Kane is the difference and is the only world class English player. Bellingham is a luxury player like many tens, but thankfully has great modern attributes like sheer strength and athleticism.
Kane is such a top top player.

The standard has dropped in recent years with top clubs hiring head coaches/managers like Ten Hag, Amorim, Slot, Arteta, Rosenior, Frank.
Big difference from the SAF, Rafa, Wenger, Mourinho, Ancelotti era.

English players play in a league of pace and physicality, and then don't play the game they are used to playing on the international stage! Doesn't make any sense.

Honestly though, the one I'll disagree with is that Pickford doesn't have competition. How he has remained England number 1 for as long as he has baffles me tbh.
I reckon it's mainly down to simple longevity and managers being scared to replace him. Now I'm not saying Henderson or Trafford are better, but I honestly don't see there being much difference between them, so if Pickford's letting goals in like that, the others at least deserve a chance.

OliRed, I think the lack of options at RB were highlighted as soon as the squad was announced.
And Madueke was a bit part at Arsenal when Saka was out.
imo, a coach now needs to get ahead of the game. Teams are now set up with a midfield player inside the full back waiting for the inverted winger to cut inside, usually resulting in the ball going backwards.
The first coach to play wingers as proper wingers and who are able to go outside and get quality in will soon see the benefits.

To be honest, England just aren't very good.
Since the days of the United boys forming a clique inside the England squad and not mixing with the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Terry etc, and, it seems a genuine dislike of each other, England don't seem to have had any team spirit.
The current team / squad don't look like a team to me, they look more like a bunch of highly paid individuals.
As I said the other day, I just don't understand how Spence gets into an international team.
We are going to struggle against Mexico.

SirBob79, I agree, and if this was the case at RB, then might as well have taken Trent, cos he is simply levels above Spence and the other RB not named Reece James, who, btw, can't stay healthy.
