Ed,
Honestly think the bed-wetters here would have been calling for Klopp to be sacked in 2020.
Slot's only the second manager to win the league for Liverpool in 35 years. That buys him a rubbish season if needs be.
22 Nov 2025 17:48:36
Klopp had the excuse of no centre backs and our midfielders filling in at CB.
Even then we had an identity and played with aggression, passion and had a pattern of play.
At the moment we have none of those and can anyone honestly say what the tactics are. Go one down then throw kitchen sink on pitch and hope….

I want to agree but he honestly looks lost and clueless. It's not necessarily the results, it's the football equivalent of groundhog day.
You can't get away with 1 win in a quarter of a season's worth of games (which he's not THAT far off) and keep making the same stupid decisions without being at risk.
22 Nov 2025 17:55:44
I totally agree. and by the way they did want Klopp sacked.
22 Nov 2025 17:57:20
No, it doesn’t.
When you spend nearly half a billion in one summer to improve a championship winning team and you go significantly backwards, playing dull lifeless football, with little fight and being far too easy to beat, then no you don’t get a free pass for a season.
On this current trajectory they could very easily miss out on Europe altogether. Forget defending the league, that’s gone.
We’ve gone from 1st to 11th.
Villa and Madrid showed Slot a way out of this mess and unfortunately his arrogance and unwillingness to change will do for him. If that happens it won’t be unjustified and entirely his fault.

Second worst team in the league the last 6 games. Wolves only worse. How does one define a "rubbish season"? We've had one convincing performance in 12 games ironically against a very in-form aston villa.
22 Nov 2025 17:58:13
We have just suffered back-to-back 3-0 defeats. One of them was at home to a poor team. We have lost 6 of the last 7 games in the league and if anything our performances are getting worse. It is unacceptable irregardless of what he achieved last season.
He is not learning and not trying to address the problems that are so obvious to see. I like the guy and I am so grateful for what he did last season but we need to change things.
22 Nov 2025 18:00:05
No, it doesn’t, certainly not with the quality he has at his disposal.
First, we bought players to retain the league and compete for the CL, not to finish 11th
Second, we’ve been crap since March, so this isn’t a bad patch of form.
Slot has lost his way and clearly has no idea what he’s doing with the team. Time’s up.
22 Nov 2025 18:03:27
Only KBD warriors wanted Klopp sacked. He has an Aura, he has the psychological strengths as well as all the other stuff. Slot seems to be missing something in that respect - we look flimsy.
22 Nov 2025 18:31:59
Winning the league last season buys Slot nothing, on current form we'll be in the relegation zone in a week or two.
22 Nov 2025 18:33:56
Things aren’t improving and it’s a results business. He will know it’s not looking good for him. I think he’s lost the dressing room and the board need to act. Not bringing in another CB was a critical error and nearly all the signings have been frankly awful. You’ve got to put your hands up when you get things wrong.
22 Nov 2025 19:47:40
It does not. When the dogs in the street can see it’s not working and the manager insists on playing this nonsense then it’s time to go.
22 Nov 2025 20:14:22
Tom, Konate was good last season this year he's not the same player. But this is a confidence business and if you have no confidence in the players around you and/ or the tactics being employed (or lack thereof) then all bets are off. For the record, I'm in the let him leave and replace him camp.
We have so many players out of form and just totally lacking fight. Watching Macca today my lord. Absolutely feeble in challenging for the ball losing two duels in the space of 5 seconds. Just no fight, no passion. Grav too. Why are so many players looking like that? Rhetorical.

The issue is, klopp had 3 of solid progression before going on to win the CL and PL and become a consistently solid team that competed bar 1 season. So it’s very hard to compare the trajectories and how to judge them as they’re totally different. Slot was brought in to maintain a high level of success, that doesn’t necessarily mean winning the big honours all the time but it means competing more often than not and after proving himself last season he was ‘given the tools’ so to speak, to fully transition from klopps style and team to his own. He has failed massively so far, and the signs were there last season for anyone that wasn’t completely in awe of the league campaign. I amongst others that try to be as realistic as possible, saw this as concerning but slot had our support of course and the summer transfer window was exciting regardless of how it’s turned out in hindsight. I did think the Isak transfer was a mistake at that cost, but I also thought kerkez was a top signing so you never know how these things can turn out.
Ultimately klopp was brought in to improve Liverpool steadily and get us back competing again and try maintain that level of success the best we can with the resources we had, that was successfully achieved by klopp for the most part, even with all the changes in back room staff, injuries, changes in players etc. Slot doesn’t look like he will be able to maintain his objectives in his second season in charge. I do get the notion of giving him more time to try and improve things as I’m sure he’s not completely useless as some are suggesting, he’s clearly tactically smart and knowledgable, but the application isn’t there at this level under these circumstances at the moment (new players, new back room staff, injuries, senior players we relied on in the past playing poorly) . Being a manager of a top football team is as much about the tactics as it is the man management, and it seems he lacks most in getting the best out of the players, something klopp was generally very good at.
I personally think slot has until the end of the CL league table stage, if results and performances haven’t improved somewhat by then, I find it hard to see why he would be kept. As much as I want him to turn it around, there’s very little proof he will be able to, that wasn’t quite the same with klopp, we had purple patches under klopp, even a very poor season under him to his standards which was the beginning of the end of his tenure with us, but he proved way more before that poor season and ultimately built us back up again. If slot has as much time as I believe he may have, then that’s more than enough time to at least improve to the minimum expectation which is a top 4 team and CL qualification.
22 Nov 2025 20:26:45
Kman, Slot said after the match he made changes but they didn't work. So I would question whether he's tactically smart and knowledgeable at this level. He looks just as lost as the players in his post-match interview.
Last year Slot improved players such as Grav probably being the best example of that. It's about evolving and this season we're not doing that.
22 Nov 2025 20:37:58
Klopp lost all if his first choice centre backs. Slot has no injury crisis, but exceedingly poor tactics. We’re weak in midfield and a soft touch all over the pitch. That has been a common theme all season.
