Liverpool v Brighton & Hove Albion - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

Salah did get an assist ed, he took the corner ekitike scored from haha

As for konate, I feel he has been really good the last two games, now that the team is set up to mask/ make up for his deficiencies on and off the ball. Instead of sitting back and awaiting the attacker preparing to run at him he is being instructed to do what he does best, play on the front foot and jump into midfield or thereabouts to press if the opportunity presents itself. In the main I think he did that very well. On the ball he has been much, much better too, because there are more avenues for him to pass to and he is getting in the areas that he feels comfortable in, to play it long or short.

I honestly can't see what Mac Allister is bringing to the team at the moment, apart from shameful play acting. It is embarrassing and we would be livid with opposition players behaving like him.
Or defensive shape and organization has improved just by getting him out from in front of the defence and moving him further forwards.

He looks like a totally different player than what we have seen since he came to the Prem.
I hope he can turn things around and get back to his former levels.

Thanks Ed. If Macalistair is still trying to play his way into fitness then he's certainly taking his time.

{Ed001's Note - he is the most overrated player I can remember playing for us.}

Good review ed as always I was going to mention Isak Saturday night but thought I’d get pelters for saying that he looked awful and lazy. I questioned last season when Darwin didn't put the effort in was a disgrace but that on Saturday was unforgivable from Isak. I don’t know what his problem is. Positive though is palindrome he looks like the real deal ed.

{Ed001's Note - Isak is a real worry.}

Good review Ed . I agree with the konate, Macallister n Isak. but Macallister is a concern sometimes he is brilliant n then has a few mediocre games but this season he has not been at it at all.

not sure what the problem is but needs sorting . as for Isak he should be at least fit now but looks so far from the player we bought, he can only improve though.

Comparing Macca to a traffic cone ? That's absolutely brilliant Ed001 ? Yet absolutely spot on.

Ed1 - Isak is giving me Robbie Keane vibes.
I have this gut feeling we’ve made a horrendous mistake and we may end up having to cut our losses to move forward.

{Ed001's Note - I hope not.}

Isak is looking worryingly bad!

Awesome read, Ed and I observed some of the things you observed. Macca? I love him to death but I don't know, man. H is at least 2 steps behind everyone and his lack of pace, athleticism and bite is hurting us cos we move the ball way too quick for him to follow, it seems.

As for our perf., Slot is changing things like the diamond into a 4-2-3-1 with a sustainable press and quick ball movement that gets us on the front fruit quickly. While also, abandoning things that hurt us badly in the past like the useless horseshoe midfield and slow ball progression.

Sure, we still have defensive issues and a lack of press in defensive transition and other things, we can always build on this perf. esp. with a week of training and go from there.

And Isak? I will just hope that cos he is not fully fit (he doesn't even look anywhere near fit), I'll reserve my opinion. As for Hugo "Eki"? Take a bow, son. Cheers, man.

Nice write up, Ed. Hard to disagree with any of it although I might argue you are doing traffic cones a disservice. They actually have use.

To be honest we don't really know if Keane would have been good for us, Rafa never wanted him so he didn't want to play him at all. I don't like the man much, he always struck me as a bit of a bellend, but he was still a pretty good player when we snapped him up.

I’m very concerned that Newcastle may have pulled a fast one with us over Isak. He doesn’t look like a £12m player never mind a £120m player. It’s funny really, a lot of us expressed concern about his fitness levels on here when the rumours started, looks like those worries may have been correct.

15 Dec 2025 21:23:40
If Ekitike keeps it up Isak is not going to get a look in.

16 Dec 2025 10:00:23
Johnny, Not arsed what Newcastle do or don't do. As for Isak, yes we knew about his injury woes cos Newcastle used to look after him a lot and never really asked him to press high and all that, IMO.

Now after all that, I think we rushed him too early into the team for no reason cos well, he never got a preseason. I did not understand it then cos he was struggling physically and then got the injury and was out a month or so.

Now, he seems totally/ completely unfit cos he seems not to be able to even pick a sprint. That part worries me even more. I think he should just go get fit completely and then come back.
