep 2025 00:10:01
I think he knows what he is doing mate. chill.

"Does Slot know what he is doing"

No. Clearly a Premier League winning manager must be clueless.

28 Sep 2025 02:31:26
There’s a fair few new trolls tonight eh? There’s also a lot of frustration from those who think (perhaps believe) that we have a right to win every time we play.

We were poor and got what we deserved. I think a potential issue might be that Slot can’t get to the starting line up he wants to play yet, with Isak not being fully fit and Wirtz not up to speed yet. The team has an unsettled look about it at the moment but it’ll come good and, all that said, we are still top of the league. Not quite time to press the panic button, just yet.

I wouldn't say we haven't played well, we have played about as well as we can given the circumstances.

Have certain players been a little bit below par, like mo, Ibou (though he was very good against arsenal and was decent in the second half yesterday when slot adjusted things) and Conor? Yes, but it's not like we haven't been creating chances or mostly controlling games, we hadn't been giving up tons of chances before the first half last night, some of the goals we let in were very unlucky.

I think we're all a bit frustrated with how slowly we start games with the press baiting against teams that aren't trying to press our center backs and full backs in our own half, I think something probably needs to be done about that, but we won the league last year doing that and 5 games prior to this, so what do I know.

As the game wore on it was obvious that we know how to play quicker and more direct when we need to, I wonder if slot will decide to switch gears earlier in the game because to me we threw the first half away last night, Ibou was getting destroyed with no protection and when we had the ball we looked so risk averse.

Kerkez looks lost when we play like this, I'm pretty sure he wasn't bought to play triangles around the corner flag with 4 palace defenders crowding our players out and a packed box to deal with if they manage to play through the crowd somehow.

Thankfully we play the hopeless maresca and his traveling band of 8 year contracts next, hopefully we get a good win at gala and that gives us confidence to run Chelsea ragged at the weekend. I don't think we played very badly last night so I'm not as concerned as folks in the press seem to be. Hugo will be back too and raring to go, chin up lads.

28 Sep 2025 06:57:06
Ok, it's hyperbolic, but the selection of both Isak and wirtz to start asked for us to be over run in mid and hit on the counter. I think it's reasonable to question the setup given our performance. Champions only stay champions if they constantly question how to be better, and despite the amazing start before today, there's currently a lot of ways we could improve.

28 Sep 2025 07:39:00
Slot is trying hard to fit in Florian Wirtz who is Carley unbalancing the midfield.

{Ed001's Note - Wirtz isn't the one causing that, it is Macca, who is absolutely abysmal this season. He is playing like he has been out for 2 years and struggling to knock the rust off. Even at his best he struggles to get around the pitch, but right now he has all the mobility of Stephen Hawking with a flat battery. It is very worrying.}

28 Sep 2025 08:28:00
You have a point there Ed01. We should replace him with Adam Wharton. Only the you would be able to play Wirtz as a CAM.

{Ed001's Note - Wharton showed yesterday that he is not an upgrade on Macca, he is very similar - lacks mobility and is poor defensively. Szobo needs to play there, he was excellent there and freed up Gravy to get goals. Then Macca can feed in gradually to get back to form - but further up as a rotation option with Wirtz.}

"Stephen Hawking with a flat battery "quote of the century Tris ?.

28 Sep 2025 09:04:47
If we brought in Wharton we would have two players whose fitness needs to be managed and ideally can't play more than 70 mins a game if we're going to play them for a 38 game season- Isak being the other. I don't think I've ever seen Wharton play 90 minutes.

I'm not sure what's going on with Macca either, he always looks like he's behind the tempo of play these days, though clearly he is not lacking in effort. I don't know what we should do while he plays himself back to his best, do you really feel like subbing him in as the number 10 would be a good solution, ed?

Szoboszlai has been our best player this season so far alongside Grav, he was probably the only Liverpool player besides Virgil and Ali who I would say actually had a decent game last night, and he had to switch position twice. He had at least one brilliant delivery on a corner kick and that floated ball in to spot Flo ghosting into the 6 yard box was superb as well, besides at least two occasions where he sprinted back to prevent Mateta getting another one on one opportunity in the second half.

{Ed001's Note - he is not a defensive midfielder and he lacks the mobility to play in our system in the deeper role - that is the only place I can see for him.}

28 Sep 2025 09:19:34
Disagree on playing Szobo in the deeper role. He is the engine and is not positionally sound. The fact is we have far too many names but not the right balance. Slot being such a shrewed tactician got this wrong in the summer on how to fit in Wirtz in the midfield. -.

{Ed001's Note - Szobo was excellent sitting in when he played there, not sure what you have watched his positioning was exceptional.}

28 Sep 2025 09:23:02
If u look at macs 3 seasons with us ed1 he has started all 3 poorly. Gradually gets better and towards end of season probably our best player. He seems v slow to get started and whatever niggly injuries he's had recently hasn't helped i don't think, he's miles off the pace at min.

{Ed001's Note - it is an issue that he only plays well for a short period, imo.}

28 Sep 2025 10:01:04
Just to reply to Wiltshire red, who said I am not a true Liverpool supporter. I would like to say, that I have supported Liverpool longer than you have lived. My first game at Anfield was in 1964,a cup game against what was then Swansea Town.

28 Sep 2025 13:00:40
Does that make you more or less, than a supporter who travels 150 miles to watch like i do. You probably see a lot more games than me

Read what i said. It was about what you had written, not how old or you or me are.

By the way, i have been watching since 1972. Not to shabby is it.

28 Sep 2025 13:14:22
Ed01, MAcca was poor (not the only one) BUT in my opinion, Slot's selection and tactics for that game didn't work. We knew what Palace was going to do yet he played Wirtz on the left which is not his position cos he lacks the engine to track back esp. with Sarr and Munoz going the other way. It handicapped us offensively on that side.

For me, Szobo should be in midfield permanently and have Frimpong and Bradley duke it out at RB. Sick of this "Szobo should play at RB" crap just cos he did a good job when both RB's were out. It is not a long term solution esp. if he is truly needed in midfield as a midfielder, which is what he is and a damn good one at that.

{Ed001's Note - the problem is that neither Bradley nor Frimpong have been any good at rightback.}

28 Sep 2025 14:52:01
On Bradley Ed, seems like it is more than just rust? He looked like a real superstar when he broke out and last season I honestly felt more secure with him defending. But this season something is not right, he seemed uncomfortable or unsure of bombing ahead? Like he is in 2 minds all the time.

{Ed001's Note - he just doesn't seem to have the game intelligence yet to know when and where to run. It may come in time, but the coaches will need to work on it with him.}

Sadly, Ed. Sadly.
