Men drooling over Trent and Palmer. Remind me what they did last season and also in major tournaments for England?
Trent was put into midfield in the Euros, then swiftly to a bench. I could care less about the "Southgate football" excuse.
Palmer played a good ball against Spain, thus they're both badly missed for England? Because a very physical low block side halted England.

?
Whether England do well or not, Palmer or Trent are not changing that fate. Mourinho's already brought in his Dutch right back in Madrid and Palmer's going to be moved on from Chelsea if we keep up his performances.
And on Trent's "defending". When it's bad, it's shocking. I watched a lot of La Liga games last season. He's for the bench this season.

Spot on, Ron. Trent's struggling to beat an injury-prone 34 year old to the team sheet, and Palmer's performances have dropped off a cliff. I feel both have poor attitudes, and can be very unprofessional at times too. But look, the types of people complaining would be complaining no matter who you left out.

That's the thing, Chewy. It's obvious Tuchel doesn't like a few "characters", and what they're like in the group or dressing room. There was a video from a training session from the Euros where Southgate is talking and Trent's prompting Jude to do some weird long handshake. This is whilst Southgate is giving the entire group instructions.

Tuchel would never tolerate that nonsense. Immaturity, and also disrespect.
The time is over for clicks and egos. He's gone with a group that will give their all for the shirt, and if they fail, they fail. I could care less anymore about Foden, Palmer and Trent.
Support the honest lads that are there.

What is it with English No 10s. Palmer, Foden, Bellingham and even Maddison. All seem cocky af and really easy to dislike.

27 Jun 2026 23:03:47
Bit harsh to single out number 10s, mate. ?

27 Jun 2026 23:43:11
You better after getting that off your chest, @Ron Funk?

28 Jun 2026 00:24:44
Let's be honest, both should be there and are exactly the type of profiles the team are missing when playing against low blocks. Both may be inconsistent at times but both also capable of producing genius moments - all about risk vs reward and Tuchel chose to be pragmatic. Will see how that pans out over this tournament, but last 2 games have been shocking.

Nail on the head, Ron, couldn't agree more.

I'll never understand why people are so bitter towards such an average player leaving on a free.

28 Jun 2026 08:55:36
Jilted lover syndrome still going strong, I see.

28 Jun 2026 10:18:24
Lest we forget, @Flash.

He didn't leave on a free.

In general, England have never known what to do with "mavericks" whenever they have come along. Not saying these players like Palmer or Trent don't have their shortcomings, but Trent is not a bad kid at all. He never gets into trouble, has never been caught getting his hands dirty and, overall, he has always kept his nose clean.

Now, not all "mavericks" are created equally cos for every Trent who is never in trouble off the pitch, you have a Jack Grealish who used to get carried out of nightclubs and often found drunk as a skunk (buddies with Maddison at one point, btw), so there's that.

The French (who are pros. at this, btw) did the same to a certain maverick named Nicholas Anelka, only for him to be vindicated years later.

OliRed, it's not about what you do outside the dressing room that counts. You could be a good kid and never get in trouble, but still bring a certain energy that some managers simply won't put up with. It could be as simple as you're a bit of a joker or a character, or you might be a distraction to a certain other player, maybe there's a pair of you in it, but you're not worth the hassle because others can fill your role.

It really doesn't take much for a manager to decide he doesn't like your attitude.

We're used to Klopp, a charismatic man-manager who can crack a whip, but very much wants to enjoy himself along the way. Tuchel, by comparison, is a typical no-nonsense German tactician. He probably eats dry toast and counts the number of tiles in every room.
