Had a little more time to sit and think about what happened yesterday, from performance, result and Salah's comments, and honestly, time has made me even more furious with Salah. He knows exactly what it is he is doing, and what the end goal is, and it is not with the view of what is best for the club, it is about what is best for him. I never expected this of Salah, I never even suspected he was like this, but I guess I was wrong.
Salah has only ever spoken to the media when he wants something from the club. Before, it was to get the big bumper contract. Now, he wants to play games, and is willing to oust Slot to do so. Van Dijk, for as poor as he has been, has at least faced the media, time and time again as a senior professional. He's faced the music and the hard questions, voicing his support for the team at every occasion, protecting his teammates in the process. Salah, has never once done this in his career, not even when Trent was facing negativity from Liverpool fans. But, when it comes to him, Salah suddenly finds his voice and speaks out.
Let's be real, Salah has done nothing this season to warrant his game time. Opposition players are literally talking about the space he leaves behind, and exploiting it. If Salah can't provide the goals and assists, then an alternative solution has to be found. Plus, Salah had many opportunities this season, and has been woeful. His first touch, passing and influence has been appalling. If he was just poor in front of goal, that would be one thing, but even his technical attributes have regressed. The physical deterioration was to be expected, at his age and having played Klopp's high press style in his prime, but he can't even beat a man 1 vs 1, whether that be against a title challenging full back, or a relegation expected full back.
This is not the way I thought Salah would depart the club. I thought, at the end of this season, Salah would get a celebration, plaque, etc, and leave Liverpool a legend with a spotless record. Instead, the majority of Liverpool recognise what he is doing, and their opinion of him will sour, not significantly because his effort, performances and success warrant his legendary status, but it is still a bitter pill to swallow for us.
Amazing to think that in 8 years, all of Salah's interviews have been concerning himself. Not the club, not even standing up for a teammate (as would be expected of a senior player) but to further his own agenda. I think he had 5 interviews in that 8 year span, 3 of which were last season concerning his contract. That is both disheartening and disappointing.

Bang on mate. It’s such a sad ending to a player that is up there with Liverpool’s best. Even sadder that I believe he genuinely loves the club but unfortunately his statement yesterday will tarnish his reputation forever, such a shame ?.

Salah never defended his teammates before? You’ve got to be kidding, right? Let me tell you something. There was a big Liverpool fan page on Twitter that posted pictures of both Diaz and Nunez with their jersey numbers alongside pictures of Wirtz and Isak, with the caption: “Name a bigger upgrade in footballing history. ”
What did Salah do? He reposted it and said, “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions? ” But sure, tell me again how he never speaks up for anyone. I’ll pretend that didn’t happen.
Talking about a new contract? What’s wrong with that? When Trent stayed quiet and didn't say anything about his contract situation, most people were bashing him, saying he should’ve said something instead of staying silent. That he owns fans some clarity. But when Salah says something about his own contract situation, suddenly it’s wrong? Pick a side and stick with it.
Let’s be honest, some people have been waiting ages for the chance to bash him, and now they’re sprinting out of the shadows like it’s Black Friday at Costco.

That is one hell of a rant against our most influential player of the last 5-6 years who is getting shafted by the manager.
Out of form? maybe still not may in the team have scored more than him.
Deserve to be benched probably, but you don't get back to form by sitting on the bench game after game.
I can fully understand why he is fuming.

Slot had the balls to do the right thing even though he knew Mo would do something like this as he has previous. Everyone was shouting for him to be benched but now Slot does it everyone backtracks. Sooner or later VVD will also go. That’s what happens in football and always has. Everyone was calling for a new left back to replace Robbo.
It was done and the kid needs time to fit into the team. Salah has had 20 games to show he deserves a place in the first 11. He couldn’t do it so he’s on the bench. Right decision. He’s also off to AFCON on 15 December so we need to play without him anyway.

Self preservation is what this is. You are spot on this is about what's best for himself. I am not backing Slot but Salah is wrong for doing this. He has been at the club for so long, hopefully understands what LFC is all about and still does this. The thing that annoys me most is when he said “i have so much for the club over the years”.
There are far greater people that have served this club that have done a lot for the club, its fans and community too. For all that he has done for the club the fans have adored him as our own, so why go and say things like this.

Amazing how a drop in form totally disunites everyone. Personally speaking I’d be getting rid of Slot and Salah.

I'm with you Mango. The more I think about it the more pi**ed off I'm getting at Mo.
This has CR7 vs Ten Hag vibes, Lukaku vs Chelsea vibes, Vini vs Alonso vibes.
superstar vs coach / manager / club vibes
The club has to come out on top of this, so I see no way back for Mo
FFS - "I'm not bigger than than anyone, but I have earned my position" so, what does that mean? you can just chill on $400k/ week and just expect to start every game? nah, not for me.
Imagine if this was Trent.
I'm the guy who didn't want to extend Mo. so this is easy for me. Congrats Mo, you're arrogance and entitlement has more than likely forced yourself out of the club.

Well said Faith, Mo knows exactly what he wanted to say, but it was all me me me, he now knows that he has to leave our great club and play elsewhere,
Maybe that's what he is annoyed with.
