If however unlikely Slot manages a couple of wins over the next two league games, gets back into the top 5 and stays there for the season while having a good run in the Champs Lge and FA Cup with the team improving would that be enough to earn a third season or are peoples minds just made up now? For me although disappointed as i thought we'd win the league again this year i would give him a 3rd season if he secured Champions Lge and the team were getting better as the season went on.

But some of the issues are from last season. And he’s done nothing to fix those and seems to created new ones. Would love it but from what I’ve seen so far over 18 months he doesn’t have it in him.

Florian - I think the problem with that kind of thinking is that these results should just be part of the picture.
Like, if we fluke these two wins with triple deflected shot off of defenders backside but are utter dross otherwise, is that enough to keep?
Or conversely, if the performance and fight is there but the results aren't, is that enough to sack?

If we got champions league football for next season I would most certainly stick with him.
Unfortunately florian we getting worse not better, I had hoped this week we would've started to show up and start to play a bit and play with some purpose but where not. We more passive than ever, slow, sluggish and disinterested looking. The 2nd goal that psv scored said to me it's not going to change, there player strools past salah into our midfield not a tackle in sight or pressure on him time to look up and play in the forward to score.
Same happening from 1st game of season and not any resemblance of it being rectified.
I hate to sack slot as he seems genuine guy and I really thought we hit the jackpot with him as he outstanding last season but himself and the players have lost there way altogether. If it was going to get sorted we would be seeing signs of it at the v least but there absolutely nothing.

Yeah. If the performances show hope of further improvement for the future, I'd give him a third season then too.
Needs to get that happening quick though.

I have the feeling it won't happen for A lot now Ed but I always hope.
If all of a sudden he cracks the code to how we should play and we see performances bounce back to higher consistent standards, then not sure how we could sack him. That seems a very big IF right now though.
{Ed025's Note - i think you may be that lone voice in the dark Davey, if he does indeed turn it around how temporary might that be?, one or two wins will not erase the damage that has been done for this season anyway mate and he has lost the confidence of the supporters and possibly the players, i cant see a way back for him myself im afraid..

Unless we start winning a lot, and from this weekend everytime there is a loss it will just be toxic again.
I hope he does turn it around though, as I can't think of a manager available now I'd want. Mind if he keeps losing we won't have a choice but to get rid.

I was going on the provision the uptick is maintained per the OP. It would have to be maintained improvement and a top four finish.
But I think you will be proven right in your thoughts that it won't be maintained. It does seem like the end is near.

True Ron, i remember when Josè going there was going to guarantee trophies or when Ten Hag was the future of football. God the likes of Rashford and Shaw have made careers outa doing managers dirty. Managers are not miracle workers.
