If Ibou extends, adding Jacquet, Leoni and the other highly rated teenage centre backs LFC have signed this month then we should be in a good place for 26/ 27.
The decision makers seem content in front of the camaras at least!

Just as well since Xabi plays w 3 CBS some of the time.

Keeping Konate doesn't help us, it makes us weak, he's not good enough and hopefully there's no longer an offer on the table for him.
04 Feb 2026 07:21:56
Surely salah we should try and extend konate contract to protect his value? Now I mean on the club's financial terms not anything crazy as he not playing near well enough to be our top earner r likes. Still if he under contract we I'm sure would get a v decent fee for him if we did decide to sell.

Konate was good enough in our last game. When he is focused, he is still an excellent defender.
04 Feb 2026 07:34:34
2 decent games ain't good enough. We need someone more consistent and reliable or we can also say goodbye to a title challenge next season.

Darwin, them focused games are every now n then. we need a proper CB to make us stronger.

He was magnificent against Newcastle, Salah, hands down man of the match for me, as good as Ekitike was. Who knows if his dad's health has been playing on his mind this season, he could get back to the form he showed last year.

People complaining about us buying one of Europe's most promising young defenders.
That's 2 we have now.
If we could have got him in this window we would have. it was obviously the selling team who insisted he stayed till summer.
Also it's not like we have bunged them 55 mill and not got anything. transfers don't work like that.
A. We are probaly paying in instalments and B. This is a question for the Ed's please, do we start paying now or when he signs?
{Ed025's Note - i doubt Liverpool will be paying his wages until he is available to play for them mate..

????ed025 I was referring to the transfer fee as you well know. lol.
{Ed025's Note - then yes, but in installments like when you are buying a coffee table from Wayfair mate.. :)

@Digger10, there have been negotiations with Konate's reps for a while but it seems they are biding their time to see what might be on offer elsewhere.
04 Feb 2026 09:52:59
Ed025, do Liverpool have any interest in coffee tables? If so, will it go straight into the boardroom, or spend some time at the academy? Surely we won't have to wait for the window to open as it will go through the door.
This post has a touch of Fornax about it. I need some fresh air!
{Ed025's Note - love it Rome, i heard that the coffee table has been looked at mate...but i dont know whether this has any legs.. :)

Konate is good enough. He's shown on many occasions that he can be an immense player.
The problem is that Konate is not consistent enough. He seems to make far too many basic mistakes (possibly through a lack of concentration). When he is good he is excellent but when he is bad he is shocking and unfortunately this season he has had far more shocking performances than excellent ones.
There may well have been several external factors effecting his mindset this season (contract negotiations, Jota, his father) that contributed to those performances earlier this season. Seeing how much the squad clearly think of him when he scored against Newcastle and his performance in that game I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt and judge him on his performances between now and the end of the season but as it stands I would be very surprised if he didn't leave in the summer.
