Hi all

I am glad you can all see the Semenyo rumour now has major legs as echoed by other posters on here. Initially when I posted it a while back there were some blind disputes from a few which, like Carra says, it ain’t always easy getting info and sticking your neck on the line to share on here.

Anyways, here’s some more info,

Semenyo was always a high level target. Nailed on essentially now and I am 90% sure he will be a Liverpool player in the first week of January.

Looking a bit further forward, here are some names I am confident will don red at some point either January, or summer.

Joel Ordonez
Adam Wharton
Marc Guehi
And the MAYBE one that the club would adore is Zaire Emery of PSG.

Cheers all.

It would make sense and for me it would be very good business. Ignoring Emery for now (as a big maybe), 3 of the 4 are homegrown and address the areas where we have the least depth. I don't know much about Ordonez but the other 3 are quality, homegrown, Prem proven players.

After replacing Quansah with Leoni it will be another 2 new CBs who I assume will replace Gomez and possibly Konate, a quality homegrown player to help Gravenberch out in the midfield and a new homegrown player to add a real quality alternative to Salah on the right but who can also cover the centre or left if needed.

I think that there is space in the squad (I'm talking depth-wise rather than worrying about registration spots) for a player like Semenyo as it is but would we be likely to see a midfielder leave if Wharton came in? If so, who would be the most likely? Would he be an upgrade for Endo or possibly a replacement for a Madrid-bound Macca?

Seems about right, Victor.

I would expect Wharton would be a replacement for Macca and that we would still need to replace Endo, who Slot clearly doesn't fancy at all. Whether that would be with a senior player or a youngster like Ayyoub Bouaddi remains to be seen.

Zaire-Emery is really similar in style to Gravy, but probably slightly better passing variety. Good player, but you wonder whether that is the profile we need right now. Plus, PSG don't sell home grown starlets lightly anymore since they changed their recruitment policy.

The FSG fat wallet that keeps on giving. All that scrimping and saving was for good reason, although i'll always wonder what might have happened if Jurgen was allowed more money to spend. That was a golden age in terms of how good the team was then.

For me, CB should be the priority forobvious reasons and cos Slot don't rate Gomez and is ready to play Konate who is having a poor season overall despite him being likely to leave on a free next season.

Semenyo? Huge fan so if the opportunity to get him and if the money is there and he wants to come to us, it would be a deriliction of duty not to rattle that gage, personally.

Not sure about Wharton cos he is not a DM nor even one who can spell or challenge Grav in a mobile midfield cos he is not mobile to begin with. Just my take.

I like Wharton. He reads the game very well. Steps in a breaks play up well. I carnt say I've studied him overly but what I have seen is good.
Before we go all in for Semenyo must pay attention to defence. We won't win anything this season as we are right now. It's scary just how poor Konate has been.

YNWA.

Would Bournemouth not dig their heels in on Semenyo leaving in the January window if they feel he can push them on until the end of the season for a Euro spot?

19 Nov 2025 19:26:15
Or will he still want to come if we’re dishing up the same dross.

19 Nov 2025 19:33:01
Bournemouth don’t have a say in the matter. It’s a release clause.

19 Nov 2025 20:03:20
Cheers VG ?.

19 Nov 2025 21:17:44
And if we trigger it and he wants to come, Semenyo will be a red. 'Hope it happens, personally.

United have been dishing up dross for the better part of a decade now and they still managed to convince some really good players to join them. So I don't think being dross for a few months would deter any potential signings from signing for us.

Besides, even if it does, then it just shows that they aren't the right players for us. We want players to fight to pull us out of the rut we are in, not just join when things are looking rosy.

Johnny, according to the Eds, Jurgen did have money to spend but preferred not to spend it and support his players. Certainly paid dividends in 2019 and 2020 but he appears to have been too loyal since then (not helped by the impact of COVID as well which may have blunted the chequebook pen for a while)

Personally Drac, I think Utd just overpay for these good players cos just to show that they are still relevant in the media and in PL circles.

I mean just off the top of my head, paying 75m (I think) for Mbeumo with one year left on his deal or paying 70m for 5 years for a washed Casemiro, are just two deals that a better-run club like LFC or City would NEVER do, based on track record.

There are others I can add to that but those two alone are bonkers, IMO.

20 Nov 2025 20:20:25
Surely after the summer outlay there is going to need to be some more major sales to offset the spending. Who's going?
Salah to Saudi?
Konate and Gomez wages off the books?
Macca to Madrid?
Chiesa sale?

Westwood, all those guys are on the starting blocks, IMO.
