Good result and performance last night, kerkez is getting better as is frimpong and wirtz is silky smooth although I will say he sometimes thinks he's got all the time in the world on the ball! Needs to cut that out for me because you don't get time in Europe and especially the premier league but overall I'm a happy bunny today ?.

Agree credit where it's due. We played well. Some very good performances across the team.
Maybe it's because they came at us? I always think we play better against teams that fancy themselves. Kerkez played very well. Looked like player we wanted.
Let's hope it keeps going.

Kerkez and Frimpong were outstanding. Greenwood and Gouiri were trying to take them on all night and maybe succeeded once or twice. Brilliant defending from the pair of them. On top of that, they then still had the energy and thrust to drive forward and put in some really outstanding crosses/ cut backs, one of which led to the own goal.
The main thing that gave them this freedom was Mac Allister dropping in alongside Virgil and Gomez. It just worked. If Slot wants Gravenberch to get forward more like he has been then it's vital Mac Allister does this. One of the first games this season where we've actually pinned a midfielder back to help deal with the counter attacks. The one time they actually got a good breakaway on us was because Mac Allister stepped forward and gave the ball away. Luckily they skied the shot.
Hopefully Slot can see that this performance was the blueprint for success with this set of players. Let the RB and LB out of the shackles and leave a midfielder back to cover counter attacks. It's really not rocket science but fair play to Slot for finally getting it right. I think we all still want him to turn it around, and that was the first time all season where I thought we actually played very well. It should've been 5 or 6 nil.

And that's the frustrating thing, we can all see how we should be set up.
That is the blueprint imo, wingbacks and a double pivot with 1 of those 2 always staying back to cover the defense
Would love to see how this setup fares against the "low block". cause nothing else seems to work.

Hats off to the boys and Slot. Prepared well and outplayed OM. DeZerbi prolly forgot that LFC still have players that if they are played in the right way, can still smoke near any team if they get sloppy.
Big props to Gomez who seems to be able to roll out of bed, partner VVD and get stuff done. Seems both of them can play with their eyes closed. Solid team win and credit where credit is due.

Decent performance and good win.
First time we have seen the fullbacks look like the players we bought for the entirety of the game.
Joe Gomez rolled back the years with that performance by the way. Flawless.
The box midfield looked good and Mo being more infield looks so much better.
Automatic qualification for the R16 is looking good with just the home game left to go next week. Fingers crossed we can get the job done without getting dragged into the play offs.
I won't get carried away though. Slot is obsessed with De Zerbi (and Guardiola) and they way they play football. He will have relished last night's game.
The bread and butter, the PL, is still proving to be a problem.
For Saturday, luckily Bournemouth don't play a low block so we can be spared that for a weekend. But boy do they run hard, press and tackle. Are we ready to match that intensity? We shall see.

Agree good performance and result last night.
Crazy to think the premier league is seemingly under the microscope for it's entertainment value but they are making the CL look quite easy as 5 are in the top 8 and all 6 will get through the league stages easily enough.
Not sure what that says about European football outside of 5-6 of the big European clubs.

Our defence improves a fair bit when Gomez plays either at CB or helping Konate look like he might be a useful defender when Joey plays RB.

I agree with almost everything you said MK apart from the 5/ 6-0. If both teams were super clinical that game ends 6-2. Alisson had 2 or 3 very good saves and looked sharper himself i thought ?.
